To all the writers who insist that Superman wouldn't feel connected to earth, Go write Supergirl! She was 17 at the time of Krypton's destruction. It makes way more sense for her to feel that attachment to Krypton.

See this is when they need to bring Powergirl back and write her. She’s from a dead universe and suffers from being homesick. While not sure of her place in the universe. But no one has a brain to make moves like that in the comic world 🤧

I hate how most writers give more weigh to his alien heritage than his human upbringing.

I think the only way this story works out is if Jon learns that the idea of doing more in the level he wants is impossible even for Superman. The whole issue itself speaks to this idea that it’s not enough to lead by example and that the ripples created by heroes aren’t enough, they want tidal waves of change and to do the right thing because it’s right in the moment with no thought to those implications. That sort of story could work but I don’t think this will be that story,

  • @deomartinez77

You know it's going to be bad when Tom Taylor says he didn't want to write a white savior story. Anybody that truly gets why Clark Kent works knows that Clark is not trying to be God, but is trying simply to be a good man. A man that can use his physical ability to help his neighbors in times of great need like no other and to do so as humbly as he can.

Ok the first issue was pretty good but the second...WOW, talk about a fall from grace. Honestly, this book should be 'Spider-Man meets Superman' in a really relatable and light hearted way but now it's just Tom Taylor's political opinions as a book. Look, Tom Taylor is one of my favorite writers (he should totally be writing a Green Arrow book) and I've been really enjoying his Nightwing run so far but issue 2 might be his worst work by far. Also I completely agree that Action Comics might be one of the best ongoings along with Robin and Nightwing .

I’ll be honest, none of this take vibes with me. I think this a very uncharitable view of the Clark Kent we get to see in this story. In my eyes, it’s one that deeply loves Earth but feels responsible for representing alien inhabitants on our planet. It’s one deeply concerned with his legacy and what goodness he’s left on Earth. Now he has a son that can carry on, perhaps in a better way. That moment on the roof/in space is incredibly touching. Clark is thrilled and supportive of seeing his son dream of a better world.

With DCeased it's just a fun story about zombies, no pressure to make it culturally relevant. Real world problems can be handled well when they’re not being beaten over ones head. Or just social justice type stuff that idolizes one viewpoint only. When they’re blended well amongst other factors of the story. Something today’s writers seem to forget instantly. Plus for a character like Superman they’re rushing Clark out of the picture quick to replace him with Jon. It’s doesn’t even feel deserving tbh. Most writers have yet to understand the character of Clark Kent/Superman. Let alone throwing his son in there for no reason

I disagree with your interpretation of the scene , sure i dont own the "correct reading" and you can take the written words on that direction. But for what the rest of the book is being consistent, is clear to me the scene is about activism not policing, you can have a connection to humanity and not being a vocal activist for seeing as not your right to influence the course of humanity. Is concistent with other depictions of clark, who inspires humanity to do the right thing but is up to us to fix the world, he "catch us when we fall". That conversation works metatextualy as Taylor saying where he is gonig to take the book, drawing paralels with real world problems, solving them more like Lois would. other writters have been vague about how much clark does when not in a inmediate emerency, so i apreciate this more descriptive take. And, like in nightwing, the conflicts are basicly real world problems but with scifi origins (sometimes). So he is being concistent. Ive been loving this series so far. "Faster than fate, as powerful as hope, able to lifts as all". Its quite lovely. Also, PKJ take on action comics is concistent with this clark, helping peolpe free themselfs, but now saying he hasnt dont enought and taking more drastics actions.
