The Intellevision Amico reminds me of the ZapIt Gamewave which was released in 2006. The Gamewave was the very first Canadian developed console. Intellevision is using same marketing strategy as ZapIt did over 15 years ago. ZapIt designed the Gamewave to be a "Family friendly" console with simple games that don't require powerful hardware. Top Hat Gaming Man made a great video that covers the tattered history of the ZapIt Gamewave. I highly recommend that you guys watch it. I believe the history of the Gamewave may foreshadow the fate of the Amico.
Holy moly I thought Zeebo was obscure. At 1:35 in this video they have the first picture of the Zapit, and it even has a conspicuous controller tray just like amico
Resident Evil 4 is a other game which has an adjustable difficulty scale depending on the performance of the player. You select your difficulty mode, but the game still makes adjustments on top of that as you go. Enemies will be less aggressive if you die often, and vice versa.
here’s the thing: the amico would be in a completely different place right now if it weren’t for tommy making himself the face of the system. he has been nothing but offputting and sleazy. the videos he released, i watched the earthworm jim one where they showed no footage just a bunch of dudes looking at a laptop that they said was running earthworm jim, the videos have been dishonest. the amico saga has just been a long series of red flags.
What are you talking about? This is the standard procedure for any video game company executive. Don't you remember when Nintendo revealed the Switch, and Reggie went into the comments thread of every negative video and said everyone that didn't have a glowing opinion about it was just a mis-information spewing hater that didn't have the "top secret insider information" that he told some random RUclipsr?
joshnickerson haha, yeah, reggie was a real thumb breaker. seriously, though, tallarico is running this campaign like a pyramid scam. any other system worth a shit isn’t marketed through a piss poor bullying campaign.
It makes me laugh when people say things have gotten more complicated or the classic "it was a simpler time". No, it wasn't simpler. I've loaded games on a ZX spectrum and cleaned the heads on a VHS player.
I think video game simplicity goes counterclockwise when compared to other electronics. While few people will claim punch cards are easier than apk files, or reel to reel machines were easier than mp3 players, there's no doubt that an Atari 2600 and it's games were easier to configure than a PS4. Android and Ios games, on the other hand, is simple and straightforward.
@@FIXTREME In what way? If you buy physical it's the same it's always been. You take the game out, put it in the machine and hit play. The only thing that has changed is the fact that you need to wait a while to install before you start. Am I missing something?
I never saw how cleaning cartridges with q-tips(or incorrectly blowing on it like we did back then) and jiggling it around is simpler compared to wiping a disc and popping it in.
@AMysticSeer If I remember correctly, day 1 the Ouya was plagued with bugs, bad ports and shovelware. It did have some indie gems, but that was likely a happy accident rather than anything related to the hardware. Oh, and I unfortunately did play with an Ouya a handful times during it's first couple months, in any case, you don't really have a say on what people can have an opinion on.
Tommy has now lied on at least four points, which he accused others of being haters, or liars about: 1. The Amico will cost $179 or less than $200. It is now at least $250. 2. It will have exclusive software titles only. (He apparently counts "playable on Amico controllers" as exclusive"🙄.) 3. Amico will not be crowdfunded. (I am sure he justifies his backtrack by claiming it is an investment.) 4. The IA is bringing back a family friendly, couch co-op which isn't available now. What a clown. Plus this b.s. about a line of credit is clearly broker speak. He and his company do not hold the l.o.c., it is probably held by someone brokering some part of fundraising, but they very likely neither control it, or can use it anywhere near its limits for the project. This stinks of a company in a lot more trouble than it is letting on. No way they come close to 1 million units. Wake up Tommy-ites, you are enamored with a pitchman, not an executive.
BTW, now that people have pointed out that the Amico won't have 100% exclusives, Tommy now says "People are fixating on games that aren't exclusives! Where did that come from? Why are people making a big deal about that?" forgetting that it was TOMMY who made a big deal about it. In his earliest interviews, if anyone asked "Why couldn't they just play these games on phones or an iPad?" Tommy would lose his shit and say "All our titles will be EXCLUSIVE. You won't be able to play these games anywhere else!". Then when people started noticing the high number of ports, Tommy said "They have exclusive features and are made specifically for the Amico controller. The controller makes them unique". Then when people pointed out that one of the big selling points is "you don't need to buy expensive controllers, you can use your phone as a controller", therefore the games couldn't REQUIRE the Amico controller, so what makes them "exclusive"? Then some people (who seemed to actually support the Amico) asked the next logical question of "What is the requirement for being on the Amico? What qualifies as 'exclusive'? Does the simple fact that it runs on the Amico and can use the controller enough to be considered an 'exclusive feature'?" Tommy didn't answer those uncomfortable questions and instead went into victim mode. He called people haters and trolls and fake accounts (some AtariAge members were playing a really long con and had the prognostication skills to register their fake accounts 15 years ago) and came up with his "why are people suddenly so obsessed with exclusive titles?" position. And it was funny for TT to play the "fake account" card when most of the biggest Amico fanboys have accounts less than six months old AND ask such hard hitting questions like "So are you telling me, for $250 I get TWO controllers and games only cost $5-$10? Why would I ever buy a console for $500 that only comes with one controller and games cost $70? This sounds like the deal of a lifetime". I mean, they may as well have asked "Mr. Burns, why are you so popular?"
