@airgunnut From experience, they do not always work, and the models from the past 20 years or so are only good for a few years at best, each power fluctuation degrades the components (capacitors, diodes). Now ones from the 1980's and earlier are often still good, the older the better protection from lightning, although they do not filter out short transient spikes as well as the newer degradable ones. Best solution, use the old ones with newer ones in series after them.
Nice to see you. Yes, surge diverters are a good idea. I have them for network, and installed in incoming mains power. However, as an electrician, who has seen lightning strikes go through them, I unplug all delicate gear when a storm is passing through. Living in a place that gets many storms with loads of lightning each year, we are very very familiar with fried circuit boards. Sincerity glad you have your PC back running. All the best.
Found out you can setup a corridor miner with a habitat and teleporter in the gas cloud to farm iridium for you over time. Also you can setup corridor miners at Theta-12 to collect those resources overtime. However power and teleporters are not currently shared between warp points so you'll need to keep that in mind. There is a nice spot to farm a ton of nanite ore somewhat further away from the warp gate by a debris field though.
yeah i found that out the hard way, lol. going to build a power corridor over there. i was going to test out the teleportal but if power is not shared then portals aren't either
Just to give you a heads up. Purple celestite doesn't respawn. You get it from the Purple trees/tall plants with the weird tentacles in the yellow dome and some found thru out the map. But it is used to make advanced chipsets which make teleporters and large habitat batteries. So once you run out of the Purple celestite you won't be able to make anymore habitat batteries or teleporters so decide which is more important to you when building your bases. Advanced chipsets are also used in upgrades for your hook tool and upgrades for your summon car, so again choose wisely what you want and which is more important to you.
It's so cool that the Dev's added fiber and the ability to make fabric to the game (I had a feeling). Anyhow, this should make the game a bit more fun and interesting, I hope. That said, I'd say this is turning into an interesting series and I for one can't wait for more videos (as soon as you're able and rested enough to do so).
Glad to hear no one harmed from lightning strike. In theta 9 there is a red celestite & 2 blue nodes on a wall in cave, probably first you come across in game.
Fiber plants seem to mostly grow in bio-domes with green grass. The 3 I've found so far are the yellow dome, The dome with the nickel floating over it and 1 with a bunker between the yellow one and the starting point.
I like this game very much, watched multiple playthroughs from differebt content creators. If they keep people busy with syory and more stuff to craft/discover in next 2 zones and possible more future zones this game could become a classic.
Welcome back. One correction: You will need the Nanite if you are upgrading Scan Distance to T3, Four Nanite Clusters makes one bar and the upgrade take two or three of them. Our next issue is going to be food. Beside the Gargaol Fruit, I don't know anything that is eatable. So food has to come soon.
@@surtrplays I just brought that up in the steam Discussion Group I am down to my last three Space Donuts and Gargaol Fruit. So my day looks like, I Teleport between domes, picking Gargaol Fruit and Fiber. Filling my Space Racer with Gargaol Fruit, and the Storage Module T3 give you 49 slots. the eating them like Smarties (the English version f M&M's I believe). Also have you noticed the Water is the new Oxygen?
I had that problem a few months ago... power surge from a lightning bolt somewhere along the power or internet cable lines took out my cable modem, router, internet phone box... even though each of them still powered up as normal, they just did not work. It took a month of ordering and then replacing the first item, (modem, then router, then internet phone box), to get everything back up. Once the modem was replaced then I found the router was bad, went without it until I get get to the store that had wired routers, then had to make a second 100 mile round trip as the first, more expensive brand did not want to configure properly. Then I found that my internet phone device was shot, so I had to order a new type of one as the old one I had used for over a decade was no longer available. The order of course took over 2 weeks to be delivered, the company saying that it had shipped, but USPS having no records of receiving it for over a week, and then it took a very circuitous route (received in Miami, off Puerto Rico for a few days, then back to Miami, on to Pittsburgh -- only 70 miles away, then to Wisconsin, southern Ohio, then to Youngstown area and finally to me). Of course a very close relative who had inherited our family home died and my eldest brother lost my email and kept trying to call me, but his cell phone has issues with my internet phone service, so I never go t a message until the police showed up to check on me. Note that I use wired modems and routers because of headaches from wifi and cell phone signals - had radio frquency headaches since 1979 - when my college drive took me through the path of the US govt's microwave transmission array across US interstate 81 -- finally replaced by satellite and data cables after I graduated from college -- it took me several trips to figure out why I kept getting blinding headaches along that stretch of highway.
Did you find the oxygen station fragments over by old hub station ? Once you've unlocked them you can build one to create a breathable bubble in space almost anywhere. There more helpful early game but still useful to have later on as well.
I know some paint pigments fade especially when subjected to light, but you'd think there would be permanent colours in the future! lol Geat stuff thanks
I wonder if you can hit the little squid monsters with the scrapper. since it's "close in" melee combat, it'd stand to reason, but that doesn't mean it'd work.
It would be nice if they add the ability to make bio mass. Being stuck carrying stacks of fruit once one runs out of space burger material kinda sucks. Would also be nice if they add a silver minable asteroid to the starting area. Kinda odd that we get a gold one when we need so much more silver.
Hi. Love your videos and loving the game. At first I thought the fiber was something I missed, didn't realise it was an update, but that's good. (I think I submitted feedback requesting more health resources). Would love your opinon on a few things. Firstly, do you think we need "fiber seeds" so we can grow it in our bases? Second, the Hydroponic planters need to be larger and take more seeds (the equivalent in subnautica takes at least six). Could also do with recipe for organics, space burgers and space donuts. Lastly, what are your thoughts on building bases on the other side of the warp gates? I've started one, but not sure if its going to clash with a point of interest in a future update. Cheers. PS, glad your OK after the lightening strike. Oh PPS. I read somewhere nanite is need for the T3 scanner rang upgrade, but I haven't found the blueprint yet. 🙂
I'm not sure if they are planning fiber seeds. Would be cool though. Definitely, bigger planters would certainly be helpful. Better food recipes would be excellent. Maybe they will come. I haven't tried building on the other side of the warp gates. I don't really want to mess with areas that are in progress. Things may change that could mess up a base. All good, Thanks for watching.
