They already sell a ridiculous amount of mounts and accessories. It may just be a phone on a string but you're underestimating people's laziness; they'd rather buy it for a few bucks that make it themselves.

I just saw one of Casey Neistat's vlogs in which he expresses his admiration for this experiment and tried (read: failed badly) to create a similar cinematic experience.
