Hi Dan; Take a piece of the carpet under the rear seat, and use double sided-tape to install the repair patch in the burned area. (Carpet installer's trick)
I love the dig at Bad Chad! 😂That guy is the KING of butchery. Everything that I've seen you do (which is a lot!) is concourse quality compared to that arrogant Bondo BUTCHER. 🤘😎🤘
So you already have the chrome hood bird, and now a fake TA hood scoop behind it? Maybe next you can bondo a couple of those small tomato paste cans on top of the front fenders and wire them to blink back at the driver when you put on the turn signals. It would be interesting to see how the inside of your house is decorated.
Personally I would shave all of the side trim off and leave the chevrolet badge and the Displacement badges on the fenders... AKA trim delete it all leave the window trims of course and hood trim... Make it a clean street look
You guys today amaze me. So many of you like the grunge look. And you call the rust and different colors "patina"! LOL I had many tri-fives in my day, but I'll tell you: I would not take that 56 if you gave it to me....if I had to drive it that way!! But, to each his own...it's the fad today. You certainly know what you are doing when converting the 4dr to 2dr! And you are quick. And you are absolutely right about using the 2dr doors. I have seen guys take the wing windows off and keep the front 4drs, but that just does not do the job, still looks funny. I put the large Mopar scoop on my favorite 57 (for tunnel ram), and also tried a Camero scoop for while. In my time, of course we raised up the back, and/or lowered the front. When I had tired springs on a tri-five, I just pulled off the spring perches, welded them back on the top of the rear axles, and mounted it under the springs. That usually placed the top of the tire not quite showing in the fender. I also tilted my original steel front cap, bumper and all. No cut fenders. I slotted the cap's frame mounts. So all I had to do to open the cap was pull the cap forward about 3 inches, then I could tilt the cap without it scraping against the front edges of the doors. It's normal open position was tilted about 45 degrees, but with a 30 second change, it would open to completely vertical. And two people could remove the front cap in about 2 minutes. I was always trying different intakes, headers, etc so the tilt cap really made that easier. Have you converted a 4dr tri-five wagon to a 2dr? Would like to see that. I had to sell my last '57, a 4dr wagon 4 years ago. Nice work and videos even if you don't like nice paint! :) I'm subscribed and watch all your videos. Sorry I can't donate money...I live (barely!) on a fixed income.
I thought I had seen butchery before, but you're bondo-in bolts for your hood scoop is top dog! On the other hand, as Derek always, says, if it works, is it a dumb idea? I'm digging this build.

I WOULD LEAVE THE HOOD ALONE. THE ONLY HOOD SCOOP i woulld ever use, is a "COWL INDUCTION" (just my opinion) I think tri-5 chevys look best with there flat hood. I reallly like most everything you do. Its amazing, you have no fear just tearing into a car.....much respect.
After you get it running right and the brakes working well you really need to paint the brown doors yellow to match… or spray the entire thing with some tractor paint. I mean come on...that's at least two videos right there!!!😀 I love the gasser look!
IIRC, the T/A scoop was originally designed to face opening-forward until tests showed there was a high pressure area at the cowl and it was more effective 'reversed' on the Firebird. They did work until noise regs meant closing them off; the early ones had a vacuum-operated door. I think most of them could be opened up by taking off the block off plate, but there were a couple of designs over the run, so don't quote me.
I like the dirty banana...you're doing all the right stuff to it, perfect car for bangin' around anywhere. If it pisses someone off, you're nailin' it!

I remember Bob Alton in my senior year of high school. He spent a whole semester putting a scoop on his Mustang. It was the huge one. Our auto shop instructor would not give him a grade until it was perfect. Bob sanded filler for 3 months.
The big three or four at that time and years, 56 was absolutely the best looking of all. Dodge, Ford and Chevy had hit my own thinking the home run of this design. Tube grill, nicest roll to the back fenders, windshields looked right. I was a strange one owning a fifty eight all white impala like the movie rig but way before the movie of course. Even the 348, with tri power on mine. I swapped it later for a sixty seven charger with a shit load of stuff done to it for racing. That sway bar system in back of the 58 came loose somehow and the guy wrecked bad and sued me which he won that law suit, so I sued him on the charger and won... the court system made a ton of money off of us both and we were pissed off at each other for years till a day came in the service and then after that, killer buddies for life. If your 56 were mine, I would put the pipe style bar across the front for a bumper.... a two or two and a half inch pipe so its functional but not rude. I would do a functioning hood scoop and scallop hood reliefs on the rest of it for a ton of air and keep it cold. I do believe the distributor is giving you issues with its running right.... those older ones have a lot of problems
Dan, the Transam scoops point to the rear as there is a low-pressure wave at the center of the hoods due to the aerodynamics of the hoods bulldozing its way through the atmosphere and there is a high-pressure wave at the base of the windshield as the air is forced over the windshield. Put it in with the opening facing the windshield if you want any kind of functionality out of it. Just saying...

