Joey: proceeds to shit a brick
Why did he take so long tho
@@xavierkwok924 he didn’t know if he should joke and say his cosplay name or his real name did not want to be disrespectful

I shat a brick for his sake too. That was one nerve-racking introduction.
"I find yakuza lingo cool!"
"No you dont."
"No i dont."
he did raise a very valid point though. when using words like that’s cool you do impose that standard onto others and without consent. That might sound a bit much but the point being if you’re gonna say that then also be ready to defend that point. Ppl dont always like to be seen as “cool” when they’d rather just be appreciated. Also some of these terms aren’t supposed to be “cool”, theyre about respect or clarity. Also in Japan you’re supposed to turn down compliments anyways

And Tyson was constantly "Cut the bullshit"

"I am Immortal Tatsu"
"Let's put that name to the test."

Yakuza are definitely very critical about how you carry yourself, respect yourself and others, and to keep your name regardered highly. @@Skyro. You clearly don't understand the mentality people have that come from that walk of life. He 100 percent would've slapped the shit out of Joey if he became disrespectful. And he was not asking for anything that was out of the ordinary. He introduced himself with his full name, Joey didn't. He kept an open, inviting body language, Joey decided to cross his arms mid conversation. Joey tried to flex with some 'Yakuza language lingo' knowledge, and the dude reminded him that he doesn't know shit about their encoded language. Joey made statements along the lines of 'You're not that scary', and he got checked for that aswell.
People with your mentality are precisely the people that catch beatings they don't need to catch because they're kind of daft in the social department.
Mistakes are to be expected when you are inexperienced. That said, I don't blame Joey for the ones he made in this interview. Hahaha. Yeah i would assume joey just didnt use the right term haha. I think what he means is that the guy looks like an average person which i can see but more than half of this video i am intimidated with the guy.
It was a pretty significant blunder, one the guy didn't appreciate. Your ability to strike fear and intimidate others is basically your first line of defense when you're dealing in less savory circles. That's why his instant response was 'Would you like me to scare you?', just to drive the message home he's not dealing with an ordinary citizen. There wasn't much missing, if Joey laughed a bit too confidently or seemed truly like 'hey man, this guy ain't that scary at all', I'm pretty sure the Yakuza dude would've taken him for a short trip down memory lane.

To be fair, I'd be intimidated as well. I wouldn't show any current or former gang member any sort of ID, whether Eastern Yakuza or Western Gangs/Mafia. No thanks, you don't need to know me lol
Time stamp pls?
@Dragon anyone can carry those and if you saw the whole video it doesn't look like this guy wants to stab anyone and do time, sure he's intimidating af but I don't see why he would stab him for a silly joke, like I said he prolly wouldn't. . . prolly
Thank you for the informative interview!
Never have i been so fascinated by a video to the point where i'd let everything wait just in order to watch it until the end a truly amazing aswell as informative interview

I am really glad that Joey did this interview. So many Japanese pander to people and overlook bs. This man was blunt but also respectful. That was the coolest part.🥰 Been watching This channel for a long while and not sure how I missed this!
Great material for my grade thesis :D Thanks.
"Fighting skill doesn't matter when guns enter the picture." That quote is such a bruh moment.
its been said before by weaklings and other people that cant fight

I like his self discipline regarding politeness and being respectful. That's admirable. I like that a lot.
Actually a decent interview. Tyson definitely carried it, but amazing as is. Good job man.
The reason joey was wearing glasses is to hide his teary eyes probably
Could also be to avoid direct eye contact with someone that might see it as a challenge.

@Julius Awolumate you would’ve done the same bozo 🤓
Haven’t watched this in a while but immediately recognized his face in Tokyo Vice episode 3. Must’ve had some consultant/acting work.
This was a fantastic interview!
This guy just oozes the whole "If you respect me, i'll respect you" kind of vibe. I love how straight he was , no bullsh*t in those words at all. Great vid!
Agree, while he was stern a few times with reprimands he was always respectful and actually seemd like a pretty cool guy imo
Yakuza are not really a mafia or gang or cartel in the sense of any others in the world. Be it Hacienda, MS-13, Italian families, Triads. They have vastly more dignity and respect. Like he said, bend the strong and help the weak. They keep order where the government was or is too lazy to. It's a fucking shame how the government got corrupt as hell and then went hyper-authoritarian to snuff them out. Meanwhile, politicians and businessmen have made themselves rich off corruption. In many ways they seem to be the last holdout of those values that once made Japan great.
Don't forget, The Hawkers hired the Yakuza because the government couldn't be assed to. So don't you ever lump them in with any other shitbag mafia, cartel, or gang.
@@ObservationofLimits crime syndicates in general need to be more like that.
There is bullshit in your comment tho
@@CreativeRenzo which?
your comment?
Joey: "You don't seem intimidating"
Minutes later... "Don't cross your arms"
pretty sure in japan it’s rude to do that just like putting chopsticks in a x is because it means you don’t like it
@@skizzi3209 Pretty sure it's rude in most countries. It's hostile or closed body language.
I’ve seen comments saying that doing that raises suspicion of you reaching for a concealed weapon in your sleeve, a very real concern in the Yakuza. Or maybe just a formality. Who knows?
@@greywalker505 it can be that "yakuza" way. but in my country, when you cross your arms, especially in formal activities ex: interviews, meeting, etc. It's rude for other people. Maybe it's just all contries in the world common culture
@@skyworm8006 which is actually a false assumption coming from culture and really unnatural.
it's so strange how he seems like such a chill dude that honestly just looks, sounds and acts like that one uncle that was just really cool. honestly shocking knowing that he was in the yakuza
i loved the video hehe very informational and i loved mr tyson's answers and questions. very nice interview
When Tyson gets serious asking Joey his name and basically grilling him about courtesy. The fact Joey had the balls to slightly clown around in the beginning, i was both terrified for him and in awe
Joey trying to act tough but is terrified and does whatever the exyakuza member says. Uncross your arms, take off your sunglasses etc
😂😂
When joey was making that cringe joke and also said show your ID I was like this is bad
I feared for his life in this moment. Like damn son.
I was so scared for him but I think he dealt with the criticism very well
He seems like he’d be Joeys dad telling him not to cross his arms

this was really interesting to see, Joey!
I find it strangely admirable Joey had the balls to wear an apron to this particular occasion.
Yeah must have have to give a set for this interview good thing he got spares
Way of the Househusband power
It's to soak up any blood that happens to leave Joey's body unexpectedly. He doesn't want to be rude and not provide an easy way for the Yakuza to cleanup.

Yeah because he is an actor. Not an actual one. Look in the description of this video caredully

You can google "Acting agencies for gangsters" there are western agencies that do the exact same thing.
Another example I can give is Pablo Escobar's hitman, Popeye. He was a brutal killer in real life but he also acted in some TV show as a hitman (I can't remember the name of the show).
