I think I favour Dusk, because it's got a more rounded sound, less raw. But I can see why you might like the rawness. Principle reminds me of being pelted with stones by preppy types for being the only kid at college wearing a long leather coat and corpse paint. The intolerant fools!
first time ever seeing or hearing of these dudes I seen them at ozzfest in '03 I believe and they had they girl on the rope and the guy spinning her in like mantis like cosutmes it was the most epic show i've ever seen and is what started my cradle of filth rabbit hole some 20 years ago
I have this on DVD and I seen cradle of filth in concert in Phoneix Arizona i lost my voice from screaming so loud plus cradle of filth is a old school black metal band old school never dies.

CoF is not black metal but yeah
Their first 4 albums have all of the hallmarks of Black Metal, it's just more symphonic, with more wordy lyricism. I would argue their whole discography includes Black Metal to some extent (but not purely trapped or restricted within the so-called rules of what purist's judge to be Black Metal). They were heavily influenced by first wave Black Metal, and they were peers of Second Wave Norwegian Black Metal, often touring with those bands in the 90's. They eventually became a mix of different Extreme Metal genre's, which included a more melodic style of Black Metal (very close to Emperor stylistically). Just because you don't sound like Mayhem, Dark Throne, or Immortal doesn't mean you aren't Black Metal. Venom, Celtic Frost, and Bathory were huge influences for Cradle of Filth. Cradle wanted to play Black Metal, but they didn't want all of the restrictions that came with that genre at the time.

I've always thought COF were the best bits of extreme metal thrown all together delivering a delicious decoction of sorts.
