Rainy days on a cruise are the absolute best. If it’s just an “out at sea” day. Everybody is in the bars and clubs. The ocean getting stormed on is a horrifically beautiful site. I just love it.
Sound aweful, more chance for sea sickness, you lose the entire outside portion of the boat unless your willing to get soaked, and your stuck on the boat if it’s a cruise day. Give me some sun any day of the week

Man yall make it really obviously yall have never been on a cruise before you comment do some research they take a ton of sadty precautions so please educate yourselves
Same. I’ve been on a ton of cruises and loved the rainy days. Just grab a warm cup of tea or coffee and a book and stare out the window. Cruise ships have tons of cozy nooks next to windows all over the ship.
And as a Florida girl who lives right on the gulf, we watched 2 elderly sister tourists walking on our beach a sunny cloudless day, a bolt of lightening came from nowhere and killed them both,, Im assuming you live inland or are just stupid🌴
I've been on quite a few cruises. It usually takes a heavy storm or a lot of lightning to close the outdoor pools down. When they close the upper deck down, then you know it's really stormy.
Cruise ships are equipped with lightning protection systems, including lightning diverters and lightning bonding, to help protect the vessel from electrical damage. Cruise ships may be more vulnerable to lightning strikes than land-based structures due to their tall masts, but luckily they are rarely hit.
Lightening follows the path of least resistance so they often hit anything metal and/or the highest thing in the area. The ships lightening rod provides the perfect thing to hit rather than the random dude with his head 10 inches sticking out of the pool
Sure, but it’s still not safe to let people swim during a lightening storm, especially children. The risk of being hit by lightning is pretty low especially compared to other ways to be injured and / or die but it’s not zero. It’s wild to me that a business would even take that risk, especially (again) with children.
On my last cruise, when we were docked at Nassau, there was no one on the boat so we stayed on and it was pouring Down rain. Thunder and lightning every where. There was even a waterspout out in the distance. I went on the water slide over and over again. It’s was pretty fun. Shout out to the carnival Mardi Gras
Cruises suck it’s mostly old fat ppl and you are in a tiny room and the buffet is just a normal buffet you can get the same shit at Golden Corral. If you wanna waste money and overpay for drinks just go to Vegas it’s way more fun😂. Also you will almost always get super sick on a cruise because you are with a bunch of random ppl stopping off in foreign countries everyday and then you pile back into a ship and eat from a communal buffet and swim together. It’s nasty. I worked for Holland America Princess cruises as a cook at a hotel they owned in Alaska and it was all sick old fat ppl coming to port everyday. And I’ve taken free cruises with them since I worked for them and even not having to pay I hated it lol

Just got off the Legend, the pizza was great, the chicken sandwich was fantastic, buffet was as expected, MDR was amazing, Guy's was Guy's. Something that can usually be avoided thanks to modern navigation technology.
@bort- yes, even if it misses and strikes the deck, it'll still want to path through the hull and into the ocean. The whole ship is grounded as per design, even if there is no lightning rod, theres other technology used to negate damage. Never said it was fool proof but again, the pool is still the least of your worries. If the deck gets stuck, it's not just the top deck you need to be worried about. With that being said it's still safer than an indoor pool in a thunder storm
@@donte10111 You're right. And a lot of that technology is in place to protect the millions worth of equipment in addition to the passengers. It's in their best financial interest to do so. But at the end of the day, that technology only reduces risk. It will doesn't eliminate it entirely.

As someone in FL where lightening storms are a part of just about every day during the summer we are constantly reminded “when thunder roads stay in doors”. I’ve had a pool in my yard the majority of my life and we had 3 rules: no swimming alone, no glass by the pool and if you hear thunder or see lightening no swimming.
Thunder rolls

It's dangerous to swim in a pool when it's raining. If it strikes the pool it's gonna mess you up too. And yes I know pools get nice and warm when it's raining but yeah still dangerous.
Rain doesn’t hurt you. The lightning will though.

And overall lightning strikes on pools are super rare, as long as the pool is not located in the highest ground around.
As long as it’s warm enough, I see this as an absolute win. You’re going to be wet anyway, and fewer people in the pool. 🤗❤️
Enjoy the short life.
Or should I say shorted out life?

Being wet is fine but electrocuted isn't.
No problem isn't the rain, not at all, that's so fun. It's the dang lightning that's the danger

Rain, yes. Thunderstorm? Get your stupid azz back inside NOW!!
I love swimming in the rain as long as there is no lightning.
@@Kj_Gamer2614 if you're able to get sea sick on a boat of that size, I'm actually impressed 😂 as long as it isn't a typhoon most people don't mind a little rain on a cruise filled with pools lol. Everyone is out on deck drinking and having a laugh still. It's a great time if you aren't on an elderly cruise
@@kryptico2240 I think you underestimate that some people can get seasick from the slightest motion. I know some people (not me) can even get seasick/motion sickness on top of a tall building if it’s swaying super gently in the wind
@Kj_Gamer2614 nah I hear you, but there's just not really a difference in the motion. Like. If you're going to get sea sick when it's raining, there's no reason for you not to be motion sick the whole time. (Obv if there's killer waves smashing the side of the boat, shits gonna get wacky and rock the boat much more. But im just talking about a rainstorm) my sister is bad about motion sickness. Has to wear patches, acupuncture bracelets, take medicine, if she's ever on water. But on a boat that size, the motion is sooooo miniscule that after like 2 days she's entirely used to it and can stop with all the medicine. Ik everyone is different, and ppl are worse off than her. It's just an example.

I laid in the hot tub while it was raining on the ship and we were porting in Nassau. Most of the people on the ship had got off so I was the only one in the hot tub, that, + the rain, + the view, was the most peaceful moment I've ever experienced. That's when I realized I was getting old 😂

Swimming in the rain is so fun. We use to do it all the time. Water hitting water is amazing.
Shout out to the carnival Mardi Gras
omg that’s royal caribeans wonder of the seas I went on that cruise before!
Omg I wanna go on a cruise so bad just to get that glorious buffet.

If lightening is within 10 miles you should close down outdoor areas and not all ANYONE outside until the lightening strikes push out beyond 10 miles
Should they get out of the boat to 😂 crusie ships have lightning rods that are grounded to the ocean, that pool is safer than any ground pool. If your worried about people in the pools getting electrocuted you should also be worried about every one on the ship getting electrocuted which obviously was taken into account when making a billion dollar cruise ship
That would mean the pool is useless 3 miles maybe yea risk stricks but money
@@donte10111I think it's cool that people know about lightning rod technology but everyone seems to think it's a science. Lightning has a mind of its own and can strike anywhere. Even a a few meters beside I lightning rod. And yes, it is possible for lightning to hit people on the deck aswell. That's why they usually lock down the ship during big thunder storms.
Lifeguard rule of thumb, if it’s raining, but no lightning, you are good to stay open as long as you can see the bottom of the water.
