This show if you have played the game is top 3 series if all time if not n1 they captured the story and the characters so good it was almost identical can't wait for season 2
I've liked the tv show very much. It can be in my top 10 favorite shows of all time but as a fan of The Last of Us games, especially the first game, I don't think they handled it very decent compared to game. There was too many key scenes which weren't on the show, most of the action and infected scenes wasn't on the show either. And in my opinion, 9 episodes were too damn short to really understand the characters feelings and the bond that they created with each other.
I got emotional in some parts not gonna lie. However, there was too much more in the game... I've felt like the whole story of The Last of Us Part 1 was being rushed.
@@grozsee I think the game is mostly just exploring, picking up ammo, upgrading, puzzles, killing infected, & alot of talking. ( IMO )
Though the show might be short, they might've just focused more on the storyline of the game.
Also, each episode costed 10 million dollars ( 90 million in total ) & they have more movies & shows in production other than the TLOU show. So maybe that's why it felt 'rush', or a bit bland considering it only had a few episodes.
I get it that the game really sold Joel & Ellie's bond ( the game has 15 hours of gameplay ) but the show only had 8 hours to fit a 15 hour gameplay.
For me, it's fair to say that they summarised the whole game pretty well. ( Apologies if my grammar is bad, english is not my native language )

Quibble at 1:40 - Joel's reason for heading to Bill and Frank's place isn't to stock up for the Wyoming trip, but hopefully to leave Ellie there, for them to figure out how to get her mission back on track. It was Tess's last request that the mission happen, and delegating to Bill and Frank was her idea to (speculating here...) allow Joel to pivot back to finding Tommy and maybe to minimize his exposure to Ellie because she knows he's risk-averse emotionally. We never learn what exactly Tess knows about Sarah, but their final convo is about taking Ellie to Bill and Frank and convincing them to take over.
Amazing recap as always, saved me from several hours of watch time 😅

As someone who has played the game countless times and knows the story in and out, beat for beat, this was one of if not the greatest live action video game adaptation ever made.
I really appreciate how their clothes are exactly the same as the ones in the game. It's like an easter egg in and of itself.

So the fireflies have enough specialists and mdecial infrastructure to distribute this cure that might or might not work? Because they all keep saying disecting Ellie would save the world as a certainty. I mean realistically distributing a cure or mass producing it would be next to impossible, so Joel putting his daughter above a hypothesis makes some kind of sense
What dude? No it definitely doesn’t. Even if they don’t have the infrastructure to distribute the cure right now they would still have the formula for the mf cure. So the choice between a world that gets saved in 5-10 years or less and a world w no cure and no hope is a no brainer of a choice.

This show is basically what would happen if The Walking Dead and The Mandalorian had a child, and I absolutely love it.
And also they awkwardly force a lesbian relationship into the show which is greaaaaaaat. I know the game did it too but that was a little less forced at least. Still feels super weird and pandering to me but hey.

i mean think about it, they're at a (seemingly) all girls school, puberty has their hormones raging, they are best friends and, to eachother, are the only people they can rely upon, it's perfectly natural AND expected, not to mention it adds so much more gravity to ellie having to kill not only her best friend but someone she was in love with

This whole show was shot in Alberta (Calgary, Edmonton, Canmore, Olds, High River, Fort Macleod, and other places). I regularly walk to and from work in the places this was shot in Calgary. Great show all around. Huge props to our conservative government and Premiers Kenney and Smith for cultivating such a welcoming environment for film and tv productions!
PS: My favorite shots in the show had to be the 4th avenue flyover in Calgary and the shot of the Leg in episode 2.
PPS: That giraffe is the one from our local zoo here in Calgary.

Man I never finished watching gameplay of the games cause I felt like I wanna play it myself hopefully I could get it buy it but damn this show was fantastic. Watched the whole thing on an airplane going to and coming back from London💯🏃♂

The dilemma with Joel and choosing Ellie life over the cure, is that the no one in this scene acted in her best interest. Marlene coma dosed Ellie to force her into taking the cure, so they essentially murdered Ellie over a risky chance at a cure, something that was entirely only theorized because we know none of these people are actual certified doctors.
In the PS3 version of the game, before ND retconned it to keep Ellie's uniqueness consistent, there were recordings that implied Ellie was not the only one of her kind, and that the Doctor had tried and failed multiple times before her.
In fact, they never conclusively state that it WILL produce a cure, just that it COULD, and there are no maybes and chances in life.
Ellie should have been the one to make her decision about her own life, but the Doctor in this situation is not a good person. Abby never learned the truth about what took place that day, I feel like if someone was left alive to tell her that the Doctor was going to force an innocent little girl to die without consent for a slim chance at creating a cure, things would have ended different for Joel.
THIS SHOW IS REAL DARK SOMETIMES!