I enjoyed Amico supporters saying it wasn't a lie that no crowdfunding would be used. Yet, it used a crowdfunding website. The trigger word was "Indiegogo 2.0." Lawd Geezus! That triggered one particular commenter!
HKgaming he’ll just go talk shit in the forums and encourage channels with a couple hundred subs to make thumbnails of Pat and Ian and talk about how wrong they are
What do you think of the marketing video? Do you think it will persuade potential investors and retailers? Will it work in getting more preorders? ------------ After recording, it seems that the investment/preorder page was updated to include all the preorders from the two separate campaigns so far: www.fig.co/campaigns/amico
Any reaction to RTUSAs follow up vid addressing the interview and your reaction to it? His fans seem to be way more negative even calling Ian some lame things after seeing one cherry picked clip
I think he had some good points, like he admits he should've gone after Tommy harder with the questions, but some bad points too, like an intelivision Hat Sweatshirt and mug aren't compensation
Fig is a highly questionable crowd funding platform. A RUclipsr called Stop Drop and Retro did a couple of videos on how easy it is to inflate dollar amounts a campaign can collect.
Usually for something like this, parents just let their young kids use their old cell phone which has some old mobile games on it but no data connection, and the kids are happy with that. What this changes is adding the interactive element. It would need to be a family that doesn't already have a Switch though, and for some reason doesn't want one.
Exactly, thats where the "3 Billion Casual gamers" Tommy always talks about comes from. the barrier to entry is low(an old cellphone) that's why its such a huge market, thoose same casuals Tommy's trying to appeal to would never spend 300 to do the same thing they can do on there phone. i never seen the market for this thing tbh...
I’ll take a crack at it, I have not preordered the Amico, but am still positive and planning on picking it up despite these two. Why? Can I play games like this on my phone, sure with the caveat of touchscreen only controls, more ads than I get on broadcast TV. And it’s still not something I can do with my family. Yes there are retro games that fill this niche as well (I have most of the mini consoles that have been released, and still see family members balk at Phantasy Star 4, or Super Star Soldier. I am hopeful, but am not going to spend my time or my life trying to look for cracks in the Armor. It ain’t over until it releases, until then hype to build it up or prove it’s a massive scam, is energy I can put elsewhere.
The minute any industry boomer tries to allienate core gamers who arent under 10 years old/dont play with their parents, i stop listening. Go into the toy industry if you just want to market to families.
Yeah but isn't Nintendo also guilty of this in alot of ways? Think about that Labo thing, that's just one example they have also been dumbing their games down too
@@akeminakajima449 Nintendo is definitely guilty of this, but at least they are allowing non-kiddy games onto the switch. They definitely cater to the elementary school crowd though
Rich flat out admitted he gave a softball interview and apologized, and just about everything critical he said about Pat was over their Diablo Immortal altercation and lingering bad blood over it, not for Pat and Ian merely being skeptical and critical over the Amico. Pat and Ian have generally been on point over this. the only thing I'd criticize in the CU Podcast Amico coverage is Ian flying off the handle at Rich like he embezzled money from an orphanage when all he did was give a softball interview where he failed to challenge Tommy properly and made the mistake of wearing Tommy's merch as though to imply an endorsement.
Brace yourself for the Tommy groupies! He posted this 4 hours ago: "Yep. It's the true definition of fascism that folks like my grandparents and relatives fought so hard against back in Italy. We see it everyday online with politics and social themes. How dare I give a counterpoint to their misinformation. HOW DARE I! I MUST BE SILENCED!!! I always like to reference how badly triggered Ian got when discussing us and the fact that Rich was wearing a sweatshirt with our logo on it."
Already started. His supporters are out to. You get this feeling that some of the commenters have a personal stake in the system. The venom being spewed. Instead of respectfully disagreeing, everyone has daggers and grenades out.
I'm glad you actually posted this and left it here, most live sessions mysteriously disappear. For all the people that hate on you and Ian, you leave it all on the table and you stick to your convictions. So screw them all.
