      The O sound is the most prominent difference, particularly in Ontario.
      Americans tend to pronounce it like "oww!" in the famous "about' example, and Canadians tend to pronounce it more like "oh" like the O sound in oak or boat.
      ("Aboot" is not a thing, that's just an ongoing joke, it is more nuanced than that. It just serves to exaggerate the difference in the O sound.)

    • @Shsy7573
      @Shsy7573 Месяц назад

      I could be wrong, but I don’t think having a lisp wouldn’t change how you pronounce a word like profitable. The only real, distinct different between pro-fit-able and praw-fit-able is which syllable she chose to enunciate, and how she said the o. Lisps don’t typically change the pronunciation of vowels.

    Some easy tells are:
    Canadians say "out,""about,"with the vowel in "go" while Americans say it like the one in "cow" and 🇨🇦 often say "down" and "town" with a dipthong, starting with "a" like "car" and then "oo" like "spoon" ie "da-oon" but fluidly in one syllable. Not too far off from Scottish pronunciation. 🇺🇸 say it more like southern English (relatively).
    Yanks say process like "prawcess" while Cannucks say "proh-cess" like Brits
    Canadians say sorry like "soar-ee" while Americans say "sahr-ee"
    Canadians say "eh?" after questions way more often, like where Brits might say "innit"
    Theres actually a little difference in general vowel pronunciation but its hard to tell if you aren't around both groups quite a bit.
