I've worked for Emirates for 13 years. And it doesn't work like that. However being well dress definitely increase your chances for an upgrade. However in Emirates, you get upgraded when your cabin is full based on the fare you pay for and secondly you status. Let's say you bought a flex fare in economy, you're on the top of the list but from flex fare passengers the company will start with platinum, gold, silver... It used to be based on status only but to be more fair between frequent flyers and money spent on a ticket. This policy was implemented in mid 2010's. Why airlines do upgrades? Because sometimes there is more demand in economy for example and maybe 10 seats are still available in business. Therefore, the airline will keep selling economy tickets until every single seats are occupied. Few days prior to the flight, you might received an email to upgrade on a specific sector at a discount rate. So the airline maximize the revenue and reduce free upgrades. All of this is based on Emirates and seems fair to me. Most airlines have a similar system but not all don't take it as a general rule. Hope it helps! 😊
Exactly, I flew from Miami to Delhi once via a connection flight at doha. They upgraded my flight from Doha to business and sold my economy seat to someone else. But I was still treated as a business class passenger. The seats were booked by my company. They generally book hundreds of tickets everyday for the off signing seafarers
Earlier this year, i flew from Manila to Houston with Emirates for the first time and wanted to try flying on an A380 premium economy. I paid around 1,500 dollars for this flight. Apparently there is no premium economy on my flight from Manila to Dubai with their plane boeing 777 therefore my category was economy flexi plus. Before boarding, my name was called and they’ve handed me a business class ticket for an upgrade. What a very nice surprise I said. I enjoyed my business class seat and all other additional things with it of course (foods and luxury personal kit). Then from Dubai to Houston they did not upgrade me anymore but still i enjoyed the premium economy seat of their A380 ( I didn’t have a seat mate 😊) which i paid for. All in all, for 1,500 dollars fare from Manila to Houston (with an overnight stay in an emirates sponsored hotel in Dubai with free hot breakfast buffet meal) it was truly worth it. And I wasn’t wearing anything fancy. Just a neat looking shirt and a comfortable pair of jeans. Good luck!

Maybe are in a call center in another country. Show up early; politely ask the person at check in, remind them you’re still interested. Yes, dressing well helps make a good impression.
Most important thing is to sign up to the airlines loyalty program You will never get upgraded if you don't. I've been upgraded 5 times on one leg of my long haul flight to Thailand from Ireland.
Many airlines now send emails to customers when economy class is oversold. This is an offer to upgrade for a fixed amount or to put in a bid. Often, this offer is made at check in too. Frequent fliers are also encouraged to redeem their points. This way, the airline can maximize their revenue before handing out freebees to frequent fliers based on their fares and tiers. A well dressed customer is quite low in the pecking order. Trust me, there is not a lot that these airline staff have not come across already.
Dress up because you're the Star of your movie of life. Not for anything external. Dressing your way can mean a three piece suit or cowboy style or something urban but still looking classy. Dressing up doesn't mean someone else's interpretation
For two years I got upgraded from economy to business on every flight I took, on 2 different airlines (5-6 in total in 2013-2014). I wasn't even a member of either loyalty program. I still have no idea why. I always flew alone and was decently dressed but that can't be the whole explanation. At some point it just stopped and I've never been upgraded since.
Balik lg ke preference owner sih, kenapa cleaning tools ga disimpan di laundry room ya, lemari penyimpanan biar full utk stok sehari2. Namun, suka ide nya utk lemari penyimpanan, krn barang keperluan sehari2, seperti lap2, tas belanja, alat jahit, batre, tisu, dll perlu juga ada tempat tersendiri apalagi utk kami, family of 6. 4 anak, remaja - bayi. Rumahnya benar2 worth to wait. Masa pembangunan yg cukup panjang hingga jadi seperti itu. Masya Allah..
Man, am I simple. I only prebook my window seat so I can look outside. 😅 Tho this august I’m going on my first long flight. Can’t wait to see how that will go.
That is some weird housewive's 'psychology' right there. Also: Dress to impress on a flight? Yeah, you better dress to be comfortable. Your showing off will do nothing if you're cold or sweaty or just plain uncomfortable.
I was cabin crew for Emirates, this creates such unnecessary expectations when people get on board because a lot goes into consideration, catering in business class, frequent flyers who might be in economy and are platinum members. It’s a lot!
I’ve never dressed to impress when I’ve bought a first class or business class seat. If you can afford to dress to impress, use the money pay for your higher-class ticket, and go about your day.
Oh! You can actually ask for an upgrade. I was a check in staff for Qatar Airways and sometimes I used upgrade passengers when they requested for an upgrade but they have to be nice and polite also well dressed. But we can only upgrade passengers when economic class is overbooked, we upgrade gold and silver members first then well dressed passengers, sometimes I upgraded nice and well behaved passengers if I like them even though their dressing is okay. Actually this what all check in staffs do.
Im confused!! What does a bulkhead seat have anything to do about a bulkhead seat upgrade . If you booked economy and you request a bulkhead seat, you will get the bulkhead in economy.