TT's promises: 'NO DLC No micropayments - all 100% exclusive games @ low price' - he already broke the game cost promise. The other promises will be broken as well. Very easy to present the bad news as, 'Either the terms change or developers will walk away.' Like with the Wi, shovelware makers have lots of clout, in time. What happens when systems fail, do they have parts to repair ? Worst thing, if Nintendo or MSFT or Sony lower prices. Best to wait a year, as with all new consoles. 'Exclusive' agreements usually end after one year, only Sony has agreements that lock a game up, MSFT + Amico will not get more than 'exclusive version with one special level' or somesuch. TT has been caught in numerous lies, one is patented tougher/easier game intelligence, another is hyping 64 direction controls. Only Sinistar and one other game ever made use of 64 directions, and this is at an arcade pay-per-play level. Thus, a worthless feature. Not hyping sales on our past, absolute demonstrable lie. Marketing is seduction hype and lies, so no problem. TT pushes how he is 'REAL' not the case, and not excusable on youtube where authenticity is valued. Hope there is coverage of his four hour show with RTech - 'elite gamers are racists' comment
I think this Amico thing will be huge meme, I think Tommy lives in some kind of illusion bubble that he could change sth. on gaming market, it is same kind of route that Ouya CEO have and we know how this kind of promises ended.
Tommy's problem is that he's surrounded by yes men, and RUclipsrs who love him because he has given them a drive in his Ferrari. This has fooled himself into thinking people want this.
@@widdowson91 Yes, but when I saw some of this overly positive video's about Amico I smell foavour of money behind of this. For example this Smash JT clout chaser video's... Most example his video about exposing Pat as fraud XD. Smash is literally example od person who suck someone's ball to seriously. I know that Pat and Ian had their poor takes, where the fuck he was fraud about talking about his concerns about Amico. Any critique for Tommy's boys is pure hate...
@@MrDwadi84 I've seen some of Smash JT's videos on the topic, and they're just cringe bait. I also had an argument with Tommy in the comments on one of this videos (I think it was one of his). @@widdowson91 Smash is know to smear other youtubers and act as he is victim. I am almost 100 sure that it will nothing more than some generic ARM SoC.
@@MrDwadi84 Tommy takes any criticism of the Amico as an attack on him personally. He's very immature, yet he has the audacity to look down on people who disagree with him.
Id say the Wii and the Switch have been the most recent industry disruptors, and the PlayStation before that. Weird the two Nintendo consoles disrupted an industry that their company has been pillar of for the past 3 decades.
Disruptors? Wii was the market leader, Switch has been the market leader for 3 straight years and will overtake the PS4 in install base when all is said and done. So 2013-2016, Sony was the market leader, but for most of the time since 2006, it has actually been Nintendo.
Not to denigrate the Switch, but its outselling other consoles currently because they came out over 6 years ago. Also, I dont think its going to outsell the PS4 over its lifespan. Well maybe it will if Nintendo launches the Switch U and its such shit that they can it and run the Switch through another console gen like they did with the Wii. Even Nintendo fanboys will agree that aside from portables, Nintendo hasnt _led_ the market since the early '90s. Very much a strong part of it, but lead? Nope. And I love the Switch.
@@575forza I think Switch overtakes PS4 inside of 3 years. It will sort of be like when PS3 overtook the 360, many remember 360 being the better seller at their peaks, but lifetime sales, PS3 actually did establish a slightly larger market share overall when it was all said and done.
You can only fund $1. They already have the systems made, this isn't crowdfunding for the system. Look it up on google and get the facts for yourself before youtube
I loved that game. The first for Insomniac. Just wish someone could find the unreleased 3DO version (which was the original before being ported to the PS1).
This is a good question. People will do anything to regain their lost youth? Maybe we remember some things too fondly and perhaps some things weren’t that great originally and should just stay buried.
I believe that copyright laws aren't really applied and or the original company ceased operations and the nostalgia feeling it might offer to make a comeback
Pat’s not wrong. I made a mistake of giving my 2.5yo daughter an iPad one afternoon. She’s now 3.5 and quite intuitive with the device. Going as far as recording videos and almost uploading them onto RUclips.
The "patent-pending" Karma thing would fail simply for prior art. Besides all the rubber-banding AI examples others have mentioned, there was a futuristic Pong update in 1984 that did almost the same thing as Tommy described. Lucasfilm Games very first title, Ballblazer, was a first person Pong/Air Hockey game with a sci-fi twist. As you scored more points in your hovercraft puck, the goal posts would move closer together making shooting the ball through them much harder while your opponent could score just by getting the ball past your hovercraft until the scores got closer.
Ah good old CrBot and CTF... When they would run around the levels and get better as they mapped it out... On higher levels they used to use the grapple gun and all... And yeah the pack in bots on the first Unreal... Good memories!
The Intellivision was one of the few companies to survive the video game crash after Mattel sold it off to a former executive and the engineers stayed. That would have been a time to capture the market. Once Nintendo filled the void, chances afterward have always been slim to none. I like them, but they are a niche in the current market.
