I HAVE seen 90s Mortal Kombat recently and that movie ages like a fine wine! This movie is way more uneven and the only interesting or likeable character in it gets a garden gnome stuck through his eye far too soon. Why did they turn Liu Kang (the former protag of the whole franchise) into such a joke character who was such a wierdo I was convinced he was gonna turn evil? Goro sucked and was totally jobbed out, and compare the final cliff hanger scene to the cliffhanger ending of the 90s movie, absolutely no friggin contest. Sure the fights are much better, it's much gorier, that is literally all it has going for it except Kano hilariously ripping into how stupid everything and everyone around him is, and then they flush that down the toilet cos they didn't know how to handle the characters or the story at all. Yes, the opening with Scorpion and Sub Zero was fantastic and gave me high hopes for the rest of the film, but then they completely drop it until the very end of the movie when Scorpion just appears, er, because.

Raiden is the guy that's like I'm gonna sit this one out guys I'm not feeling it today. Except that's him always when it comes to literally anything. I truly believe he lies about the rule that he can't interfere because he's such a lazy dude
In regards to Australian music in the letters segment, I don't understand why triple J hottest 100 isn't a celebration of Australian artists???? Could easily pull 100 great new Australian songs and bands, spanning many genres, out of my arse every year
Rock them sock them robots sounds like a real steel reboot
I genuinely enjoyed the Ancient Greek mythology history lesson.
I loved Mortal Kombat. It was a bit corny and over the top but that's what I wanted. Honestly, it wasn't going to take much for me to like the movie. As long as Scorpion, Subzero, and the fights were good then I was going to enjoy the experience. Even so, it exceeded my expectations.
Re: People liking the 90s one more because of the idea they have the idea of a good memory in their head - My roommate watched the new Mortal Kombat last week and watched the 90s one for the first time last night, and she preferred the 90s one.
That said I watched the 90s one in the 90s and I prefer the new one.
That one Australian band is AC/DC obviously.
It’s basically a martial arts comedy featuring Kano.
1:17:19 Spot on!
You think you're going to see this giant Final Destination Rube Goldberg pay off, but each step fails to work, and then she does a flip wrong and busts open like a rotisserie chicken being ripped open by a bear when she hits the ground!
i watched it with some friends - some of which are big fans of Mortal Kombat and some of which are vaguely familiar with Mortal Kombat. the ones who like Mortal Kombat did not like the movie and the ones who were like "whatever" thought the movie was pretty good
Exact opposite happened at my viewing experience. People who were huge fans of the lore and games of Mortal Kombat loved the movie and people who didn't know anything about Mortal Kombat hated it.
I believe the Australian band they were thinking of was Savage Garden.
the greek pantheon's been in marvel since forever guys, hercules has had his own title and even became an avenger for a bit. prometheus was cursed to be tied to a rock in the searing heat, and have his liver eaten by birds over and over again
I think Netflix are making the smart play here because while I don't care for True Crime or Period Drama, there is a huge market for them and they are two things Disney plus will probably never have.
Not gunna lie... that reg from the Bill reference was slick as fuck 👌😂 I also wonder what he’s up to 🤷♂️😂
Consider watching Indian in the cupboard for caravan of garbage. Upon rewatch I found it terribly hilarious. Has Darth Vader for 3 seconds if that helps.
Lol, just came back from seeing Roddy-Roy's infamous comment on their trailer!
Have respect for those who invite you on a podcast.
I knew a Naomi Higgins in grade school. She was insufferable
Simple: When selected for mk their healing abilities increase. Lots of gore/ less death
So... people are not familiar with Mortal Kombat lore or even the names of the characters? Hmm, interesting...
AYE HITTING THAT 100K
It was just announced that ITV are bringing The Bill back.
Jax's arms in MK 11 are a million times better than the movie. Also, Cole's cheap rubber costume never should've been shot in daylight, let alone that *bright white* realm hahaha so bootleg.
From the alien race called "Maclunky", you say?
Holy canoli that lady's voice is grating.
Well now that you guy's messed up the facts around the existence of the amazing movie that is Tekken, I think we can all agree that the next caravan of garbage should be Tekken (2009).
You wouldn’t download a podcast... I would actually this on right here
Most accurate portrayal of an Australian in film yet.
I need a Final Destination episode now
Because of this i now hope Naomi/ whatever show they have doesnt get picked up for a second season
Kano got metal arms? Kano’s hat? Kano was that good he is now every character 👏🏽😂
