Because they didn’t add more episodes it felt wayyy too condensed sadly the game always reminds you of that threat but yet focuses on the bonding between joel and ellie as well
I always had an issue with how they were just going to kill their only immune subject without taking the actual time to run more tests. Cuz what if the one thing they were gonna do, didn’t work what so ever? Can’t do anything else unless you somehow come across another immune person now 😂
(SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T FINISHED THE SHOW) I'm pretty sure Marlene knows exactly why Ellie is immune and probably would be willing to try and recreate it by forcing women to get pregnant and than bit as they are giving birth if she wasn't able to get anything from Ellie.
That's the point. While Joel may have ruined all chances of there being a cure, that's the thing. It was just a chance. There was no guarantee a vaccine could be made. The second game flashback shows Marlene being pissed at the surgeon because that's what he told her, that it was a chance, not a guarantee. She cared for Ellie and didn't want her to die for just a "chance," but her sense of duty won her over to let it happen. Joel couldn't do that.
With the fungus growing in the brain it would have most likely killed her regardless, but because it was just a chance one can see why Joel did what he did...you kill her thinking her brain was the key to a cure when it wasn't. The person would most likely have to be born the same way ellie was
In the game at the hospital you find letters showing that they had found other immune kids and they ended up dying and still no cure was found. Now if the fireflies could have experimented on ellies blood without killing her I would have been all for it same with joel 😂 but killing ellie just felt soo extreme and humanity as we see is still continuing to survive in pockets out in the world. So I do think Joel made the best decision he could here it did seem like the fireflies were rushing things without thinking it through.
Something I think they must’ve forgotten about is that wheat is almost always cooked before it’s consumed. Yeah it could evolve to survive the heat of a human body, but i doubt it would evolve to survive in an oven.
I've seen a video on this and while that can be true apparently when it comes to molds and fungus when baking it can actually increase the amount of spores after the baking process.
Possibly flaked off onto hands, eyes and mouth of humans during the gathering, storing or transportation of wheat? Farmers and agricultural laborers in many parts of the world don’t have the most ideal of working conditions, or health care. It could be possible that the virus had managed to get into the population this way through wheat rather than the direct cooking/baking of wheat products to be consumed? Interesting thing to note; with Covid-19, it was almost solely spread through touch and proximity, still managing to infect around +80% of humans (by the last metrics I checked). I know that’s a far cry from a fungal infection, but given the proper area and enough time I suppose it is possible.
Honestly I think it was better for Joel to have just saved Ellie. Not only were they just going to kill her without giving her an option, but they were doing it to just test a theory. They didn't even know if it would work, and if it didn't they would've lost their only immune person. They were shortsighted and foolish, it was better for them to just die so Ellie could live and hopefully end up in the hands of more capable and empathetic people.
Thank you in the game you find lots of letters indicating that other immune kids were find then died yet no cure. It seemed soo extreme like how about keep testing ellies blood and keep her alive that would have made more sense
I think that the “filler” episodes you mentioned, are actually really important. They remind us that there is still a world going on around our main characters.
THANK YOU! I think the same. World building is a very important aspect in every "post-apocalyptic" show. And remind us, the audience, to what we are rooting for: humanity. Not just humans survival.
This show came in with a big bang and has made me a gigantic fan & totally love Pedro Pascal more. Since The Walking Dead has lost steam many seasons ago, we need another great apocalyptic show like this to keep us talking at the water cooler.
Pedro Pascal was great on Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent since it was a moment he deviates from thhe single acting background that dates back Equalizer 2
The ending was suitable. The Fireflies werent even sure the operation on Ellie would works as cure, and they only wasting her potential. Joel doings at the end were in right as a former father and by doing so, ensures that until such another better method arise, its best to let Ellie live.
Absolutely loved the game, and the show was awesome. And I get the whole “minimizing infected to focus on the human etc etc” HOWEVER I would say if they kept a few more of the big infected battle set pieces from the game (especially the tunnel scene right before the finale) I think it would’ve better highlighted the difficulty of the journey that the game portrayed and made the dramatic & brutal Joel scene at the end hit harder. As it was filmed, the last episode felt abrupt. I enjoyed it throughly, but would love to know if anyway had the same thought on the finale.
Such a good series! This was originally going to be a film franchise but it was cancelled due to similarities between Resident Evil, I Am Legend and World War Z. A lot of actor's were considered for Joel, from Adam Driver, Idris Elba, Karl Urban, Keanu Reeves, Harrison Ford, Javier Bardem, to Hugh Jackman. Sophia Lillis, Keirnan Shipka, Maisie Williams, Kaytlin Dever, Elsie K. Fisher, and Callie Spaeney were considered for Ellie.
Well good thing about an apparently good series is now while movie casts to even a smash world wide beloved hit. We get them even in this day an age... Is your movie cast can only get so big. A series allows for potentially a limitless list of guest stars an series regulars an supporters/semi support characters both huge stars an new faces to any screen alike. Just so long as they KEEP this formula, don't do anything too absurd too much or play a trope out too much, an STAY true to the source material