This should have just been an Intellivision Mini (that looked like the Intellivision I or II) with wireless controllers (w/display) and full game library. That's their audience. This thing is all over the place and, because of it, isn't anything to anyone.
@@joshua.snyder - The only reason I say it should be a mini console is the original system had games that required those controller overlays. Plus, the controllers, love 'em or hate 'em, are really what made the Intellivision unique.
Not that I expect the Amico to be anything more than a laughing stock, but I have to take issue with the "when you count for inflation" thing. People's buying power haven't matched with inflation since the late 80s, especially in the US. If electronics were still sold for the same margins, no one would be able to afford them.
Amico missed the families playing together market by not releasing before quarantine. Used loose wii bundles are selling for hundreds. Come October families are going to want to get the hell away from each other.
You guys were much too nice to the Amico. If you go back to the first 25 sales pitches from Tommy: “we want a fun, family, retro-feel, Intellivision feel system; with all 125 original games pre-loaded, all for $159.” “It’s very important to us that we’re affordable to anyone, we’re going for the masses”. What do they release? A console with 500 features, flashing lights, bells and whistles, the games are chalk full of bells and whistles, all for the low, low price of $400. Plus investment in new games as they come out. Lol .... other than friends and family and reviewers, no one is buying this thing. Besides, they butchered the updated titles of the original Intellivision games. Night Stalker, Shark and Astrosmash all look like “Times Square on New Year’s Eve”. They’re so busy, you can’t follow what’s going on. I have a Wii with a crazy controller, and I have an Intellivision. The Amigo has no value to me. Ps) no one loves Missile Command. There’s a reason why we don’t wear parachute pants and tie-die anymore. Missile command and moon patrol redone? Lol really??? No one wants those awful games. Unless they come free with the console.
Both sides should just avoid mentioning each other to show their maturity. I don't like soap operas. I'm not doing a video on my channel to say why others should hate it too...oh yeah but if it gets them views to talk about it, then....
I think there is a market for this and I'm interested in Amico. I just don't know if the people targeted will buy or not. I would like to see it do well and hope those casuals will come into console gaming with this. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.
@Svon I've been looking for a concept of a console similar to this for awhile. Smaller and cheaper games and arcade like experience. I really say it a lot better here. ruclips.net/video/v-TapR5fvR8/видео.html I will say I think it is overpriced and I'm currently disappointed in the games not being any more evolved than a coat of paint of shoehorned multiplayer.
@@worldofretrogameplay6963 Unfortunately not much has changed. I would still like to see it do well. However, it was overhyped and looks nothing like promised. So it is interesting to watch from a trainwreck perspective and I kind of hope they have something up their sleeve.
And some more Tommy, 5 hours ago. Anyone see some familiar themes? "For ignorant lost souls like that... there is no sense leaving a comment or trying to have a real conversation. Their only goal is to survive within their own pack. The more they rip on it the more they feel secure within their tribe. It's not a system for them. That's okay. The fun part will be when they eventually go over someone's house who has one and realize that everything they thought they knew about the machine was false and that they just didn't understand it."
I guess we "just don't understand" how taking a system like an Xbox One and removing features and charging more for it makes it a "market disrupter". I went on the Xbox games store today and looked for games under $10 and there were HUNDREDS. And they had couch co-op. Maybe junior would like the OPTION to play a Minecraft or an Ori and the Blind Forest. Maybe he'd like the OPTION to invite his friend to play in his Minecraft treehouse since (because of the pandemic) he can't come over to play. Maybe junior is having a 12th birthday and would like the OPTION to play a T-rated game his parents approve of (like an NBA Jam or Castle Crashers). And maybe while he's waiting for his friend to finish lunch, he'd like the option to play a cartoon on Disney+ until he gets a message pop-up from his friend. And he can do all that right now for $180 on a Xbox One S.
Product slogans have really changed since I was a kid. "The Apple Macintosh: The computer for the rest of us" "The Amico: You have a question? Then it's not the system for you. Get the fuck out of here!"
Here’s the deal...butter is much harder than margarine...it is tough to butter your toast with straight out of the refrigerator butter. Forget this TT system nonsense do a video exclusive on the “Butter Butler”...for the times when you just want to stop at the drugstore for grocery “essentials” and they only have sticks of butter.
