She was not wrong, Britain was quite eager to recognize the Communists. Sigh. :(
They had the no choice, the communists were right next door to Hong Kong and India...
@@antman4831 No, we ALL have a choice always...the Chinese people chose the path of DEATH over LIFE, and so must bear the consequences also. :(
@@antman4831 you sure?
@@jasperlau697 look at a map, Hong Kong and India are right next to mainland China; what are asking man
@@antman4831 BS. They had plenty of choice. They could have done more to support the ROC before it was too late. They also could have handed over Hong Kong to ROC in 1997 but instead wimped out then, too.
Due to Britain's recognition of the PRC, the Allies didn't invite the ROC to the SF Peace Treaty leading to the "unclear" situation in Taiwan of who owns Taiwan even though it should have been made clear in 1952.
True, The Modern Version of The Qing Dynasty aka The ROC Wasn’t recognized by United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland aka Britain at that time
@@andrewyuyoungearn2799 They switched recognition to the PRC rather early. Didn't bother waiting to at least show some respect to the ROC whom they were allied with in WW2 in the Burma campaign.
@@jasonleetaiwanabsolutely
@@jasonleetaiwan after Losing the war, they switched their diplomatic ties and recognition from The Modern Version of The Qing Dynasty aka The ROC to The 100% communism version of China (60% Left Wing Nazism and 40% Communism of China) at that time which is called PRC which made Madam Chiang tired and mad at them
@andrewyuyoungearn2799 The PRC can be defined as being the Soviet version of China and not being the ROC or traditional China. They are all about being the opposite of fhe ROC by losing traditional Chinese culture to the point where China is a shell of its former self culturally and no amount of infrastructure and wealth is going to make up for it.
She seemed so tired this time.
That's what happens when you get kicked out of your home nation.
She was tired because she didn't know what to do with all the money her and her husband stole from Chinese and Taiwanese people.

Among the three Soong sisters, Ching-Ling was the one who stood out. Despite her wealthy background, she believed passionately in the idea of a new China, a country freed from feudalism, poverty and imperial dynasties.
In contrast, Madam Chiang Kai-shek loves power, adores publicity and flattery, and was weak on her history.
China under Kai-shek and the Kuomintang would not be what it is today.
U r correct.
Back in the early sixties, I was told by a Chinese American that Madam Chiang would only sleep on a bed with satin sheets. If anything she was completely out of touch with the common people.
In a country where most land and wealth were in the hands of a privileged few, it was not surprising that the masses who felt oppressed, supported communism.
China under Chiang would have been far more normal and similar to Taiwan. The economic miracle would have happened much sooner and there would be democratic elections beyond the local level. People in China would be far more international and be way less brainwashed and aggressive.

Such over simplistic views can only come from a simpleton. Taiwan is only 0.37% the size of China.
Do you think without U.S. financial aid, post war economic development could have been possible even for such a small province? Chiang headed the Nationalist government in China from 1928 to 1949 before fleeing to Taiwan. After 21 years of dictatorial rule, he brought nothing but misery to the ordinary people. It is a well known fact that he and his Kuomintang Party were all self-serving and corrupt. The U.S tolerated and supported him because he was pro-West and served their purpose to contain China. So Chiang was nothing but a stooge of the Americans. He was also a traitor for serving in the Japanese army.
Shame on you for being ignorant about your own country's history.

“ The United States justified giving large amounts of economic aid intended to develop capitalism and private sector free enterprise for the authoritarian Republic of China (ROC) government’s socialist style public sector economy on the island of Taiwan during the cold war period 1950-1965. The $1.4 billion in US foreign economic aid to the Chinese Nationalist led ROC government in Taiwan during this 15-year period was a seemingly disproportionate amount compared to its small size and type of authoritarian regime compared to other aid recipients.” Chiang is no Lee Kuan Yew. Lee was a pragmatist. He combined vision with action and used his powers wisely. Singapore was just a port with no natural resources and did not even have enough water when it became independent. In contrast, your Chiang pales in comparison as a leader and Taiwan would not have been as developed had it not been for all kinds of aid from the U.S.
