Once upon a time, I had a music teacher who scoffed at the clarinet saying that its sound was nothing more than a well controlled squeak!! If I could find him again I would play this video for him. That clarinet sounds delicious! Kudos also to a wonderful string quartet!

Yes, I agree . . . True artistry all around. Let's not forget the string quartet! Very fine and tight with Sr. Rius. Bravo, quartet! Many fine quartets refuse to play this work (All clarinet fun). Second movement especially captured the true pathos of a tragic operatic scene. Thank you for the hard work putting this together gentlemen (caballeros).
My dear god... I usually listen to Martin Frost, Sabine Meyer, Charles Neidich, etc. And I honestly don't like the clarinetists past them. Sure there are a few however I am EXTREMELY picky with the clarinetists I listen to. Even if they're famous if I think they suck I don't listen, but I listen to YOU and I'm saying to myself, "Where has he been all my life?" Truly a magnificent performance!
@ Mauriziobarenboim..you might give a listen to Revelli's University of Michigan Wind Ensemble performing the Von Weber Pollaca to hear an amazing clarinet section. Not to be judging..suggestion only!
+Konrad The clarinet is a very flexible instrument, you can have very different kinds of sounds ruclips.net/video/E1n9dwCqQOY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/qRjT4h7F_jw/видео.html
It's high time the instrumental music of Weber receives proper recognition. His compositions for clarinet, for duos, chamber ensembles, and for clarinet and orchestra are wonderful and show the composer's mastery of the classical style.
Erstaunliche Interpretation von Weber! Ich hatte nicht damit gerechnet, an diesem Vormittag auf einen neuen Klarinettisten zu treffen, der's wirklich drauf hat!
I absolutely just love it. The acoustics are perfect! The tone of the clarinet is so rich & he makes it sound so smooth, like butter. OMG'oodness!!! So beautiful. This makes me want to save my money & purchase the Buffet Crampon R13 series & start playing my clarinet again. Wow! & that cello sounds awesome. The violins & viola were also nice, but that deep robust cello made me go ummmm. I performed the 4th movement in college circa 1986, & the music is still embbeded in my memory. Sweet!!!
Weber = along with Mozart, one of the great masters of the clarinet. Clearly he loved the gorgeous, virtuosic sounds that this instrument is capable of, and through his works conveyed these splendours to us
How fantastic it is! Can I share this by reposting your channel on a nice platform named Gan Jing World? For sure that I will not change anything. If you are fine with that, please let me know. Thank you
Listening to this quintet now, and noticing that Weber, like Mozart before him, begins with the strings alone on a long chord, I wish to some extent that Weber had allowed the clarinet sixteenth notes sooner. It’s funny that they don’t come until the second group, because I’ve thought that fast runs were the sound that most distinguished Weber’s quintet from Mozart’s.
This is so beautiful! There are some similarities with Mozart's sublime quintet, but the first movement of Weber's is more carefree and playful, and the second movement is thoroughly romantic and operatic in its inspiration.
Right, so it's not really original since many people have already posted it, but I need to say it nonetheless: What an outstanding clarity and control of tone and timbre!!! Are you the reincarnation of Anton Stadler?
The emaciated, cancer stricken Brahms was brought to a chamber concert a few months before his death early in 1897. He was asked which clarinet quintet he wanted to hear, his own or the Weber. He chose the Weber. Enough said.
He got a special barrel and bell. If you're interested in buying a new barrel and bell. I would suggest you to buy the Moba or Backun bell and barrel which' made in Canada. Those wood make an very interesting and colourful sound.
I don't know what brand the bells and barrels are but barrels looking similar like those from different makers I find lacking ring and liveliness to the tone. I personally choose Zinner or Chadash barrels.
If you're referring to large circular movements with the instrument then - A. Yes he does do those. B. You clearly have no idea why it is done, so I suggest humbling yourself and researching a bit before making ignorant remarks.
Bello.
Una referencia, no me canso de escucharlo ❤
Think RUclips ! You always provide excellent service. Carl Maria Von Webber is one of the best Composers 👍 🙏
Michel j. Pelissier Weber is awesome. Listen to his clarinet concerti and the beautiful Concertino for clarinet and orchestra.

Mauriziobarenboim I can listen to Sabine Meyer but not watch her; can't accept her 40 minute workout while she plays
But every clarinet sounds the same

Следует не забыть Брамс, квинтет си минор.
@@maxfochtmann9576 yes, and along with the surface beauty and brilliance there is an undercurrent of melancholy
Excellente interprétation. Un bon petit moment musical partagé. Merci pour cette mise en ligne.
Hermoso concierto. Parece que escucho al Maestro. LEOBARDO BLANCO ROMERO. De Mixtla Puebla.

I don't think that is Backun barrel and bell

skilfully entertaining

Can't deny that Brahms had excellent taste in music. I prefer Weber's quintet as well
I wish I could be as good as the guy who plays the clarinet
As I was your age (I suppose) we used to say "gentleman", not "guy". And Mr. Rius is one.
note to myself : movement 2 starts at 11:43

Nice to see a clarinettist not giving the impression of stirring a huge pot of custard with his clarinet.

SUBLIME QUINTETE
Brahms, during his last illness when at a private recital, was too weak to hear both his own and von Weber's quintet...he chose to hear von Weber's.
That's because everyone else was listening to his.
meow !
not sure about this version, nice tone though,
Why are these fine instrumentalists WASTING their valuable time on this piece of garbage? Every measure is contrived.