Serious question though, why don't any of them wear ANY kind of armor at all? Like leather gloves or even a jean jacket? They're always getting bitten on their arms and they keep refusing to cover them
My biggest, longest issue is that there should have been weeks or months of tests. I mean, fireflies have no problem taking out numerous soldiers and even potentially causing the fall of safe zones, so theoretically they shouldn’t have any problem with holding onto a few, purposely infecting them, and testing cures PRIOR to killing a child for the brain. We got plenty of blood to work with, and in the show we see that the fungus will be in every part of the body, and the brain is simply the “control center.” There’s no way they ran all possible tests & blood based cures in the time Joel and Ellie were unconscious. Any half decent doc/scientist would do everything possible PRIOR to ending someone’s life on a “maybe.”
The craziest thing about the cordyceps in TLOU is that it first jumps the KINGDOM barrier (much harder than species), then it survives international travel, oven and stovetop temperatures, the human digestive tract, and the upcoming winter. I liked it better when we didn’t know what originally happened.
That scene in episode 5 is still one of the most incredible things I’ve seen on television. My god the feelings I felt when I saw it for the first time…
The scientist does not talk a single word about cordyceps... he speaks about fungi in general. You don`t ship donuts, bread from Asia to Europe... it was stated in the series, that the flour was contaminated and they even made jakharta the capitol of wheat production... so its the flour, not the products that were shipped. the old neighbours even said, that they baked the cookies... and count the wheat based meals Joel and his daughter don`t eat at the start :D
So I know it’s fictional and all, but how exactly does cooking fungus at 300 degrees not kill it? Oh right, it’s the super duper ultra fictional heat resistant fungus. Also, people running have beaten guns throughout history. It’s well known that people who run and throw fists are much more deadly than an enemy equipped with gunpowder and coordination.
@@bipolarexpress9827 talking generally, some organisms ( that are quite fragile themselves) produce spores that can survive extreme conditions like extreme heat or cold. Some creatures can survive in boiling water near deep sea hydrothermal vents or hot water springs for example. Others can endure a lack of water for years. There are trees that produce seeds which can survive forest fires and germinate afterwards. Research on the ISS has demonstrated that some micro organisms can survive exposure to the vacuum of Space. There are even organisms that thrive in highly radioactive environments like Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Try and Google Deinococcus radiodurans. There are lots of extremophiles on this planet. Yes the show is fictional but I don't think an Infectious organism surviving an oven is totally out of the realm of possibility. To quote one of my favourite movies; "life finds a way "
@@bipolarexpress9827you do know that there are fungi species out there that have been shown to survive extremely high heats right? In one study spores of the Pestalotiopsis sp. were able to withstand a sudden and steep increase in temperature from 20 degree Celsius to 115 degree Celsius. And even continued to germinate and spread after being exposed to heats of 115 degrees Celsius for 2 hours. So completely realistic.
I worked in a lab. When preparing media to grow fungus and mold on, it had to be autoclaved at very high heat and pressure, for about a half hour. Otherwise the spores survived. Spores are everywhere... always.
Awesome man, just awesomely done and explained. Thank you. I completely agree with your opinions of the show. Needed a few more infected scenes like how about showing us an episode about 2 or 3 people(maybe a small family) getting infected and turning(all except one) and one needs to be killed the other gets away and the last has to go on(or not) but stretch it out over a complete episode so we can see that side of things more clearly & emotionally??? Would’ve been cool I think
The Fireflies took away Ellie’s choice and wanted to kill her. Joel took away Ellie’s choice to save her. He was right on that alone. Also: the only known immune human who could (if she so chooses) reproduce and potentially pass that immunity on to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren…etc. and save humanity. Hell if you have the facilities to perform surgery and scientific research you telling me you can’t ask her to donate some eggs to be artificially inseminated and implanted into willing surrogates to have and raise the children??
First off, I've watched a thousand videos about TLOU but this one is one of the better ones. I was surprised how good the TV show is. I'm a huge fan of the games and one of the people who likes the story direction of the sequel game. I enjoy a good, well told story so thanks for the video
Cool creepy fact recent studio's have shown cordyceps actually dosent control the brain it barely touches it instead controlling basically everything else but especially the legs so the insect is basically trapped in its own body and might not realise something is wrong for a while as the cordyceps mimics its previous actions for a while before it does its usual thing lol i just find it funny it gets creepier and scarier the more you find out
As a keen foodie, I imagine the fruiting cordysep body on the heads of the humans would be delicious when lightly sautéed with onions and a sprig of rosemary. Most likely it would be rich in omami and possess a smooth bite best served with bacon bits.