😎😎😎 Instead of A scoop ,I cut a square hole in my hood, mounted a Carter Thermo Quad to the inside hood bracing, hooked up a throttle cable, spring ,hoses, and placed stainless steel shields, so you can't see down to the motor. And topped it off with a blower scoop. Added homemade working side pipes, mags with wide tires ,small wing ,and various other mods . It fools a lot of people and looks pretty mean, that is for an 89 Geo Metro. 😄
I bought my Nova back in 1989 and I rolled the back windows down to see if they worked and that's the last time they've been up and down since I've owned it in 34 years 😅
I really like the scoop, I'd like to see it open on the front and a hole in the hood so it forces cool air into the engine compartment going down the road. I am a hood scoop guy too.
Dan, you know I've been watching for a while. I really like what you've been doing. Really good work. I like to watch you do the hood scoop operations, as well...Ha!!!!!
If you want taper front hub bearings , get a set of 63-64 impala hubs, chisel the drum rivets and use old drums. the hood scoop looks BAD! Only time that looks right, is if there's a tunnel ram poking through. But I'll admit converting to a 2 door looks Great! good job
Hey Dan since you live at crappy tire like most of us canucks do … grab a few cans of of fogging oil … works way better than wd I have a can in everything I drive the stuff is amazing
Mad Max's Interceptor hooked me on the through the hood "Scott slot," injector hat. Never cared for any of the other scoop styles. Especially dislike the cowl scoops which I have never seen one that looked good. All that to say, it's your car. Build how you like. If people do like it, let 'em build their own and come by to show you how cool theirs looks.

Great to see another 4 door to 2 door conversion. Well worth doing. I don’t hate the hood scoop but would probably pass on the mod myself. I like the bumper removed for sure but I think you should trim off the sheet metal apron below the grill. The 2” blocks in the back are too low. The rear should be higher and to get the cool stance the front should have been raised up.
To answer your thumbnail question.........YES it does! Not a fan for my taste. I much prefer a short cowl but a bone stock hood on a tri-five for me. I'm missing that Chevy II even though we're going gasser on it.
Two door work you did is perfectly great! You must paint it looks like a cuban taxi like someone else said. Yellow sucks so much. Flat balck or expoxy primer black.
I like scoops but so many people don’t, especially car show judges. Way back in the days mild customs could be a show winner. I would say the car shows changed to all original, numbers matching, born on color, etc. around twenty years ago. Some shows will have a custom category for cars with scoops. The custom category gets crowded and the show winner will not come from that category guaranteed no matter how cool or clean the build is. The only exception might be a car done very original with a mild chop with the right judges. The great custom builds have their own thing, SEMA and some lesser known shows. I used to have two of those Transam scoops. Of course I kept them for future builds but I sold those. I got them for free back in the day in a trunk of a car I bought at a police auction. I just had not found the right car for one. A guy wanted to give me decent money back then for them so it was a done deal. They are meant for bolting on to the air cleaner and sticking out through a hole in the hood. You have it on top of the hood and backwards, looks cool. You could make it functional just the way you have it. A Dremel tool with a thin milling bit works great to cut a ram air hole in the front fiber glass. Of course a hole in the hood to make the setup functional is a decision for sure. I make my hood scoops functional when possible just because that is what a scoop is used for. I still have a Torino scoop hood for just the right build someday. I have welded many scoops into hoods and built customs crossing brands for parts, doing what I have done many times. Your average person will dig the scoops but the car judge purists will hate them. I build them like I want to build them, I don’t care what some old car judge thinks or some know it all bone head thinks. I am probably going to be as old as they are or older so I don’t care what they think, I am not into Plain Jane perfect factory perfect stock builds, I respect those but a custom done fine is the spice of life in the car world in my opinion. I like a custom done clean but I respect the rough ones as well. Never had a problem selling one of my builds, hood scoops and all. Best advice my friend is keep doing what you are doing, you are gaining more experience with every build and you are building them how you want to build them. I think that is why this is my favorite channel, you do what you want and you two are funny, a great couple and fun to watch.

Great show keep up the amazing work and be safe my friends God bless all at the end of the day Kool is kool
