i felt so terribly sad for Kata. like when i saw her at the rooftop garden on Koboh, i started a quest to find every damn seed in the game so she has some place to enjoy

Tanalorr is a Paradise/Garden of Eden setting, but it's so freaking lonely for her out there. Like, Bode... Your daughter was gonna go crazy from living in the middle of nowhere with no infrastructure.
If he goes out back into the galaxy and somehow doesn't make it back that little girl was gonna die alone on Tanalorr ..

25:00 I Love the fact that Bode shoot first in the final, (i can smell the memes from here) it shoes that cal was hesitant, but it also implies that there's no turning back ...
At this precise moment, in a more "classic" cinematic, we woold get a stand off where both characters speaks one more time about their motivations/obligations yadi yadi yada ...
What's Brilliant here is that Bode fire first, but his gun was damaged, and for 3 sec-ish they look at eachother, understanding the meaning of what just happened. This shows that no matter how much Cal would try to negociate with him, he won't change, it clarifies his attention, because even at this final stand off, Bode took his chance, he didn't hesitate like Cal, he pressed the trigger.
And then Cal, who didn't shoot because he was still unsure if he wanted to spare him or not, aknowledge that, he take a few sec to realize that if it wasnt for the previous interaction where he damaged his friend guns, he would have died on the spot. And now it's settled, he knows as a fact, that he can't trust him to surrender anymore, it's kill or be killed, so he press the trigger himself, and finish off his old friend.
Maybe I am over-Interpraiting here, I just like this scene, there is no words, but you can see their thoughts with this simple interaction, and I just find it amazing.

What I like most about this game is how many of the most important and emotional story moments have no dialogue. No lines, not a single word spoken. It's great, shows how much can be said without words.

I saw Bode’s betrayal coming from “I have a daughter,” but then the story made me doubt because he was such a great guy. I was always afraid it was coming, but as we got closer and closer to the betrayal, I dreaded it more and more. Heartbreaking. I was initially surprised that Kata wasn’t more angry at Cal and Merrin, but in retrospect, it seems as though she’d been mourning her father for a while before he actually died.
That's an interesting observation. She was probably "mourning her father" or didn't even feel he was the same person before he died. Maybe turning darkside changed more about him than his decision making. I sorta know how it feels to go through something, then the people around me don't act or believe the same. Even if they still loved me after, they felt like a stranger.

The fact the music plays the classic Force Theme at the ending really hits hard man. This is a fantastic Star Wars Game.
This is honestly the best Star Wars story we’ve gotten in a very long time. Ever since it came out, my favorite Star Wars has been Revenge of the Sith. I honestly think Star Wars Jedi: Survivor may have taken the crown. Holy shit, this story is fantastic!
Same. I know I'm late, but this made me look forward to the conclusion. As much as I wish he stayed in the light, I think this story is part one of a relatable but substantial story about suffering, falling into a dysfunctional life/behavior as a result, then coming back from it wiser and stronger than before. I felt so bad about what happened but every one has their periods of darkness.

It’s funny how people panicked that Bode was gonna be Cal’s love interest, only for him to be the villain and for the writer’s to double down on Cal+Merrin.
I didn't know people thought that lol I always assumed that Bode would become his best friend and die at the end to the final bad guy. Glad they doubled down on Cal and Merrin.

How does star wars deliver so well in these games, but so poorly elsewhere? An amazing finale, and a real tearjerker
The ending is so different to other games. The somber tones and story really make you feel the loss. The kid makes your heart ache even more

Same. I know I'm late, but this game made me anxious but hopeful for part three.
The last game was so uplifting, and I hoped this game would be similar by the end. I felt so bad for the Crew, especially Cal. Sense we didn't get to see the crew together a while longer, I felt robbed of something beautiful, as Cal was. Then the last half was series of gut punches. The fight against the Empire didn't *seem* to be going anywhere, loosing Cere, more jedi loosing their way, and Cal embracing his the dark side. It was depressing.
I keep telling myself that the next game will be more optimistic. That this is just part one of a relatable and substantial story about how to come back from a bad emotional state or lifestyle, and maybe it's what people need. We'll see

That montage shortened a whole day into a few moments, a blink takes 1/8 of a second. You're not gonna see him blink
I hope they do a third one. In this one I want them to explore cals backstory as he discovers who he is and finds out who his real family is as he explores his past. That would be amazing
I don't think so. Cal confronted his past in Kujet's Tomb on Dathomir. I think the next game should double down on Cal and Merrin while also exploring more of the Zeffo lore. However I doubt that'll happen
It's such a phenominal game, and it's been a priviledge to experience it, both alone and with you. The music was also incredible, Stephen Barton knocked it out of the park again
One of the reasons why Bode doesn’t surrender is because A. cal can’t 100% guarantee Kata’s safety, and Bode isn’t gambling with maybies. But what I think is more important is B. Cal just proved that you can get to Tanalorr without the compass. If Cal can do it, so can the empire. He can’t give the empire any reason to look for Tanalorr.