@@MrDwadi84 well I think he's also missing the point of Technology because the amazing thing about technology today is that even if your best friend lives like a thousand miles away from you through the internet you can still play video games with him. Where's in the past if you moved a thousand miles away you would never be able to play video games with him until you were in the same part of the world. Yeah is it nicer having somebody right next to you to play with and kind of feeding off each other while you're battling it out in video games to a certain extent but with the way the internet is now you can almost have that same experience with the person that's a thousand miles away from you just minus their body being next to yours on the couch playing video games in the same room. It also allows you to make friends with people from countries you may never get a chance to physically visit. I'm sure the 90s kid would love to have the kind of technology that we have today to be able to do the things that we are able to do with the internet today
@@allenwaters2975 Yes that's it, internet is huge invention that connected the world, helped to work from home etc. Tommy's idea is stupid and agaist common sense. Today's Rich video gives even more cringe. I am vocal about that he mostly reinvent the wheel. For example imagine that he reveal after 3 years that Amico will have set of sticky buttons for smartphone screen, IDK if this guy is trolling or live under rock, but such thing like sticky buttons for touch screens are present for years, even more funny is that he stated they they will be patenting this. This guy name critiques that we not make research and he knows everything etc. I do not know what to say but he looks like he lose any contact with reality...
@@MrDwadi84 he's also out of touch with what people want in a gaming system and if people are going to drop two hundred bucks on a system they're going to want to system that plays something more than Android quality gaming. they're going to want something that's more than a touch screen controller and they're going to want the ability to play with friends and strangers over the internet. Especially now in the time of social distancing couch play is not recommended. Also if you want Android quality gaming on your TV you can do that for cheaper than two hundred bucks all you need is it $30 device like Chromecast or Roku. I don't care if this thing came with a million games out of the box if none of them are any good then it doesn't matter. Because history of video gaming has shown us that is not a system with a gimmick that sells it is a system that has consistently good games come out for it that sell. I mean the wii was basically an everyone console not so much a gamer console like the PS4 but it also had a good library of Gaming that's why it ended up in so many households. Yet it still offered what people wanted like online play and online services and Estore and stuff like that. when you're selling a product you don't look at how the market was you look at where the market is and try to fit your product into the market as it is today not as it was in 1995.

this marketing seems like a lot of smoke and mirrors and hoping that nobody notices and it isn't smart cause for most it won't take much to figure out what you guys did in half in hour of looking at this maybe they have to look up more stuff but it doesn't take long to deflate the balloon of the marketing they have done for this product which is even more sad when you start to realize these guys mostly believe their own lies which makes it pointless to argue with them over anything
It's classic narcissistic personalities and gaslighting. The more they have to backtrack and revise the broken promises, the more they have to dig in to deny reality just to save face and convince themselves they're still in the right. It is pointless engaging with these kind of wonks when their only agenda is rejecting reality like any good narcissist.
I _despise_ people who say gaming is only solitary. It's not... and never really was. Such a solitary activity that I play games with my brother, friends and boyfriend. Yes, SO SOLITARY! Even though the Amico isn't top tier or anything, I thought it could have been a cute console. Something I can play with my parents who don't really play new games or games at all. However, the entire thing has been squandered, which is a bit of a shame since something like this could be okay for the right people.
26:00 yes, Battle Garegga is one of them. It's a unique case because manipulating the difficulty scaling is a central gameplay mechanic. Most notably, you have to limit weapon pickups to avoid the rank getting too high, take intentional deaths (the resulting explosion does heavy damage to enemies) to lower your rank all while scoring enough points to get a consistent supply of 1-ups. It's actually much more fun than it sounds.
You know. I cant believe people are gonna fall for this scam for like the third time now. Coleco chameleon, Ataribox, now intellivision amico, say any second gen console and slap a generic name at the end. Yall will never change with how you get so hyped with making a new console that never actually gets shown physically.
Is he still making his every generation prediction of "This will be the last generation of standalone consoles" followed on alternate years by "This is the last generation for dedicated handheld consoles" and every third year by "PC Gaming is dead for good". Since he's been making the same predictions since 1996, he must have them generated on a spreadsheet by now.
Tommy, 4 hours ago, on Earthworm Jim. Does anyone think anything has been done on this game yet? "All I said in an interview once is that the original Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 weren't just 2D side scrolling platformers and that they had mini-games between every level that people loved and that we loved and will continue to do in the new game... and maybe even to a higher extent. I also said that there won't be as much "platforming" as the originals because we always wanted to do so much more than that... but we're completely limited by the hardware at the time. Pat & Ian (as usual) completely misinformed people that EWJ 4 is going to a bunch of mini-games... so the haters latched on to that and speak it as gospel now. The way I look at it... the more people talking about EWJ 4 being an exclusive on Amico... the better!!! Because when the first trailers and screenshots come out... all that uneducated and misinformed crap goes away. Although knowing the level of ego some of these folks have... they'll probably take credit for it somehow. "
Even if there are hating on the game, you are just grasping at straws here. There is nothing except words for the game, no artworks, no gameplay, no teaser, no trailer, n o t h i n g. So the game could just not exist it an not even be in development it would be the same. Usually when you are talking about a game you show at least artworks or teasers and after you just your mouth. Because if the game is gonna change during development you may tell something that will raise fan expectations despite not being in the final game. (also known as Peter Moulyneux syndrom)

On top of that stores like Best buy often have deals where you can get a controller with either an XB1 or Ps4 at a reduced price or even sometimes free
Mike Kennedy got so lucky he never got that money. He would of took it and NEVER produced anything. He would of been hounded for years and years. Im not trying to compared Tommy to Mike. The Amico is just not doing anything that cant be done cheaper and/or better by other devices.
