Thank you Jordan for a superb video! Your presentation brought back many memories. I first stayed at the Golden Nugget when Steve Wynn was with Frank Sinatra in a TV commercial advertising the "new" Golden Nugget. I played Baccarat for the first time at this property and got a kick out of the fact they had $20 chips versus $25 chips in order to make the winning Banker hand 5% commission an even $1 per $20 bet. The table minimum was only $20. Thank you for all the hard work you put in on your presentations!
I stumbled across your page (new sub) and I value both you and your wife's opinion.. I began searching for the Golden Nugget review and realised you didn't have one.. I'm so happy to see this video.. Thank you and continue to make great content
Last year, I paid $140 at Hilton, which is the cheapest one of the three hotels, in Resort World. A small, compact room like yours but new and very nice. I played roulette and won $1,500 which paid for the week-long stay there!
Golden Nugget is the only Fremont property I have ever stayed at, and I loved it. I love all those Landry's restaurants. I think they did the same thing with me when I checked in early (paying the fee, but getting a nicer room). The pool is great. The aquatic tank is very cool. The slide is a great idea, but you really can't see anything as you go through. I actually enjoy the decor, but your description is pretty accurate, haha.
GN was my go to place downtown for years. My last stay, however was very disappointing. I was alone and treated poorly at several of their restaurants when I wanted a table for 1. Room furniture was beat up and that was in the Rush Tower. Vic and Anthony’s was outstanding but the odd restaurant schedule of the others was a big turnoff. Finally, blackjack tables required you to play those extra games that no one ever wins, in addition to your regular bet. I sat at a very fun full table. There was a terrific energy and everyone was having a great time. There was a player next to me who occasionally cursed. Nobody objected. He was funny and in a good mood. It’s downtown Las Vegas; not church. The dealer kept harassing him about it. We were all shocked. Eventually the dealer called over the pit boss and had the guy thrown out of the casino! I sent an email to GN when I got home and no one bothered to respond. I will not go back.

I stayed in Downtown Grand for a work trip about a week before you were there! Fremont was crazy at all times during the night. Briefly walked into Golden Nugget, wasn't really impressed by it. Hey Mr Jordan ! The jury’s still out for me on Freemont Street. I like some things about it but probably will never stay there . The upscale large resorts on the strip are my preference. I will say that last year I ventured over to Freemont and went to the mob museum speak easy which was cool . Then had 3 Long Island iced teas at Whiskey 🥃 Liquor Up rotating bar ….the nights a complete blur after that but my friends tell me I had a great time lol. Great review as always sir ! 😎😎😎
Cadillac has a really good happy hour during the week. Another hack we’ve had for the Nugget to save money, is sometimes Costco has Landry’s gift cards discounted. Can use them anywhere in the resort and even pay your hotel bill with them.
Great review as always. Stayed at the Nugget in July and really enjoyed it. I actually like the decor of the casino, but as you say, taste is subjective.
One of my sisters n I stayed there many decades ago in the mid-1990’s n loved it bcuz on a fluke on first n only spin, I WON over $200 off of 75 cents way back when the machines accepted coins, so it felt n sounded like a million $$ lols💕Wonderful n good memories❤️
Thanks for the video! Not a place I go to often when in Vegas, so it was good to here about your experience here. Definitely a great downtown deal. Looking forward to the walking tour.
Cadillac is an off shoot of the Cadillac Bar in Houston, which Tillman Frittita bought. The Original was in Nuevo Laredo. I was the general manager in Houston in 1985 & 1986.
Fertitta owns Landry’s, so that makes sense. I’m not sure if his proposed strip casino/hotel will be part of the Landry’s family as well, but it would be cool if it was. Thanks for watching!
wow, brain melted. i worked at the nugget a few years ago and hadn't seen it since i left vegas. the restaurant i worked at was right next to the pool where saltgrass is now. seeing it closed is shocking because i never saw it closed when i worked there less than a decade ago and it was very busy. landry's bought it while i worked there and made everything crappy.
Great Video, I really think The Golden Nugget is very Under Appreciated, I have always had a pleasant experience whenever I've Stayed there. Stay Safe Be Blessed Love 💖Joy ❤️
It’s sooooo busy there… but I like it. Small footprint, easy room access, nice restaurant selection, it’s kinda cozy and feels like home. Valet, check in, boom you’re there. And don’t sleep on Vic and Anthony’s for classy steakhouse vibes.
