Nephews of the late Pakistan music icon Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan perform 'Yaar Da Muhallah', taken from their new album At the Feet of the Beloved, out 14 March 2025 on Real World Records.
Imbued with the spirit of their late uncle, the qawwali master Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali have returned with another deeply accomplished, moving collection of songs that ache with the frenzied anxiety of falling in love and dreamy desire of devotion. Their vocals and arrangements are refined and, together with their party, they build a world that helps the listener connect to another one.
On 'Yaar Da Muhallah’, the group's vocal harmonies melt into each other like waves lapping on the shore. The devotion pours forth, ultimately religious and spiritual in nature but open to the listener on the type of love they hold in their own heart. In Qawwali, worship of the divine is a romantic ecstasy in of itself, as heard in the line, “I have dyed my heart in the beloved’s hue” where the vocals and instrumentation build in mesmerising intensity and passion.

LYRICS
Punjabi transcription and English translation
How could I leave my beloved’s neighborhood? Here, indeed, does my Lord reside.
Pilgrims flock to the Ka’aba, yet i long for Takht Hazara.
For where the beloved is, there too is the Ka’aba- on this, you may consult all four holy books.
I have taken his face as my Quran, knowing him to be my faith and creed.
I have no desire to stand before any door other than his; the beloved’s doorstep is my Ka’aba.
My mad heart says this constantly : here does my Lord reside.
For the world, it is a mere straw hut hut, yet to me, it is the highest heaven,
" Allah, Allah, Allah" is the one constant utterance there
I have dyed my heart in the beloved’s hue; seeing in him my Ka’aba I bowed my head.
The beloved’s doorstep is the loftiest heaven; here does my Lord reside.
However much I gaze upon him, my heart remains unsated.
Seeing him has as much reward as a pilgrimage to Mecca.
Through my friend, I see Allah! Here does my Lord reside
I cannot survive a single moment without my beloved;
in this world, I have no refuge but him alone.
Laying out my prayer mat, I recite his name in devotion.
Here does my Lord reside!

Wow, what a great . I am very grateful to the admin of Real World Records for accepting my opinion. And I want this platform to promote this beautiful program, Qawali which is a part of our tradition and culture, just as the respected Mr. Peter Gabriel invited Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on this platform and created a revolution in the music world. And I hope that by continuing this series, Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Zain Zohaib and other reputable Qawwals in this field will also be given a chance. I thank you very much once again.

Step into the trembling heat of Yaar Da Muhallah, where the voices rise and fall like a silk curtain stirred by a restless wind, carrying whispers of longing and devotion so deep it aches. This is no ordinary music, no polite affair for the background of a room. This is a fevered hymn, a love letter, a cry that slips between the sacred and the profane as naturally as twilight slips into night.
The singers do not just perform; they give themselves away, pouring every drop of themselves into the line, “I have dyed my heart in the beloved’s hue.” The words, drenched in yearning, shimmer with a raw honesty that cuts straight to the bone. And the music-it builds and twists like the slow coil of summer heat, growing heavier, richer, until it finally bursts in a flood of passion and surrender.
This is Qawwali: an invitation to lose yourself, to let your own desires meet their reflection in something vast and luminous. You don’t listen to it so much as you feel it-like the first kiss that leaves you breathless, undone, and wanting more.
Thank you for that beautiful explanation. The song could be enjoyed as simply entertainment, but so much lies deeper.

Uffff ❤❤❤ Missing NFAK 🔥🔥
I once again request you to have the same singers perform Night Songs, just like Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Night Song, in which Michael Brooks played a major key role.
Thanks ❤❤❤❤❤
Magnifico
🔥🔥🔥🤟

Kush missing hai.....wo wajd NAHI aaraha
Nicee
Never mix western instruments with eastern qawal instruments and apply more emphasis on base with a dholak and you will find a masterpiece.
Well. He's definitely done his homework. His hand gestures and facial expressions are exactly copied from his world-famous uncle.
He lacks the quality and perfect notes which the great Nusrat fateh Ali khan could effortlessly sing with
