    Great Video. Just want your opinion on 1 thing. I have an old laptop that I am donating to the local charity for their office work. I have already increased its RAM to its max capacity. It had old hdd. Can I purchase a new SSD and use it to give some performance benefit. I know the SDD speed will be lowered to match the SATA 1 speed, but I think it will still be much faster than the existing HDD. Will there be any OS related issues ? The laptop currently has Ubuntu 20.04 on HDD and it currently has no OS related issues.

      That's great 👍! You can. If the laptop is being used only for office works, then an 120 GB or 240 GB SSD will be enough.

    Good afternoon !
    I wanted to know if the SATA data cable is universal. Or there are 3 different cables, 1 for SATA 1, the other for SATA 2 and another for SATA 3.
    Because I have an HD that is Sata 3 and I don't want to make mistakes and connect it with a SATA 1 data cable and not take advantage of the maximum speed.

      There are 3 different versions sata cable. Hard drive can have a maximum speed of 150 MB/s but ssd can give you much speed.

    i have sata 300, toshiba 640.1 gb HDD, and im thinking of replacing it. can i use sdd instead of hdd for performance and what kind of sdd should i use? do i need to consider my motherboard type? thanks

    • @howbnj
      @howbnj  2 года назад

      It's a good decision👍, your hdd delivers 70-160 Mbps transfer speed while an SATA3 2.5 inch SSD delivers 500-600 Mbps transfer speed, but because of your sata 2 port the Speed of the SSD will be bottlenecked to 200-300 Mbps. Anyway it will boost your computer performance. All the best 👍👍

      If you currently have SATA2 SSD connected to SATA2 port, then you need not to buy SATA3 SSD.