As with any property and food, get there before 9:00am or there will be a crowd. FYI Vic and Anthony's is great! Their service is quick and the wait staff seem to be there just when you need them.
We like the Rush Tower so if there’s a next time stay there. It’s definitely the busiest casino downtown. It’s so packed in the evenings, makes it difficult to walk around.
I was just there for the first time in late October. Restaurants: Claim Jumper and Vic & Anthony's especially were amazing. I had a great time playing craps and met some interesting people!
I’ve stayed at the Four Queens Hotel and Casino on Fremont Street.I really enjoyed the experience and that you can really go get something to eat or buy souvenirs not far from the hotel.
I am not a fan of Downtown Las Vegas, and have stayed there once in the last decade: that one stay was only because I won a trip (airfare/hotel stay/meals/transportation at the California) via my local newspaper’s football pick ‘em contest. 😁 The only three hotels downtown I would consider for a short stay are the Cal, the Plaza and Circa, primarily because they are the furthest removed from the Fremont Street environment (not interested in the Downtown Grand). Just seeing how many bars were located within Golden Nugget casino was a deterrent. Multiple bars within, all the outside bars on Fremont Street, the loud music and the smell of cigarettes and marijuana are all unappealing. A few drinks can be enjoyable, but the obnoxious drunkenness prevalent on Fremont Street are awful to see - and yet so many parents love to bring their young children there. It’s depressing. It’s a cheap vacation if you don’t gamble much, but why would you stay there if not gambling?
Great video. It will be interesting to see what Tilman does with his new hotel. When he bought Golden Nugget, the theme was pretty set. He just incorporated his restaurant line. He doesn't really have a hotel presence so I don't think he had much of a choice. I've heard he is calling his strip hotel The Post Oak, that's his hotel here in HTX, but I don't think it makes sense outside of here. I guess he could build that brand and then convert the Nuggets over. I don't know, but I agree that the Golden Nugget theming is kind of tired. The location he got on the strip could easily have a 2 floor casino to get more space and would be just slightly smaller than Cosmo.
I stayed at Golden Nugget last year. We had a room in the Carsen Tower. It was the worst room I've ever had. I lasted one night instead of four, and then headed to the Mandelay Bay lol.
Definitely never heard that one before. Maybe two hats on the bed cancelled each other out because I had pretty good luck on that trip. Thanks for watching!
Fremont Street is not as bad as people think it is. I went there this summer July 2024 and August 2024 I even believe it or not drove there alone to Las Vegas from California. You just gotta be aware of your surroundings. I went to visit a person that I thought was my significant other but just have a good time there’s lots to do in Fremont and there’s decent hotels if you’re not trying to spend too much money on the trip then I would recommend the plaza hotel nugget as well and I’ve heard the D is also very nice so don’t knock it until you try it
Nice video, but as many times as I was on Fremont Street and stayed there the GN never appealed to me I walked in once and played for a bit but did not care for the place. I don't know why. I got nothing against it, but someday that will change.
I have a soft spot for GN, brings a bit of Rat Pack Vegas nostalgia even though it's not on the strip; and their spa suite is one of my favorite rooms in Vegas. Your ironing board against the door is practically life changing for a woman that usually travels alone for work! I do this for a little-used door at home...why hadn't I thought to do it at hotels?!? 🤯🥳❤ Thanks for this review and great idea!
Haven't been at the Nugget in 30 years, looks very different. I always made a bee line for the craps tables. It took a while but I learned they are a waste of my time.
Vic and Anthony's is excellent. ChartHouse is ok, just an Eddie V's in a casino sort of thing, Red Sushi is great, and fresh, nicest employees in the resort tbh. Never been to the other steakhouse.
Nugget is my go to hotel downtown. Not as nice a Circa but way cheaper so you definitely get a better “bang for your buck”. Also only place with poker downtown. Unfortunately, over the last couple of years, the service has really gone downhill. Hoping it improves or may choose another hotel for my annual Vegas trip!

That was my door stopper. The room didn’t have a security latch, it had one of those handles that you turn up to engage a deadbolt.
