Hey, I've heard of people starting and operating separate LLCs for each of a number of rental properties. I'm wondering just how, when and why it might be useful/beneficial for a sole proprietor to form some sort of LLC for some specific application(s). I am starting to do a wide variety of metalworking, metal fabricating, etc.(from making jewelry, to blacksmithing, to welding repair, whatever and wherever I can come up with a profitable opportunity. How could/should I best protect my self?
Hey, (continuing): should I at some point start separate LLCs for each major type of work that I do-(welding,vs jewelry,vs metal casting, vs large fabrication/blacksmithing,etc.) effectively becoming several separate businesses- but sharing the same overall workspace facilities, and sharing many of the same tooling,(air compressors, torches, hammers, polishing equipment, etc.)? How could/should I separate/break up things/assets into distinct business entities? What are the limits to MY risk?
Hey, (continuing): If I can create separate LLCs for each major business activities- under an overall business name, then where, why, when and how do I determine the proper/legitimate cut-off/separations between two or more LLCs? Who should I talk to to do this legitimately- a Lawyer, or a CPA specializing in Small business administration,? I haven't got any one to help me yet. What might it cost me for such services? I need to focus on MY business activities, not be my own lawyer/CPA/etc.
Thank you. This was an assignment to watch. But I do have a question, in taxes for the LLC Are you saying to go with the LLP or completely with the SP regarding the taxation?. But it is my understanding and correct me if I am wrong, the LLC is a "pass-through" partnership. So, there would be no reason to do the taxes as a corporation, right? Again, because of the double taxation. A sort of safe guard to a small extent.
Got a question.. Starting my LLC went to the capitol filled out the form LLC1 all is good I just received a "Notice Number" what is a notice number? Everything is approved I will probably call IRS to get the EIN no. Thanks
Very insightful. I enjoyed the energy Keith had throughout the presentations.
Helping me with some logistics as I'm trying to start a new business!
That was helpful, thanks so much!!!

I was going to ask a question but I don't see that you've responded to others.