There seems to be a slight need for readjust in the later stages of infection. The bloaters being heard protectors makes sense, runners being strictly a stage to quickly spread makes sense, and stalkers being smartest form tactically spreading the infection makes sense. But clickers and bloaters massacring viable host targets doesn't fit the "infected are vessels for spreading" that the fungus originates from. is it just a case that once at the clicker stage the infection spreading process is seen as "effective" and the zombies switch to elimination of threats to the virus instead of reproduction?
It's more so that the fungus and how it affects it's host still operates on spreading the infection, but it's just going to do it however it sees effective. Now the thing is, clickers can bite and a bite to the neck will kill. But the fungus is already administered at that point, and even if you die. It's going to begin it's lifecycle. And it's not as if the booster doesn't throw spore sacks to spread the infection, but once it realizes that's useless. It's going to simply decide to eliminate the threat.
Interestingly the Games take place 10 years into our own future in 2033 to 2038. There's no real loss with setting the series initially in 2003 then 2023, but when I see vehicles in the series that were not manufactured until 2006/7, o kinda wish they had just kept the original era from the games rather than make it harder for themselves.
Wouldn't the infected just die of exposure in like a month? A animalistic human would still need to eat as many calories and even more if their stronger than normal humans. Kind of falls apart when they try to be realistic in the show
Not necessarily no. Because the fungus is keeping the persons body alive and not everyday rules of thermodynamics I believe the energy would be feasible from a different source. If your blood is no longer flowing the same, your organ systems are messed, and your fat stores have been compromised by fungus theyre no longer as viable as energy source. Food can’t be converted to fuel the same, reduced usefulness of food to fungus monsters. Fungus monsters driven by pure instinct, instinct is no longer there to find food.
I think Joel lying to Ellie definitely is a trust breaker…but the alternative was even worse Fireflies couldnt guarantee a cure…let alone how to distribute it…on top of the fact that an extremist organization holding that much “power” over a potential cure to an infection that literally ravaged the world?! Oh nah.. My vote was for Joel all the way, despite the audacious nature of Part II. Had the fireflies given Ellie a choice or at the very least taken her blood or spinal fluid in some way that wouldn’t been a better turn. But plot is gunna plot 🤷🏾♂️ Thank you F.C.E for making this video, you have the best editing and story telling for these and I can’t to see you cover Season 2
I think if he felt he had to protect her from the truth he should have done it more responsibility Like they basically said they don't know if it will work, he could have run with that. But that level of lie is a catastrophic breach of trust
I wish they hadn't use the cordycep concept when they're just regular zombies. I want to see an actual horror movie where people are zombified and are compelled to go to high places, where mushrooms started growing out of them and the spores would be what's infecting people. Makes no sense how the fungus transmits through bite.
As of my knowledge, Australia makes their own flour and they dont require exported flour from Indonesia so the infected cant be spread by products. Also Australia and NZ were on travel bans to Indonesia as a month prior to the outbreak, their was a terrorist attack in Jakarta that made the nearby Commonwealth countries close their borders (if taking real life events prior to outbreak day). I reckon Australia, New Zealand, Britain, parts of Russia, maybe Hawaii might’ve been a safe haven if the military aint strict
America grows its own wheat as well. It’s actually a major exporter of grains. However nations like Australia and America still import foreign wheat, especially in the form of finished food products. And realistically no major nation in the world would be protected forms something like this.
@@baneofbanes as of my knowledge, i dont recall Australia importing wheat back in 2003 prior to outbreak day. Australia just recently imported wheat in response to major droughts but importations are very minimal and do not require huge supplies. Even if an outbreak did Happen in Australia, i reckon it would mostly be minimal damage and wouldn’t spread that much unlike the US since low importations wont turn the entire country into runners quickly. Our government is quick to react in response to terrorism and national tragedies. The RAAF and the Australian Army would’ve bombed and shell the impacted areas and isolate them and desalinate the impacted communities. Dont forget that Australia’s border security are really tough to get through if people tried to enter the country illegally and infected. I also found out that cordyceps does exist in Australia but only in FNQ in the tropical rainforests and rainforests in Tasmania far away from people. I believe that the Australian government would be quick to find out that Cordyceps are the cause of infections and their strict regulations would’ve just ended up burning the rainforest and try exterminating all life of cordyceps
@@Spectre-tv7wi I’m 100% sure that Australia imports some amount of foreign wheat products. The US does and it’s own fi the largest producers of wheat in the world. Regardless we don’t know if Indonesia is the only source of the outbreak. It’s a fucking fictional universe dude. It’s not going to be based off of real world events if they’re not central tot he story, as you said Australia does import wheat. On top of that the original setting for the outbreak wasn’t even fucking 2003, it was 2013.
@@Spectre-tv7wi and literally everything you just said to say why the outbreak wouldn’t spread quickly in Australia is either bullshit or also applies to America. It seems you don’t actually know that much about the US. Again the US doesn’t import that much wheat either. We grow most of our grains, like Australia. That doesn’t change the fact that both the US and Australia import some.

