      She was barely 19 years old when she graduated college.
      Word is that the reason she transferred was to be closer to her brother Tse-ven at Harvard. The reason why she started at Wesleyan is because her older sisters both went there.

      The lazy, mush-mouth sounds, and blatant disinterest in the matter is disgustingly shameful.
      I loathe the inflection at the end of statements especially.
      Our society is doomed because of Liberals, and the Democrat way of backward thinking.

    Madame Chiang Kai Shek (Soong May-ling), a great woman who loved her country. She spoke in a manner which all Americans could understand, accept and relate to her completely. The applause for her was honest, heartfelt and given in sincerity.

      The Chinese before the Communist era were from what I've read VERY well educated people and a number of them were startlingly good at speaking English. Mao and his monsters tore the whole education system down in that cruel "Cultural Revolution".

    Sounds like the "Mid-Atlantic accent" used in Hollywood movies. She definitely could give speeches in English (compared to her linguistically challenged husband).

      @@sherwynesantiagoremandaban4662 I believe that is why they stereotypically referred to them as Dragon Ladies back then, but the term is now a derogatory term, not an empowering one. Although, if you check throughout history you'll often find that behind a powerful man is indeed a very powerful woman! The reverse is not always true, or if the husbands are truly powerful as well they know to keep anonymous, stay quietly away from the spotlight, and let their women shine.

    It is sad to see such great people be helped by the U.S. and their allies in their time of need and then to just be abandoned and disgraced by "ping pong" diplomacy.

      Unfortunately the "help" china recieved from the US was a small fraction of what was promised. The state department was blocking aid to China from the 1930's on

    As a Korean, I feel sad that Koreans had no ability to join international politics like Chinese intellectuals at that time. Of course we can blame Japan that invaded us, but before that, I want to blame stupid kings who decayed my country to weakness.
