I know Army of the Dead has been in development for awhile, but this still feels like the first draft of a script. There are so many things that could be reworked slightly to make the story make sense.
The real hero of the movie? The guy who found out what the mission was, and said, "See Ya Later" and drove the fuck away. He knew what a shit show this movie was gonna be.
Army of the Dead took itself way too seriously. A premise like "Ocean's Eleven meets Dawn of the Dead" just begs for a director capable of pulling off a more tongue-in-cheek tone like James Gunn or Edgar Wright.

Idk if it was on purpose or not but the black guy that survived it took him way longer than others to turn into a zombie, so maybe he didn't turn? maybe he is immune? or maybe he will turn into a different breed.
My favorite part of the movie was Chambers' action scene, which was badass, but ended really stupidly. Like no-one even tried to save her and maybe she could've shouted to the squad that the one guy was not a nice guy. Overall the movie was fine.
My wife and I were laughing so much at that scene. They were literally like 10 feet away from her and just standing there. Also, am I crazy or wasn't she one of the two people that said they never killed a zombie before? How did she turn into Lara Croft during that scene?
How did they take such a fun concept, with a fun intro, and then make it into a soul-crushingly boring slog. It’s like the entire movie is a “GOTCHA!” It’s not like Zack Snyder can’t do a good zombie movie. Dawn of the Dead (2005) was spot on
I still maintain that the only reason that film worked is because of James Gunn's script. There's details somewhere about the minor changes Snyder made to it and they're all the worst bits.

The scene at the end when they get to the roof to escape on the missing hellachopter is 100 millivanilli% ripped from Left for Dead 2's absolute banger of an intro movie. My new issue with Army of the Dead, after moving on from the robot zombie, is how did they secure/lock the doors they initially came out of? If the zombies are smart then an exterior plank across wouldn't be enough. If its a padlock then it's dependent on the key holder surviving. This is bothering me more than it should.