@@jacemenard9168 Mate, re the first TLOU, if you want a solid 20+ hours of gaming perfection, I urge you to do it. I have the Remastered version on PS4 and it looks stunning There is also the DLC mission, unlockables, Factions multiplayer, a lot of replay value for trying to collect the artefacts, letters, conversations etc, which flesh out the story and worldbuilding. The second came in for a lot of stick because of a certain part of it's narrative, but if you can see past that, it's even bigger, with longer story and looks absolutely amazing on both PS4 and 5. It also has a lot of replay potential. If you can afford it, and you aren't going to get yourself into debt, I'd say go for it as there really is nothing else like it on any console I've yet to come across. Need any more info, gimme a shout back 👍

Ain't buying a system for solemnly a single game there's notably GoT, Bloodborne, demon Souls, ... worth mentioning the just released TLOU part 1 (remake)
The problem with your assertion of the how the contamination spread and the speed of the initial infection fails to take into account how supply chains and logistic networks actually work. The flour would have been kept in storage for a period of time prior to shipment. Shipment itself would have also taken an extended period of time, especially since each destination would have different arrival dates due to travel distances alone. Once the flour arrived at it's port of destination, there would have again been a period of storage, with each region having their own allowable arrival and departure schedule, customs policies, and mandatory quarantine practices. Once it's out of port, then it's off to distribution centres, all of which are located in different areas of a country. The flour would then be stored again for various periods of time, before being sent out to stores and production facilities. Hell even the food that is produced in factories or bakeries would also be subject to their own supply chain constraints, and stores would also place new arrivals at the back of the stock pile, not ahead of older stock. In truth, it would be far more likely that the contaminated flour was in circulation for months, not hours or days before the infection first took hold. As the fungus was first being ingested, the infection rate might have been extremely slow, and not the 10min - 24hours following a bite. Those who would have been exposed to airborne particles and had issues filtering the air they breath, may have been the first to turn, while those who had been eating the contaminated foods for days if not weeks, would later turn in a 2nd wave of infections. There's no logical way that the world would have been infected as quickly as you're implying.
Well ... The show kinda forgot to mention that Indonesia wasn't a huge wheat producer. Despite hosting one of the biggest flour mill in the world. Indonesia import all of their wheat demand. Mostly from Australia, Ukraine, etc. The show also forgot to explicitly mention that it might be the grain who's tainted, which carry on after being processed.
Awesome review and analysis as always Niyat. Just a suggestion, if you could provide better subtitles with your videos so that they could be better understood by listeners who are not native English speakers. The auto-subtitles are oftentimes incorrect and makes it difficult to understand (for viewers like me) what is being said by you. I would really appreciate it if you incorporate this.
I actually enjoyed this season. I was very sceptical going in, but the changes they made from the game really felt organic. Although i could have been with Ellies episode. That felt too much of a pace-changer. But no spoiler for the next season? I won't but i also don't wanna see it. Because as much as i loved the first game, i have never hated a game as i hated the second one. Only if they completely re-write the story i'll watch it 🤷🏽♂️ But it was fun to see scenes from the game, on the show. So i'll say thanks for that, at least 🙏🏽👍🏽
the world is big, who can tell there isn't a cure already. The firefly's doctor, didn't know how to get a cure from Eli alive. Why would you kill the only immune person. Most likely he told the fireflies that to keep his high status and protection.
I don’t hate on it, but I agreed majorly with the space filler comment. Why have a whole episode for a character’s backstory just to have them die by the end of the episode?? Seemed pointless to invest so much time in all the side characters that got introduced for one episode just to die, so random.
Wouldn't a flamethrower be a much better way to kill one of these things as opposed to using a gun? It is mentioned in the opening that fungi don't like heat and napalm burns at temperatures between 800-1200 degrees Celsius.
Most flamethrowers and flame based weapons have fallen out of use in militaries following Vietnam for different weapons so how many would be quickly available is questionable in a senator like this. Though why they haven't been reintroduced is interesting to contemplate
They did pretty well with the show. I feel like it needs to be how to do an adaptation of anything to tv. I would have liked the episode to have been a bit longer and seen a bit more of the infected, but it was still excellent!
And you got the whole series. The infected were no longer the real threat, it was humanity on itself. Also not spoken about is that if the fireflys got the cure, they would probably keep it for themselves to take over whatever was left. I caught the show in pieces after episode 4 where they got to KC as I felt with someone with Joel's skills, it was incredibly stupid to go near a city with Ellie.

