I saw this previously, but didn't really grasp the idea as I was practicing against computers(not really playing multiplayer at the moment). I was just catching up, as I just discovered HoTA like two years ago. Lately I was watching tournaments and multiplayer games. And I noticed that these players were really efficient. They're out of my league.. As usual I go to this channel, to find explanations of what those players are trying to do.
Thanks for creating these guides. Without these guides, I will get stuck playing against computers hehehe. I only tried playing multiplayer with my friends. I'm not good enough to challenge anybody online. I might just waste their time, if I don't put up a good fight. These guides you put up, really helps me improve my game.

@@alex_the_magician9483 Yes, I checked it. I was trying it out in game, just to have a grasp of it.
It's really different just watching your games and others, than actually making decisions in game.
If I have time, I'll try making a twitch account and follow your games. I'm not currently into twitch, as I just play casually. But heroes 3 has become a lot more interesting for me.
I'm glad you guys are investing time to put up guides for us :)

@@peterjohnjimenez Haha, yeah its true, before I started playing I watched streams and thought "oh this looks like I can do it", then trying to put it into practice myself was much harder. @@alex_the_magician9483 Yes you are right. I watched some of your games posted here. And reading the in game comments and you responding to them. Sometimes I'm like, it's not as easy as it looks.
The logic in battles can be simulated(by lot of loads in single player 😅). But the decision making on what objectives to be prioritized on the map... I don't think it has a blueprint.
I really like the fact that you always bring up other player strategies, before you explain your thought process. There's that in game feel to it. For someone like me with no multiplayer experience(except for my old buddies who used to play this), these things are really helpful. Not to mention your explaining and responding to comments in your streams, with the time is ticking 😊.
I hope you'll have more time creating these guides. These are time consuming stuffs and I appreciate it.
      Keep it up and Godbless!

It's the HD mod, and the Horn of the Abyss (HotA) unofficial expansion. You can get HotA for free here drive.google.com/file/d/1hVAGeDlGlpRW0Hg5aeKCfKy99-8Yjf2y/view - it already contains the necessary elements of the HD mod. This is so complex. I doubt I can master this game in matter of weeks. But that also means that I have something to play for a long time. This seems very realistic though. Irl you would also have to plan how to split your troops and be efficient with movement to make sure you get enough resourcrs as fast as possible. I always like this part of HOMM3.

Hero chaining and prioritizing objectives is where I also struggled. Alex has very nice guides in this channel. What I like about Alex is he explains how he views the map in an in-game manner. What his thought process is, when he see objects(artifacts, creature banks, etc.) in the map. What to prioritize first and why. This is where I struggled even now.

The verbal explanation is nice, but the fact that you speed up the whole montage, prevents us from seeing what you're actually explaining and thus makes us lose the thread of what's happening. Works much better if you're talking and doing at the same time, rather than talking and then only showing the end result.

@@alex_the_magician9483 Yes, if I had to make a suggestion it would be to filter out the time spent thinking (both what to say and what to do) and show the combats in slightly slower motion (still sped up) so people that want to can at least see what you fought, what you fought with, and general strategy. Some of this could be accomplished by pre-recording the game play, then just selecting the parts you want to explain. Could probably shorten a video like this by 10 minutes or more. Also, you might explain basic terms as you go for people that might not know, like "poor man" and "break".

  • @kriptexxx
    @kriptexxx 3 года назад +1

What is the point of making a guide on chaining and start at a point where you have already 6 heroes out? Like, how do I start? The video mostly explains the goal of chaining instead of the process of doing it.
For a viewer it is not relevant that on this map it makes sense to chain the shop, rather how you do it - how you spread out the heroes, which way to go with the first, second... hero, how much distance is necessary....

Hi Mikael! Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the placement of objects in this map is quite fortunate, but even in the case of a good map, it's important to know how to chain things properly. When I first started pvp I wasn't able to do something like this. If this is too simple for your skills - then great! But remember that there are also people who are just starting to learn the mechanics, and it's better to have something like this as a baby step to learn, instead of just throwing them into something really complex. In the future I will definitely make another video with more complex chaining off road/rough terrain etc.
By the way, not sure if you saw the second part - where I do demonstrate a more complex chain involving 8+ heroes and off roading (it starts at around 23 minutes).
P.S. If you're interested you can check out my Twitch stream where you'll see me play multiple games a day and deal with all sorts of situations, like bad biomes, bad roads, bad terrain, etc. It's tough to make one video that covers all situations as there are a lot of variables, so you may find the content you're looking for in the stream :).
