Why is 殺る an ateji? Ateji is meant to be when the kanji is used for the reading but has an unrelated meaning. For that example, it's more that the kanji is used for the meaning but has an irregular reading. I tried googling it, it looks like 'jukujikun' is the word for what 殺る is.

Gokusen is great but you should check out Great Teacher Onizuka, if anything I think Gokusen was partially influenced by it

If you see something gross you could say 食べる気はないな I don't feel like eating.
やる気 is often used when describing someone like 彼はやる気がある he's motivated.