i have a dumb question, if the fungus needs a dark moist environment, wouldn’t then baking it in extreme heat like get rid of it? Ik someone smarter than me will answer but still curious
There are actually lots of spores not just mushroom spores that can survive in extreme heats including cooking and other barren landscapes that are too hot for animals.
@@spmfilmskid so like the spores of the fungus can survive extreme heat? but like isn’t it stated that it does relatively fast when I’m direct sunlight. I don’t mean to be like oh you’re wrong I’m just confused
Many fungi have spores that can survive extreme conditions. Conditions that would kill the fungus itself. In any case part of the premise of the show is that the Cordyceps mutated so it could tolerate higher temperatures
When baking flour gets like everywhere, also some people like, lick the batter sometimes before baking(from the mixer). So I’m assuming that’s how it happened.

Could someone explain to me why leaving quarantine zones had to be authorized? With the way FEDRA works I would have thought they would be okay with it as that meant there is 1 lass mouth to feed.
Leaving and entering without a security detail and notifying people where they were going increases the risk that another outbreak could occur in the QZ
I am glad they did episode 3 or getting the truck and supplies would have too easy and comfortable. It would have been too Deus Ex Machina to just get a truck + supplies that they had been struggling for. Instead, the show fleshed out and sacrificed 2 loveable characters to get Joel & Ellie on their journey so then getting the truck + supplies felt earned and even more gut wrenching when they lost it.