Intellivision Amico probably can't even compete with Atari VCS. Not to sound like a port beggar but honestly Earthworm Jim being exclusive to only the Amico is probably gonna be the reason why Earthworm Jim falls into obscurity again.
New subscriber here. Sorry it took me a while to find you guys, but I wasn't sure who Tommy kept railing about with his P&I rants. Irony is I wouldn't have known about your podcast if not for Tommy having a hissy fit about it, despite you guys having a lot more followers than Amico or the company itself. For the record, I don't see anything remotely unfair about your coverage. If anything, it's a little soft on the ridiculous claims and indefensible backtracking. It's amazing how one guy's effort to cash in on dubious claims attracts zealots happy to bow at his feet and carry his banner like fundamentalist religious nuts.
Let's face it. The Amico only looks good when compared to the absolute dumpster fires of the (Not Really)Atari VCS and the Polymega. It's like one of those summers where a big blockbuster was about to come out and all the low-budget studios tried to rush a knockoff onto the market to grab some crumbs. Like the year of James Cameron's The Abyss was coming out, you had Leviathan, Lords of the Deep, and Deepstar Six. The latter two were just unwatchable (pre-MST3K) which made Leviathan look like a winner in comparison. But at the end day, Leviathan was still a crappy knockoff underwater movie.
To Tommy Tallarico - I believe that Pat & Ian has legitimate points and calling out any opposing views as haters is wrong. So, I am going to ask my questions regarding the Amico here, as I believe you should engage in discussions on "hostile territory" as well as well as friendly : 1. Will there be any single-player games for the Amico or do all games need a multiplayer component? 2. Will there be keyboard support? Some games could benefit from keyboard, yes? 3. Observation: You comment on Pat's statement that mobile games hasn't taken over. You perceive this as false. Your argument is that mobile has larger numbers of players and larger revenue. Allow me to make an analogy, even though everybody should be careful with analogies: You (Tommy Tallarico) probably remember Ghostbusters (1984) fondly. It is probably the defining move of that year. However, it was not the highest grossing movie that year. But Ghostbusters still "took over". Most people will have to look up what the highest grossing movie of 1984 was - because it lost the cultural victory. When Pat Contri states that mobile games hasn't taken over - he is correct from the viewpoint of advancement in graphics and audio. Domination is not only about eyeballs and dollars. Thank you for your time!
1. All games are both single & coop 2. No keyboard support. 3. I just did a Google search and top 3 sites all confirmed to my surprise that mobile gaming is making more money than any of the 3 current gen systems...which is not what I expected.
More Tommy: "It's just nothing more than a pathetic handful of elite hardcores trying to grasp on to anything they can so their nauseating hatred within themselves is justified."
Pat, why don't you interview Tommy? With the hard-hitting questions that you and Ian have crafted over the past year or so, it could be the interview that propels the popularity of your podcast to the top tier permanently.
www.healthyway.com/content/interview-with-a-narcissist-looking-inside-the-grandiose-and-equally-anxious-mind/ Generally there's not much to be gained from interviewing a malignant narcissist, but this article makes a few good points.
As easy as it is to shit on the Amico controller, I think it had some cool ideas *in theory.* If you're trying to include the possibility of having people sub in their smartphones in lieu of a controller, then using the disc/wheel makes a little more sense than a thumbstick. When the original Intellivision used a number pad with overlays, replacing that with a touchpad not only removes the need for overlays, but developers could use that screen to create a unique layout for their game, instead of sticking to the 12-key grid of the original. Does it mean that the controller was a good idea? Maybe not. But it had some interesting ideas
Can anyone explain why the rich review tech guy and other youtuber folk seem to really love the Amico? I don't get it. Unless they are friends of the creator, why are they supporting this? It seems like Flash games to me. Old flash games on an overpriced console.
I'm a fan of Pat and Ian. I'm also a fan of Tommy. I saw a demo of Breakout on the Amico and it looks awesome. I also played the Moon Patrol demo and had fun. It would be cool if they all sat down and played the Amico together.