It was kind of dumb luck this went up without the commentary. We got to fully experience the game's climax. I'll happily re-watch it with your reactions. As you said this is proof a good cinematic Star Wars is possible. But out of everything my favorite thing had to be the camera lingering on Merrin's face after she asked Bode for blood.

My only complaint with the game is to me it felt like the story took awhile to get going and Dagan could have been more flushed out. But after Dagan’s death the story was a tsunami on constant emotion and really well done.
I think for the third game, cal should teach kata the ways of the force and train her to be a Jedi, making the game full circle with him being taught by both master tall and cere, and now teaching someone else, it would be cool for him to try to teach the old ways but not know how, the only problem is, if the cycle continued, Cal would die.

I could see that story line ending with Cal giving his life. Would make Fallen Order the Padawan stage, Survivor the Jedi knight stage, and the next game the Master stage as he trains Kata.

I say that betrayal coming from the start, I mean, really just random guy comes out of nowhere?? it follows the exact same plot as the last of the Jedi books. We are a spy tells the Empire we are at Jedi hideout is.

I think I finished this, literally one day before you. Timing. The ending is definitely very deep though, and put me through a whirlwind of emotions. This is probably the one game that I actually want to keep playing after the campaign. I want to keep playing this, and want to 100% it.
Bode’s death has stuck with me a bit. At first I just hated him for his betrayal, but now I see him as a broken man who gave in to fear and couldn’t bear to lose the only shred of happiness he had left.
This was such a beautiful and emotional ending to your "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor" story walkthrough, Andrew. I'm looking forward to see videos on all the collectibles and side quests you missed, specifically the Bounty Hunter side quest.
Gotta agree with Dagan Gera ending up not really feeling like a main antagonist haha.
I had Bode's betrayal slightly spoiled for me but was still a little surprised Dagan died so early. Then I realised Bode's impending betrayal hadn't happened yet and I just went "....Oh no."
He's a cool antagonist, I definitely like the fact that there was a bait and switch there though!
Fought him 3 times, he was awesome...
But he is from a different time, I don't know him, and if he's to provide the same level of emotional impact a villain like Bode did you'd need all 3 installments of the game to do so just to give him and Cal some history.

My guess is that Kata will be the protagonist of the third game, or Cal and Kata will share that role and both be playable.
before, when Bode killed Cordova I would have embraced the dark side for revenge, but now I am less and less certain, as I watched through, even when kata tried to stop him, and he was so dark, I still felt for him, this game has pulled me into it so much. I hope you love this game as much as me.
Along with Andor, this might be the best star wars content that has been released since Disney bought Lucasfilms. The first few hours were only alright, but everything that happened after Bode turned on Cal is top tier.
I personally hope (and this is a big ask) that the third game takes place after Return of the Jedi, to see the characters' reaction to the Empire being gone and Cal having to adapt to a galaxy without war. I also love the idea of having a God of War style story where Cal and Kata become a playable team. It would be great to have it closer to the sequel trilogy but Cal would be around 60 by then and I am not sure someone that age could keep up with all the parkour.

I think Kata will be Cal’s apprentice in the next game, she’ll probably be 15 or 16 by then. Maybe she’ll be a Jedi / Night Sister hybrid, learning from Merrin as well.
Hopefully this is like Skywalker Saga where he returns to the game often
I thought it would've been cool to see Kata learn about the Force from both a Jedi knight and a nightsister, but it would be significantly easier for Kata to become a Jedi. For her to become a nightsister, she would need to establish an incredibly strong connection with Dathomir and the ways the Force manifests there, which is easier for Dathomirians since they are tied to that place by blood and shared culture. Kata shares no familial relations with Dathomirians, and the only force user we know she's related to was a Jedi. Although Kata would most likely use the Force the way a Jedi would (whether she is trained at all remains to be seen), her philosophy on the Force and its uses could still take from both Cal's and Merrin's experiences, which I think is still an interesting avenue to explore.
I loved how much this reminded me of the force unleashed throughout the entire time
The 2nd half of the game really brings a giant rush of emotions, switching from happiness to sadness, and repeats. Cal and Merrin finally profess their love for one another, then Eno and Cere dies, as well as Bode betraying. The sight of Tanalorr brought a feeling of hope and joy, just to be ruined knowing Kata will have to go thru what Cal and Merrin have already. Then seeing Cere, Eno, and Bode being given a Jedi funeral really hit with the sadness. I'm glad that Merrin and Cal finally got together, they fit each other's personality very well.

