I finally did it! Thanks to your tutorial and the advice you gave along the way. I successfully upgraded my G6 pavilion from A6-3420 to a A8-3500. WITHOUT a hiccup. My temps have been halved and I can now enjoy my laptop for a few more years. Thankyou!

Man you’ve given me the confidence to do something similar on my old HP envy. Thankfully I won’t be replacing CPU as it’s a i7 albeit a 3rd gen. However I think it’s still good enough. So I will leave it. I’m going to do the rest as you did. Change the HDD to and SSD, also increase RAM and get myself another battery too. I might just add some thermal paste on the cpu if I’m brave enough to dissemble that far. Good job bro. Thanks again for this video.

I bought a laptop model hp pavilion g6 2151sf in the state. This computer had a defective fan and the battery was out of order. I managed to resurrect the fan, I also took the opportunity to change the thermal paste and dust the PC after a day of testing the fan problem did not return. Currently this computer has 8 GB of RAM and an Intel 3 2350m processor. I would like to try to find an i7 processor

i've had luck reviving batteries with an external charger (just a voltage regulated power supply) to get some starting charge in there. some laptops say the battery is bad when they are empty (haven't been used in a few months)
i'm pretty sure it would! Just try it and if it doesn't work, return the 16gb and go back to 8gb. it will either work, or it won't work. :) doesn't hurt to try.

Unfortunantly after looking at my model: HP Pavillion g6-1015TU, I think that means it is the previous intel Generation. At the moment it has intel Core i5-480M. Is it still possible to increase to i7 or would that require a whole new 2nd generation mother board? If not the increse to 8GB Ram and SSD will still make a big inprovement. In your experience does switching to SSD and 8GB Ram increase runnning temperature? as my core temp can reach 95 sometimes 105 degrees. I've....got a few laptops that deffently need work on after they got drowned in a flood I let both of the dry out and only my Acer laptop ran for a good while before it stopped working and the charger light began blinking when it wasn't supposed to not sure what may else be wrong with it On the other hand I have an HP 2000-c427 (kinda looks like the G6 in this video) With the AMD E450 APU that also drowned it turned on for a split second before tossing up the single flashing caps lock key before shutting off or trying to boot again At this point it's a major headache not being able to fix them with out cash ._.

You have to do research and find out what the max your motherboard supports. Just find your serial number, type it in on your computers support site, and they have a supported cpu/memory list. That’s what I did and I saw that an i7 would work in this one. But it was like 4 times the cost as the i5.
You will have to do your own research. Find hp’s supportive and put in the model that you sent me. Then goto supported CPU’s. If it’s on the list, hp says it should work. That’s what I did, and I bought the best one on the list that was within budget.

There was one apu that cost 4-5X as much as the one I bought. Roughly £80-90.

both! the SSD makes the computer start up literally 100 times faster and so do programs. the CPU helps the programs run much better as well.
