  • This video will show you how to reset the Tire Pressure Monitoring System on a 2012 Chevy Equinox.
    The steps are as follows:
    1. Apply parking brake.
    2. Turn ignition to ON position (engine off)
    3. Press the MENU button on the DIC (located on instrument cluster) until the vehicle's tire pressures are displayed.
    4. Press and hold Set/Clr. Vehicle asks “Are you sure that you want to relearn?” Select Yes.
    5. Starting at Drivers Front tire, decrease air pressure until horn chirps. Repeat procedure for remaining tires in the following order: Passenger Front, Passenger Rear, and Driver Rear. After completing Passenger Rear tire, horn will sound twice.
    6. Turn ignition to OFF position to exit vehicle learn mode. Adjust all tires to pressure listed on tire placard.

Super video. I had been getting a "Service the Tire Pressure System" every time I started up since I put the summers on my Dad's 2012. They hadn't been on the car for maybe 2-3 years, and I wasn't sure they'd work anymore. I was showing no pressures at all, but I followed the instructions and was back working in no time. Only issue I had was that I didn't realize how much air I needed to let out and was almost ready to give up before I got the honk. My gauge showed that you need to take the tires down to about 20PSI for the honk. Thanks again for the really simple, clear instructions.

I then checked the spare. It was at 30 PSI's. Not 60 PSI's. i added air to the spare then follow your instructions about all the tires. The add air sign went off.

Thank you so much for making this. And thanks for the trip down memory land with the blue intro screen! If I had to guess, I would say Windows Movie Maker. I borrowed my sisters car and it's having this problem. I mentioned it to her and, as if it were no bid deal, informed me it's been like that for a year. I shouldn't need to say that she's 22 and blonde. lol. Tomorrow I'll have her come over and I'm going to have her do it. A while back I talked her through replacing her throttle body over the phone, so she's not totally helpless! As far as this process, what a joke. As a mechanic, it's absurd what they put us through with some of these processes. Feels more like a dance than work. I've never come across this issue and am so thankful I found your video first thing and didn't have to sit through an hour of nonsensical bs as per usual. Thank!

I have a 2019 Buick Encore AWD and my son blew out the right rear tire a year and a half ago( less than 20,000 miles on the tires ) and we couldn't find 1 of the same tire anywhere so we had to buy 4 new tires. Of course the sensor showed the psi loss when the tire sidewall was damaged but after the new tires were installed that sensor didn't show anything so I'm going to try this method which is similar as it's a GM vehicle but it's 7 years newer so there will be small differences. This video shows what I have always told people who depend on that screen to check tire pressures, it is not an accurate reading, it's more to warn of psi losses of over 5-10 psi. I even have 4 different tire pressure gauges, 3 different make stick types and a digital one. They all show a different pressure with differences of 1-3 psi on the same tire. ps. the tire shop owner told me that if I could have gotten the same make and model of tire and since the other tires were barely worn down I could have used one tire but even within one maker and different models of that same size tire there are differences in the outside measurement and on an AWD that would throw out trouble codes and may cause the engine to go into low power mode making it impossible to drive.

, the same gauge you use on cystern , well water pumps and tanked air compressors ) with an air chuck , my gauge is more accurate than the digital sensors . 🔩🔧 Their computer air pressure is just another thing to cost money some day when it breaks.. Thanks for Vid .

After draining the tire to 5psi I realized something wasn't right. It should have honked by then. The tires were recently rotated so I don't know if that screwed things up. I eventually took out the tire gauge and found the low tire...and then let about 15 psi out of the tire I thought was low...lol. All is well now!

I have a 2014 equinox. I keep getting a low tire pressure warning even though I kept putting air. I would like to try this method. Do you recommend me using this method even though I have a 2014?

Yes, it should be the same for the 2014 model year

Altoelder ok so my car never honked and my jump box air compressor sucked. I used my bf tire inflator to fill my 2 right side tires and I had to turn the car on to fill my rear left. Overall it worked. I thought I had an issue with my tire but I guess it was the sensor. Either way thank you for the video! It helped immensely!!

How do you do the same thing on chevy cruze ltz 2015 model? Engine must be running before you can access the tire relearn menu. Is this correct? Mine is the keyless entry type.