The emotion I don't have the words 😰😥. It's like getting to be in a movie and impact the plot in some way. Nothing can compare, this is and always will be there best video game of all time, if anything is worth your money, mind, and time it's this.
Skillful Star Wars characters taking care of minors has already become a classic
These games are just so deep and heartfelt. Emotional, gritty, and dark, the emotions in this game feel so real. The best Star Wars content since Andor, Rogue One, and Bad Batch. Andrew, can't wait for a deep breakdown of the story and theories for the future.

Jedi survivor has been amazing experience of my gaming life from beginning to end this game has touched me in ways that no other game has in quite some time after beating the game you dont want it to end you just want the story to keep on going that is the feeling I got from this game
This game reminded me of the first time I watched Star wars as a kid. Don't get me wrong I don't think it's as good as the first trilogy but it kept my intention and I genuinely cared for everyone in the game. Even the toad with long legs lol

I really loved the story game but I liked Dagan Gera character and was hoping for some more development from him, apart from that everything was pretty cool
The double bladed lightsaber stance is best for crowd control maybe using dual blade isn’t the best choice sometimes
I wanted this game to have a "happy ending" where Bode doesn't betray everyone and they all successfully make it to Tanalorr. However, I knew something had to go wrong at some point because of how the original trilogy plays out. If they had succeeded, then this game would not be canon.
That said, I would love to see an alternate version of the story where the Empire doesn't attack the archive. The entire crew of the Mantis including Bode along with every member of the Hidden Path including Cere and Cordova make it to Tanalorr with the contents of the archive intact. They would rebuild the Jedi tradition/culture, order, and council. Mabey they would contact other Jedi like Obi-wan, Yoda, etc. and they would join them in its reconstruction. After the Jedi order is rebuilt, they would go to war with the Empire which would be hopeless to stop the Jedi since they have no way to reach Tanalorr without the compass. To ensure that the Empire couldn't get through the Abyss, they would destroy the array on Koboh and the Shattered Moon. They would replicate the compass so they could send multiple groups through the nebula at once but they would keep at least one at Tanalorr so they could recover lost groups or compasses.
If anyone is interested in making something like this, feel free to use any of the ideas here.
The fight at the array control tower on grandmaster was so brutal
A 78 in total deaths, but man, was this a thrilling story. Also, I think it's ironic that dark side makes things easier for you, but the light side is the challenge, though in the end, who truly lost

night sister magic is simply dark side powers. anyone proficient with the force can use them but it takes lots of training as it can corrupt you.
I also love how the high republic stuff was introduced to a broader audience

Quick Tip when you hold R1 down and then X for PlayStation OR A for Xbox it slams them to the floor this is especially good for the flame trooper’s because it makes them explode and The AOE is pretty good and does pretty good damage 👍

but man allthough the story was a bit dry at the begining the last few hours was something else you can really tell how much effort and money they put into the story and gameplay its so amazing the character growth was so good and it was way more difrent from the first game where there wasnt really anything sad in the story other than order 66 but man this is just such a great game and it really was such a great experience and personally i think that this is some of the ebst star wars we got since disney took over

Lol, all I had to do about that was embrace the dark side.
The gameplay was great and a good evolution from the first game taking on a more combative reflection of Cals inner turmoil. However for the next game I think it should take a new evolutionary step into the realm of mastery, snappier response, quicker moves, less interruption, more along the line of GOW or Ghost of fushima, to show cals growth as a jedi master.

To be honest, I've watched Andrew for a few years now, but i stopped watching for a while because i felt the lego star wars content was dry and over exhausted , and i know some people enjoy that, but jedi survivor really brought me back to this amazing channel! Great Job Andrew!
Thank you for taking us on this journey with you. As someone who doesn't own a next gen console yet, it was great to experience the game through your videos. I was so so afraid at the end that Cal would go completely to the dark side of the force, and either Merrin or Kata would die. But like you said, the ending is tragic, and I cant wait to see how it progresses from here.
