    Dusk and Her Embrace!!!
    It's raw, it's brutal and it's very Iron Maideny. The drummer for queen of winter throned, Nicholas Barker is the same drummer on dusk and her embrace. It is possibly his best song as their drummer.

    • @JaimeNoro
      @JaimeNoro 3 года назад +3

      Nick's work is top notch. Tasty and demanding at the same time. Only in the first album do we see a less experienced Barker in action. Vempire, Dusk and Cruelty are all master level.

    Speaking of reading through their lyrics and not having English as your first language, I'm Russian and while I learned English at school, I believe fanatically loving this band as a teen and reading and translating these lyrics literally with a dictionary at my had largely contributed to my fluent knowledge of English more than any textbook ever could.

      @@kolya_kievskiy Ну, во-первых, на древнеанглийском он не пишет. Это обычный литературный английский язык, разве что с уклоном лексики в поэтический романтизм XIX века. Но тексты насыщенные и читать их очень приятно, по крайней мере раньше было, в районе '96-'03 годов.

    Awesome Reaction! Yes you are right, they are meant to be listened to for hours. Each Album is meant to be Listened to in its Entirety. Every song Compliments and bleeds into the next one. The Musicianship in every song is Amazing. Although some people may think that it sounds like messy noise, every sound is On Purpose With Purpose.
    You should checkout Bathory Aria, A Theatrical Piece of Music! I'm sure Alice would really enjoy this one. Amor E Morte should also definitely make your list as well. Cant wait for your next pick, I'm enjoying watching your Journey into the Cradle of Filth Rabbit Hole!

    I always forget that Sarah worked with them way back then on that album lol. I'm so glad that she's coming back to fronting a project again (Torn Between Two Worlds is the spiritual successor to her first solo project Angtoria) and I've been going through a lot of her older works like this with CoF and especially Therion, so this was fun to see and hear again even though I've only heard a live version of this since Dani's vocals were a bit dodgy in the early days lol.

  • @jasonvirgadamo785
    @jasonvirgadamo785 3 года назад +3

    The biggest difference between this early era and the other that you are familiar with on your past reactions is due to Paul Allender (guitarist). Paul composed the musical parts of CoF. His style is more melodic (ala Nymphetamine, Scorched Earth Erotica) with catchy riffs and a lead guitar harmonizing behind the vocals versus "V Empire" or "Dusk...And Her" era which are other guitarists and had more straight forward black metal guitar melodies.
    Paul played in CoF for 18 years and on 9 studio albums. His guitar style/sound is easily recognizable and transfered into his former project White Empress. He is currently working on a new project, "The UnNamed Horrors" due out on Halloween this year.
    Glad you guys like Cradle so much and keep up the good work! 🤘🏻

  • @45banshee
    @45banshee 3 года назад +3

    Sorry that this is gonna be real long and I don't know if you like reading long comments but I have a lot to say and gush about one of my favorite artists. First: not to be rude or a know it all but I see a couple comments in different videos say Sarah was the the bands first female singer. She is not. On the first album Andrea Meyers providing the female vocals. Sarah came in on this EP/album next. Also she's not the only female singer here. Sarah and Danielle shared the female singing duties. Sarah did stay for many albums and years.
    This record is considered a EP but because of the length of the record you could really call this a full length album. I believe with just 6 songs this album clocks in at I wanna say 46 minutes. Many COF fans to this day call this their favorite album. And the reason theirs only 6 songs and this is called an EP Cradle of Filth weren't not happy with the record company they were with. Under contract they were obliged to give them one more record weather it be a full length album or an EP. So they RUSHED this out to get out of their contract with the company and go somewhere else. It's insane to me this was a rushed project and its this amazing. This is also why The Forest Whispers My Name is a remix or a redone from the first album.
    Lastly this is the first COF I heard from them without even knowing it. In Houston we have a late night college radio channel that plays extreme metal music. By the time I tuned in this song was 4 minutes in so I caught 6 minutes of it. The DJ did not say the name of the song or band when it was over. For 6 months I was obsessed with finding out who the band or song was and I finally found out 6 months later and been a fan ever since. This is one of the most talented bands in any walks of music.
    If I may thrown in two song suggestions, The Rape and Ruin of Angels and A Gothic Romance

    • @45banshee
      @45banshee 3 года назад +1

      Sorry had to come back to correct somethings I wrote. The record clocks in at 36 minutes not 46. You can still call this a full length album cause their are actual albums that are as long if not shorter lol.
      Danielle stayed with the back till the Cradle to Enslave EP. So Sarah and Danielle shared female vocals on Vempire, Dusk..and Her Embrace, and Cruelty and The Beast

    A side note, the line "vestal masturbation" was on a CoF shirt along with a nun pleasuring herself with a cross. All vocals are him except the female parts.. but that deep low voice he does in this song is him but he can't do that naturally. He uses a pitch shifter on his voice for it to sound that low. Now during the cruelty and the beast album he does a low voice I call the grudge sound because it sounds like the grudge. That I believe is natural with very few editing

    This is one of my favourite cradle of filth songs. I totally agree with you guys, I don't understand 90 percent of what dani is on about. I prefer to think of his voice as another instrument adding to the music. I have seen them live numerous times. He is sounding better now than he has in 20 years! Not banshee sounding, more like a chihuahua having its testicle twisted. But he's a cool guy with a great sense of humor. With respect to the phantom of the opera, the nearest you will get is their cover of Shakespeare sisters song stay. This is one of their best covers. I would highly recommend if you like the more nymphetamine kind of sound. Great channel, glad I stumbled on ye this evening

As for the question in the description - i revisit their first 3 records from time to time, i think that's the best stuff they ever did. Omg you suit black make-up you have stunning eye's really love your look. I'd admire anyone who doesn't give a fuck about convention and the so called " norm" you go girl. This era of cradle of filth you are listening to imho is their greatest incarnation of cradle and Dani.... His lyrics are beyond the average metal or rock lyrics. This is about Clive Barker's books also turned into film ( pinhead from hellraiser ) the lyrics sung beauty and the beast style IE Dani the beast and Sarah Jezebel Diva the beauty. Dani is clearly influenced by classic literature and I can see Milton, Chaucer and Shakespeare as well as many other notable writer's and no other metal lyrics are close to his in complexity and execution although iron maiden especially the time of the ancient mariner comes closet as well as hallowed be thy name which incidentally cradle have covered ( best maiden cover ever imo) this band live are truly exceptional and in the same league as Nightwish, maiden, slayer and Metallica oh and Rammstein and Slipknot .... I've met Dani load's of times as well as a lot of other members and their loads. I put a story about Dani and others in another reaction you did of cradle.