It doesn’t work like this. But it did happen twice with me.. first time I was upgraded bec I was a silver member and the flight was full. 2nd time I got lucky bcs I paid full fare economy, I was a silver member, from India to NY.. but what I did is that I put a request a week back and also I did book a flight with 9 hour layover and I requested the emirates counters in Dubai for an upgrade. Most important thing is to sign up to the airlines loyalty program You will never get upgraded if you don't.
I've been upgraded 5 times on one leg of my long haul flight to Thailand from Ireland.
Option 2: work harder to be rich
That last Aerial shot was mesmerizing bro 😍😍
It helps if you actually travel frequently for business and your business has a high tier account with the airline
If you can’t afford, just be real!! 😂
New member? You'll be lucky if they don't laugh in your face.
Dress up because you're the Star of your movie of life. Not for anything external. Dressing your way can mean a three piece suit or cowboy style or something urban but still looking classy. Dressing up doesn't mean someone else's interpretation
I love how smooth you lie 😂
It work on braindead people
For two years I got upgraded from economy to business on every flight I took, on 2 different airlines (5-6 in total in 2013-2014). I wasn't even a member of either loyalty program. I still have no idea why. I always flew alone and was decently dressed but that can't be the whole explanation. At some point it just stopped and I've never been upgraded since.
There is a reason why his video received tons of comments.
My point exactly
I like it when people dress nice and are clean on aircraft
I tried that...on a budget flight, it works!
To fly business, you need to be a regular flying member and pay $$ for the ticket. And I do both and enjoy my trip! There are no shortcuts.
Balik lg ke preference owner sih, kenapa cleaning tools ga disimpan di laundry room ya, lemari penyimpanan biar full utk stok sehari2.
Namun, suka ide nya utk lemari penyimpanan, krn barang keperluan sehari2, seperti lap2, tas belanja, alat jahit, batre, tisu, dll perlu juga ada tempat tersendiri apalagi utk kami, family of 6.
4 anak, remaja - bayi.
Rumahnya benar2 worth to wait. Masa pembangunan yg cukup panjang hingga jadi seperti itu.
Masya Allah..
Great info. Be blessed. Luck doesn’t exist. Amen 🙏🏽
Yeah. I’m showing up with zero miles on my account. Need a bulk-head I called. Ok sir. F-class doesn’t board for another 45min 😂
The quote of the year: “It’s a Boeing, so let’s hope nothing bad happens” ~Eric Struk 😅😂
Edit: thanks for 10 likes ❤️
Man, am I simple. I only prebook my window seat so I can look outside. 😅 Tho this august I’m going on my first long flight. Can’t wait to see how that will go.
That is some weird housewive's 'psychology' right there. Also: Dress to impress on a flight? Yeah, you better dress to be comfortable. Your showing off will do nothing if you're cold or sweaty or just plain uncomfortable.
You could also just buy business class tickets and not do this song and dance that will likely fail.
Who tf flight with sweat pants?? 😂
I was cabin crew for Emirates, this creates such unnecessary expectations when people get on board because a lot goes into consideration, catering in business class, frequent flyers who might be in economy and are platinum members. It’s a lot!
❤❤❤! Dress up also nice wear branded stuff but still put me behind 😂😂😂😮just keep quite thankfull atleast still get inside 😮❤
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 "SURE" 🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Step 1 Stop living outside your means. Step 2 be grateful youre able to fly.
I’ve never dressed to impress when I’ve bought a first class or business class seat.
If you can afford to dress to impress, use the money pay for your higher-class ticket, and go about your day.
Sorry but you’re wrong - it’s an automated system that does upgrades. Please stop presenting false information.
Sounds like a stressful way to travel. I just book the ticket and go.
It technically isn’t free because you still have to pay for the economy seat 😂
I tried now I’m seated where I was but now whole crew is staring me
Last punch 👌👌👌
STEP NO. 6 - Book a business class ticket, if you have money.
Whenever I flew on businesses I dressed ready for my meeting g on arrival. I automatically was upgraded nearly every flight.
BS
I don't fly business class, not my class. I fly First Class economy (thats what i like to call it) 😆😂
Im confused!! What does a bulkhead seat have anything to do about a bulkhead seat upgrade . If you booked economy and you request a bulkhead seat, you will get the bulkhead in economy.
I’d be happy just to get a window seat close to the bathroom!
It definitely feels better if you just pay for it and enjoy feeling rich for real ❤
❤ I like ur videos sir ❤ tc
Nice.
It’s not free if it’s an upgrade from economy to business, you still have to buy any ticket lolz 😝
It doesn’t work anymore because nowadays everyone wants free upgrade so airline made it hard to get it for free
It happened..
I try it and it work
I did get up and finding my dog was patiently waiting for me to get up from my sweet dream .
I like to pay for things...but that's just me.
Since when "dress nice" means "no sweatpants or hoodies", I mean... the bar is so low nowadays.
there's another way: check in at the last minute, they already sold all the economy class seats and left some business class seats for spare
