    HELP!!! I can't get the bottom bolt out of mine and really don't wanna take it to a mechanic for something as "simple" as a shock absorber. What's the best way? I can't even get the bolt to rotate or beat it out with a hammer. I can get the nut off no problem but bolt appears to be rust welded in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm by no means a mechanic.

    At 5:52 What does "tighten this up" mean? On some vehicles that is designed to pivot so if you over tighten it will NEVER pivot. Pretty important information you missed there.

    hello a question I want to change the shock absorbers to my Ford expedition 2000 The ones in front are air suspension but the compressor is no longer useful. They told me that I have to put a spring on it, is that true?

    I bought the front shocks for my 2003 f-150 and the bottom of the shock on both sides would not fit so I had to grind the bottom of the socket down about 1/4 of a inch to work other than that they ride great just a little upset about having to grind

    If the top of the shock calls for compression at ride height for its maximum travel, wouldn’t it be bad if you drive off-road or hit a pothole? It will force the shock to top dead center and pull apart, my shock just popped out and it’s due to that issue, poor design by ford engineers

    Can an old strut cause rattling/noise is a side its bad on? Been trying to track down the issue, all new ball joints etc

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  4 года назад +1

      +Travis Edwards An old strut can cause this noise. The best way to be able to tell is to have it diagnosed by a local mechanic as they would be able to isolate the issue.

      @@1AAuto alright, i already have a set ordered I'll install. Just wish I'd of noticed it when I replaced the ball joints, rotors, and breaks

    • @JohnnyReb2000
      @JohnnyReb2000 Год назад

      @travisedwards9983 for future reference, you can check stuff like ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. for torn boots, play, etc before throwing parts at it. To check if there's any play in the steering/suspension suspension, lift the wheel your checking off of the ground with a jack and lower it onto a jack stand. Then try to wiggle the wheel with your hands at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, then again at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions (Note: Don't use too much force when your hands are at 3 and 9 'clock, or you'll just be turning the whole steering system). If there's only play at the 3 and 9, then it's a steering issue such as tie rod ends, idler arm, pitman arm, etc. If there's only play in the 12 and 6, then it's ball joints. If the upper ball joints are bad, you'll likely have to replace the whole control arm as the factory part has the upper ball joint and control arm as one assembly. If there's play in both directions, it's possible that a combination of the above are bad, but it's also likely that the wheel bearings are bad. Hope that helps.