@@MajesticLawnGnome I just had a play through and I didn't see anything about other kids being immune and I am pretty thorough
Something I think they must’ve forgotten about is that wheat is almost always cooked before it’s consumed. Yeah it could evolve to survive the heat of a human body, but i doubt it would evolve to survive in an oven.
an oversight.
I’m just gonna assume that during baking flour got all over the place, which happens a lot when baking, that shit just gets like on everything.
I've seen a video on this and while that can be true apparently when it comes to molds and fungus when baking it can actually increase the amount of spores after the baking process.
Think matpat made a vid covering this claim
It seemed soo extreme like how about keep testing ellies blood and keep her alive that would have made more sense
this feels like an unpopular decision, but feels best imo
She'll probably die alone in a ditch
it would take a starfleet level of biomedical science to figure out a cure for a fungal infection as bad as this
I think that the “filler” episodes you mentioned, are actually really important. They remind us that there is still a world going on around our main characters.
Totally agree.. the "filler" episode showed the importance of trying to maintain ones humanity amongst thr utter devastation... Loved it

Yea, and this ain't it, chief
Pedro Pascal was great on Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent since it was a moment he deviates from thhe single acting background that dates back Equalizer 2
Anything that doesn't involve Pedro would be better.
The ending was suitable. The Fireflies werent even sure the operation on Ellie would works as cure, and they only wasting her potential. Joel doings at the end were in right as a former father and by doing so, ensures that until such another better method arise, its best to let Ellie live.
And the information from the game, that the fireflies indeed had more immune kids and killed them all without a single of giving success.
Can’t cram all of this into film. Glad they went with a series instead
How did you hear about the different actors who were considered for the role,
Hugh Jackman would be just as perfect as pedro

My biggest, longest issue is that there should have been weeks or months of tests. I mean, fireflies have no problem taking out numerous soldiers and even potentially causing the fall of safe zones, so theoretically they shouldn’t have any problem with holding onto a few, purposely infecting them, and testing cures PRIOR to killing a child for the brain. We got plenty of blood to work with, and in the show we see that the fungus will be in every part of the body, and the brain is simply the “control center.”
There’s no way they ran all possible tests & blood based cures in the time Joel and Ellie were unconscious.
Any half decent doc/scientist would do everything possible PRIOR to ending someone’s life on a “maybe.”
This show was fantastic. Also it's great to see John Hannah from The Mummy.
My god the feelings I felt when I saw it for the first time…
Is that when Henry dies?
The scientist does not talk a single word about cordyceps... he speaks about fungi in general.
You don`t ship donuts, bread from Asia to Europe... it was stated in the series, that the flour was contaminated and they even made jakharta the capitol of wheat production... so its the flour, not the products that were shipped. the old neighbours even said, that they baked the cookies... and count the wheat based meals Joel and his daughter don`t eat at the start :D
He actually mentioned Cordyceps by name although he was talking about fungi in general

Cool creepy fact recent studio's have shown cordyceps actually dosent control the brain it barely touches it instead controlling basically everything else but especially the legs so the insect is basically trapped in its own body and might not realise something is wrong for a while as the cordyceps mimics its previous actions for a while before it does its usual thing lol i just find it funny it gets creepier and scarier the more you find out
Have not watched it yet but, the bloater killing the guy with the same animation just tickles the right spot.
One of the best games i played and a worthy adaptation. Thanks for the upload.
As a keen foodie, I imagine the fruiting cordysep body on the heads of the humans would be delicious when lightly sautéed with onions and a sprig of rosemary. Most likely it would be rich in omami and possess a smooth bite best served with bacon bits.