You guys should get some butter butler gear made, and then interview the butter butler spokesmen with the fuzziest feel good questions imaginable. Then you can do a follow up video where you whine about Hitch from pewpewtechuk called you shills. Make sure you’re decked out in the butter butler gear again. Might as well have some fun with it
Pat isn’t wrong, video games have always been 50-60 bucks. BUT we have indie games that emulate an old school experience and cost under ten bucks (unless it’s octopath traveller). To say it’s overly complicated now though tommy has it ass backwards. I like what the amico could be but the controller instead of growing on me is seeming more inconvenient. It’d be better with a phone pad than a touch screen because let’s face it, play chrono trigger on your iPhone, the lack of tactile controls sucks.
@@andywolan I thought Chrono Trigger was like $80-$90+ at time of release? I wanna say that Phantasy Star IV for Genesis/ Mega Drive was either $90 or $100. Most new SNES gamess were $59.99, some of the RPGs were $69.99-$79.99, sometimes there would be cheaper games at $49.99.
It is possible it hit the $80's in some stores. I remember paying like $65 for TMNT4 thinking it was the most expensive SNES game at the time, only to see an another game selling in the $70's
Y’all were talking about Nintendo and Second party without mentioning Pokémon Nintendo doesn’t completely own Pokémon Pokémon is a second party company for Nintendo
Why not just use your Shield right now to play those kinds of games (and much more demanding and diverse games)? Even that Evel Knievel game they keep showing is available right now plus you can use a real controller instead one that looks like a Zune fucked an Intellivision controller.
Over 99.9% of Amicos sold will be bought by RUclips reviewers.
here’s the thing: the amico would be in a completely different place right now if it weren’t for tommy making himself the face of the system. he has been nothing but offputting and sleazy. the videos he released, i watched the earthworm jim one where they showed no footage just a bunch of dudes looking at a laptop that they said was running earthworm jim, the videos have been dishonest. the amico saga has just been a long series of red flags.

Imagine falling for the Ouya. Imagine falling for it twice.
@AMysticSeer If I remember correctly, day 1 the Ouya was plagued with bugs, bad ports and shovelware. It did have some indie gems, but that was likely a happy accident rather than anything related to the hardware.

Tommy has now lied on at least four points, which he accused others of being haters, or liars about:
1. The Amico will cost $179 or less than $200. It is now at least $250.
2. It will have exclusive software titles only. (He apparently counts "playable on Amico controllers" as exclusive"🙄.)
3. Amico will not be crowdfunded. (I am sure he justifies his backtrack by claiming it is an investment.)
Joshua Snyder Well said. Also, Pat and Ian were very fair and calm about this, so the super fans won’t be able to shout and rant about “hate.”

My new favorite show introduction: "Ladies and Gentlemen, my co-host...The Butter Butler...Ian,"
It sounds like he wants to take Nintendo's place as the Disney of video games and there's already a Disney of video games Nintendo.
I think Tommy tries to be significant, but his poor takes makes him to be only as clown
@@allenwaters2975 No no he knows best because he have Guinnes etc. If you have time watch the whole stream Rich channel. Specially part with sudo new age agenda :D, he even said that when he was kid he imagined himself as Intellivision CEO XD But this stream should be about console and I do not know why Tommy brings the story of his life to play on feelings
The amico will never reach the intuitive heights of the Butter Butler. Never has buttering my toast been so simple.
And at 1/10 the price!
the amico is destined to be an avgn video
this marketing seems like a lot of smoke and mirrors and hoping that nobody notices and it isn't smart cause for most it won't take much to figure out what you guys did in half in hour of looking at this maybe they have to look up more stuff but it doesn't take long to deflate the balloon of the marketing they have done for this product which is even more sad when you start to realize these guys mostly believe their own lies which makes it pointless to argue with them over anything
It was idiotic from the start
I think it's pretty obvious that the end-game for this product is to get in the store shelves at Kohl's (not that there's anything wrong with that).
I'd honestly be surprised if this does over 100k units.
@@josephrowe2202 Amen to that.
You just don't understand Tommy's passion for bringing families together!
Will family be included as DLC?
Oh my God, after so many Years Pachter is still around -.-'
Is he still making his every generation prediction of "This will be the last generation of standalone consoles" followed on alternate years by "This is the last generation for dedicated handheld consoles" and every third year by "PC Gaming is dead for good". Since he's been making the same predictions since 1996, he must have them generated on a spreadsheet by now.
really looking forward to the aero the acrobat flappy bird game
Yeah, but does it run NBA Jam Tournament Edition?
Even if there are hating on the game, you are just grasping at straws here.
There is nothing except words for the game, no artworks, no gameplay, no teaser, no trailer, n o t h i n g.
So the game could just not exist it an not even be in development it would be the same.
