    I once had a forward interior cabin woke up in pitch darkness to this loud noise that sounded like the ship hit something and was sinking. I jump out of bed run outside where I could see the ocean as quickly as possible only to find people calmly walking past on a bright sunny day. I ask another passenger if they heard that loud crashing noise. They started laughing and said it was the anchor being lowered 😅

    You definitely don't want an inner cabin; make sure it's along the perimeter. A group of us went a couple years back. My girlfriend and I, our cabin was great; loved having my morning coffee on my own private deck, watching the ocean roll by. It was amazing. But one woman in our party, who joined us fairly last minute, it worked out that her room didn't even have a window. She didn't seem to mind, but it would've depressed the hell out of me.
    The little deck was one of the best parts. Stumbling back to your cabin at midnight, sitting out there, occassionally seeing another cruise ship in the distance. Then sitting out there again in the morning, having your coffee while your partner showers. It would've been an entirely different trip without that deck.

    • @mommy2libras
      @mommy2libras 7 месяцев назад +9

      I'll tell you what I was told, and it's true- you can never go lower in rooms. Once you've had a window, you'll always have to have at least that. Same with balcony, suite, etc. Our first cruise was ok, we had an obstructed view picture window (which wasn't obstructed at all) but the room was pretty tiny. Second cruise, we had a balcony room. I knew the minute I walked in I could never spend a week in that tiny room again. So don't upgrade all the way unless you always want to do that and can afford it, lol.

    • @BeaverDunker
      @BeaverDunker 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@mommy2librasyeah our was an "obstructed balcony" but the only thing that was obstructed on the view was directly down because we were the first level of cabins and the covering on the lower deck was there but you had to look down to see it. But maybe that's why is they upgrade you for cheaper knowing in the future you'll spend the extra money?

Unfortunately the sun came GLARING into my room early every morning, and even with the curtain closed it was so bright in the room I couldn’t sleep, so I spent the entire vacation exhausted.
    The next cruise I took was on the Queen Mary 2 from New York to Southampton, England. The thought of looking at nothing but ocean for 7 days didn’t thrill me, so I booked an inside cabin with no windows. Not only was it cheaper, the room was always totally dark unless I turned a light on, so I slept soundly for 8 hours every night. If you plan to take a cruise to stay in your cabin, save the money and stay at home. Cabins are to sleep and relax a bit here and there, and use the bathroom. Unless you have special needs because you want to be romantic with your significant other (and no kids) and have privacy in a balcony, just stay in an inside room somewhere in the middle of the ship. This gives you virtually no noise at night, and full blackness when you turn off the lights (put a towel by the cabin door if the light outside is too bright). it is the best sleep ever. then, go out and enjoy the cruise OUTSIDE the cabin.

      @@latonyacoleman-hill9172 Oh, the actual back of the boat. The "aft" with no views from the side of the boat, just the trail of water from the back of the boat.

    I personally like the Ocean View or Balcony cabins, since I like having the sunlight coming into either cabin. Helps me with the “rise n’ shine” part of the day.

    I'll have a favorite when all cruise ships are in the junkyard. They use MDO when at sea which is the dirtiest fuel on planet Earth, they'll get a huge fine if they use it in EU members maritime zone (which Carnival has a few times already)

    The worst cabin on a cruise ship would be ANY of them as they are nothing but floating petri dishes. Sorry, but the Pandemic Cruise is not my idea of a vacation.

    The chances are not 50/50!! 😅
    The bad rooms are limited to the area the pool and the dance floors take, which are not many rooms. Divide that number by the number of total rooms in the ship. That’s your probability in %.

    I had an aft-facing cabin in the Eurodam's stern a few years back. No complaints. It was in one of the middle decks separated from both the dining room below and the pool deck above by other cabins so, as you say, it was relatively quiet.

    We just booked a penthouse cabin for a British Isles cruise. The balcony is so big it starts in the aft & wraps around to the side. It has 2 bathrooms, & one has a bathtub. This cruise was supposed to be to celebrate my parents 50th Anniversary in 2020, but then COVID happened. It was rescheduled 3 times, & was cancelled all 3 times. Finally we were set to go in August 2022. Sadly, my Dad passed unexpectedly in February 2022. So the trip has a different meaning now.