I love it when you talk dirty!
I like that the infected are hardly seen because if they're overused they'd be less scary.
Small tip... don't make the ambient sound louder than your freakin voice....
The Cordycep fungus zombies have to be my favorite type of zombie, it’s just so creative
The fungus feeds on the host extremely slowly while also sustaining it. The intro explains this with how we create drugs through the same fungus.
Been waiting for this from FCE
Yes, another classic Niyat breakdown and recap. Just what I needed after a hard day's work- something really entertaining!
I think Joel lying to Ellie definitely is a trust breaker…but the alternative was even worse
Fireflies couldnt guarantee a cure…let alone how to distribute it…on top of the fact that an extremist organization holding that much “power” over a potential cure to an infection that literally ravaged the world?! Oh nah..
My vote was for Joel all the way, despite the audacious nature of Part II.
Had the fireflies given Ellie a choice or at the very least taken her blood or spinal fluid in some way that wouldn’t been a better turn. But plot is gunna plot 🤷🏾♂️
Thank you F.C.E for making this video, you have the best editing and story telling for these and I can’t to see you cover Season 2
I think if he felt he had to protect her from the truth he should have done it more responsibility
Like they basically said they don't know if it will work, he could have run with that.
They do have mushrooms goring out of them dude.

There is also the DLC mission, unlockables, Factions multiplayer, a lot of replay value for trying to collect the artefacts, letters, conversations etc, which flesh out the story and worldbuilding.

@@fajaradi1223 agreed.
What the show does give us, is only meant to be a brief depiction of how the fungus spread, not an actual timeline.

I can't believe there are people who are hating on this show. It's such a great adaptation and faithful to the game!
I don’t hate on it, but I agreed majorly with the space filler comment. Why have a whole episode for a character’s backstory just to have them die by the end of the episode?? Seemed pointless to invest so much time in all the side characters that got introduced for one episode just to die, so random.
@Tia Conyer Yeah I agree on this, but it's not that big of a deal. Nothing is perfect obviously

Ive been hype about the Fallout TV series coming on HBO forever, and how well they handled TLOU made me even more hype.
I’m really glad they brought Neil as a creative director, I also love how they made sure to check in with him on what should happen instead of taking liberties like so many other video game adaptations COUGH halo COUGH.
I’m honestly glad that movies/tv shows are bringing the OG crew of each respective game. I think when Arcane came out, it set a new standard for faithful adaptations that have come out(except Halo) like Cyberpunk Edgerunners and now this show. I’m really excited to see how they do season 2 and how Neil might change it since there is a couple things they could change.

I appreciate this since I don't really have a desire to watch it as I've already watched too many seasons of the same storyline different series... but I really wish I could turn off the background sounds. repetitive, grating on my nerves. don't really think they're necessary. perhaps if you do future series you'll consider being a little more light handed on the spooky background music
Locations featured in TLOU games and HBO:
Pittsburgh
Boston
Jackson, Wyoming
Austin, Texas
Salt Lake City, Utah
Seattle
Santa Barbara
Catalina Island (mentioned)
Seraphites Island
Washington D.C
Kansas City
Another fantastic video.
I love how you manage to make the phrase going beast mode sound like it's a scientific term.lmao
Season TWO about to go crazy !
😭
I am glad they did episode 3 or getting the truck and supplies would have too easy and comfortable. It would have been too Deus Ex Machina to just get a truck + supplies that they had been struggling for. Instead, the show fleshed out and sacrificed 2 loveable characters to get Joel & Ellie on their journey so then getting the truck + supplies felt earned and even more gut wrenching when they lost it.
I suggest videos on:
Gemini Man
Farscape
300
The Scorpion King
Hey loved your breakdown as always and for another video how about the Guy Ritchie movie Revolver. I saw it the other day and I thought I was either high or drunk because it was really trippy. Needless to say there aren't any really good explained videos so I have come to the master for his take.
