    Those of you who don't know. Sabine Meyer was the first woman ever allowed to perform as a member of the Berlin philharmonic. Not only is she bringing it she is a trailblazer😊

    This Weber's concert was the first public solo performance of my brother who passed away 8 years ago at the age of 48. I recorded him at our city concert hall with a Sony tc-153sd stereo 7 tape recorder, I was just a teenager and my brother few years older than me. Mrs. Meyer is superbe: thank you for bringing me back to this memory with your amazing performance and the heavenly sound of your clarinet.

  • @budimirzvolanek6234

    Sabine's performance is stunning - not one "off" note, superb staccato, dynamics (despite some negative comments to the contrary which are NOT true), tempo management, and simply lively & wonderful to listen to. Her management of the basset clarinet low notes is without a problem; and recording of these low notes actually manages them to be heard by the listener. And the unique slow mov'nt cadenza building on the Mozart quintet cadenza & extending it tastefully into the low basset range - WOW!
    Sabine makes the clarinet part sound light and easy, as it should. Yes, it is NOT the hardest technique concerto to perform (unless played on an early basset clarinet reconstruction as I performed it in 1990) but overall challenging in combining tastefully and cleanly technique & musicality which she has done here. Certainly one of the TOP performances that have been recorded! BRAVO!

    Damn! I'm playing the first movement for solo and ensemble and I'm already shitting my pants with how hard it is, and the arrangement I'm using doesn't even have the giant cadenza in the middle, plus it's missing a whole lot of the fiddly bits. In conclusion, Sabine is really wicked talented.

      Weber and Beethoven were alive during the same time period of early romantic era. They competed with each other in music and Weber at one point criticized Beethoven's 7th symphony. So yes. Thats why Weber sounds early-romantic style like.

    Hey, I'm playing this as a sophomore in high school. I'm trying to win state (Washington state Music Educator's Association), so if any clarinetists out there have some tips on this piece - or the clarinet in general - that would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    • @timk4539
      @timk4539 6 лет назад

      Practice the piece in sections. The piece in its entirety will be very easy especially if you practice a lot of things like arpeggios and scales everyday as a vore routine. Being used to playing all over the range of the clarinet and playing all highest partials of scales and arpeggios will make your practicing experience very easy and you will understand the piece faster, exponentially. If you played Weber's Concertino, then this piece should be strikingly familiar and you will have a head start in understanding Weber's way with this piece.
