Check out Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel. Not sure if it was the first to mix live-action and stop motion, but it was the one that popularized it. Pretty sure it got awards for the music video.

Wow, i haven't listened to this in so long. My friends and I did a cover of this at the school talent show way back in 8th grade. Brings back memories.
I love this song so much as it reminds me of the time I was hiking in Newfoundland in Canada and I was listening to this song. That was one of my best moments in life
It was one hundred degrees as we sat beneath a willow tree Whose tears didn't care they just hung in the air And refused to fall, to fall I knew I'd made a horrible call And now the state line felt like the Berlin wall And there was no doubt about which side I was on 'Cause I built you a home in my heart With rotten wood that decayed from the start 'Cause you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along No, you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along I braved treacherous streets And kids strung out on homemade speed And we shared a bed in which I could not sleep at all 'Cause at night, the sun in retreat Made the skyline look like crooked teeth In the mouth of a man who was devouring us both You're so cute when you're slurring your speech But they're closing the bar And they want us to leave And you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along No, you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along I'm the war of head versus heart And it's always this way My head is weak, my heart always speaks Before I know what it will say And you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along No, you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along And you can't find nothing at all If there was nothing there all along There were churches, theme parks and malls
My assistant Principle as a kid knew I liked and played music and one day said do you know death cab? I was like yeah, (this was not long after postal service came out). He said my son plays bass with them...not sure I believed him back then 20 years ago but i wanted too.... Either way been rocking these jams for 20+ and hope to rock em another 20!

This is one of those indie music videos that could only have been made in the 00's. 90's indie music was pretty much just grunge and 10's indie music is really dramatic a lot of the time (not saying either of those are bad, Some Nights by fun is amazing)but this just feels good. Simple.
Indie was dramatic in the early ‘10s, but after ‘14 or so there was such an ANTI-hipster reaction to that kinda dramatic folk that these days it’s almost too flat and emo-poppy. I like early ‘10s and mid-00s like this. Different moods but both great.