Usually when you are talking about a game you show at least artworks or teasers and after you just your mouth. Because if the game is gonna change during development you may tell something that will raise fan expectations despite not being in the final game. (also known as Peter Moulyneux syndrom)
www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/toxic-relationships/201903/how-confront-narcissists-lethal-weapon-projection
The lack of self awareness is stupefying. It's really not even about the product at all anymore, just the antics of the pitchman who revels in assaulting anyone who doesn't adore the constantly evolving pitch. From his many rants and attacks on social media, he favors projecting ignorance, ego and immaturity on everyone who doesn't lavish him with praise. This from a college drop-out who buys awards and world record certificates for himself, and has a 6 foot action figure in his dedicated Spiderman collection room. You couldn't cut that irony with a wood chipper.
Feel stupid yet? You should
why has james rolfe never been a guest on the show?
Because he likely doesn't want to associate with them anymore.
@@thomast847 didnt he recently do a review of combat with pat?
James lives on the East coast and has a lot of projects he's constantly working on. The Combat video they did recently was when Pat was over their because of a convention and happened to be in the area. James hasn't done a lot of traveling, and right now it'd be near impossible to do a guest spot. Certain health crisis and all that.
@@thomast847 Or, more likely, because there's never been guests on this non-interview podcast.
i heard they are bringing back cool spot as a spot the difference game
17:03 - pause...new tab...google "butter butler"
Immediately adds Butter Butler to que
Awhile ago he mentioned Special Edition Physical Games for 'bestsellers' with an amazing technology we wouldn't believe and was patent pending so he couldn't talk about it.
If that's still happening I would be interested as a collector. But I feel like that's not happening.
Tommy gives free rides in his Ferrari if you’re willing to test the unit out and shill for his product.
Why didn't you guys accept Tommy's invite to come try it out?
They will sell none if they don't have a commercial. No one knows about it
To Tommy Tallarico - I believe that Pat & Ian has legitimate points and calling out any opposing views as haters is wrong. So, I am going to ask my questions regarding the Amico here, as I believe you should engage in discussions on "hostile territory" as well as well as friendly :
1. All games are both single & coop
He shouldn't talk about his Mom like that.
Pat, why don't you interview Tommy? With the hard-hitting questions that you and Ian have crafted over the past year or so, it could be the interview that propels the popularity of your podcast to the top tier permanently.
www.healthyway.com/content/interview-with-a-narcissist-looking-inside-the-grandiose-and-equally-anxious-mind/
Generally there's not much to be gained from interviewing a malignant narcissist, but this article makes a few good points.

My cat uses the sandbox all the time !!!
Incorrect.
I wonder what happened to the 150 million line of credit for manufacturing? It was probably a lie, but it seems like that was dropped.
To be fair TT is a great musician but a probably not a good figurehead for a new console...
Nooooo! Not my tax euros :(
Im going to buy one, because i love nostalgia. I agree with you, it's not going to sell worth jack
When it comes out can we get a 1st annual Intellivision Amico Marathon?
I don’t see this selling 1 million (to actual players) total much less in one year.
Who needs this when you can build a MiSTer FPGA
esya1987 he means at launch.
I still plan on buying an Amico as soon as the funds allow.
Can anyone explain why the rich review tech guy and other youtuber folk seem to really love the Amico? I don't get it. Unless they are friends of the creator, why are they supporting this? It seems like Flash games to me. Old flash games on an overpriced console.
What cracks me up are the shills like Smash JT moaning every time you point out what a lame piece of crap this thing is.
I'm a fan of Pat and Ian. I'm also a fan of Tommy. I saw a demo of Breakout on the Amico and it looks awesome. I also played the Moon Patrol demo and had fun. It would be cool if they all sat down and played the Amico together.
Pat when you calm down we can go get a cup of coffee
Caffeine gets me amped.

Who else wants to know where Ian gets his laptop stickers?
Just you.😂
So why did you touch the 1-UP at 10:55
Ian said "Limit"/"limited"
I remember RPGs/battery back up games for SNES were 79.99 at Toys R' Us. I think some even exceeded that, and some places charged more.
Ya, I recall seeing a Chrono Trigger or some other RPG game at Toy's R Us that was selling for in $70's, which for the time was INSANE!
@@andywolan Just checked and it did release at $79.99. I could only imagine how much it was in Canada, yikes!
It is possible it hit the $80's in some stores. I remember paying like $65 for TMNT4 thinking it was the most expensive SNES game at the time, only to see an another game selling in the $70's
Y’all were talking about Nintendo and Second party without mentioning Pokémon
Nintendo doesn’t completely own Pokémon
Pokémon is a second party company for Nintendo
Tallarico is going to make shitty flash games great again
I think it looks fun for something casual. I'll buy one. Granted i'll probably use it less than my nvidia shield (which I never use).
Why not just use your Shield right now to play those kinds of games (and much more demanding and diverse games)? Even that Evel Knievel game they keep showing is available right now plus you can use a real controller instead one that looks like a Zune fucked an Intellivision controller.
Just have an old fashioned Intellivision vs other consoles ad like back in the day, problem solved
