Any excitement for this game was nuked from orbit when the trailer ends with "Exclusive to the Meta Quest 3"

Meta is paying for it. They're making hella money from it and stepping into the proper next generation of gaming. VR will go mainstream very soon. Even Quest 2 managed to outsell Xbox and with all the AAA games in development now it won't take long for Quest to near Playstation in sales

CG trailers in general don’t make sense. Hey here’s this really cool looking cinematic that won’t be in the game. There’s no reason to get excited.
any VR game trailer on a 2D screen won't make sense CGI or not CGI, you have to actually get VR to get this.
I'm guessing they're doing this, because they're hoping CGI trailers will convey it better than gameplay video on a 2D flat screen, it's just not the same in VR.

Wow, a new game from my favorite iteration of Batman! I can't wait to see what wacky adventures we'll see him get up to in his future! Maybe we'll even see him and the Justice League team up!
What's the point in showing this? At least some gameplay has to be shown.

Wish the quest exclusives had a way to download and run them on PC, but you have to use the quest headset.
Just native quest 3 games resolution is too low lately. The tweaker app helps some. But take asgards wrath 3, blurry. Same goes with dr beefs doom 3 port. But! Doom 3 bfg at 130% resolution scale is mind-blowing
They are all not Quest 3 games. If you want to play a Quest 3 game then play Red Matter 2. They have a proper Graphics Update for Quest 3. You're mentioning games that aren't properly optimized for Quest 3. They're Quest 2 games. Quest 3 has some serious power behind it and with the right AAA developers you can make games look great. You will realize that once you play Red Matter 2

Wish it didn't rely on the Arkham series name. It's not being made by Rocksteady. It's being made by Camouflaj, which did Iron Man VR in 2020. Can't really tell gameplay type yet since it's a cinematic teaser, so I won't make any expectations or any hype until I see what the game actually is. But I hope it's more of a game than the original Rocksteady developed Batman: Arkham VR.
Camouflaj was acquired by Meta in Summer of 2022. Assuming they got straight to work at that moment, that's only a little over 2 years of dev time. I'm going to go on a limb and say it'll either be low-scale or delayed. Either way I have hope that it'll be fun.
Iron Man VR not only has a decent story, you can also customize the suit, equip it with auxiliary weapons, different types of repulsors and some special abilities like make your punches do more damage, make your boosts last longer or make your Unibeam charge faster. There's also a few boss fights.
It's definitely not a tech demo, at least not at the time it's out.
That's why there's a high chance of Batman Arkham Shadow being good considering we now have a 100+ hour Skyrim-like VR game in a mobile chipset.

Meta Quest 3 has some serious power behind it (Mimimum Requirement PCVR level) and AAA developers making games for it and exclusively for it will get VR VERY far. This is a MASSIVE step into getting VR to go Mainstream. This is great. PCVR isn't going anywhere

I'd love to live in that world but trust me We are now finally at a point where standalone devices can finally run proper games with proper visuals. It may be worse than what we would get from PCVR but it's not disgusting anymore. It should about the difference of Low vs Max graphics on PCVR. This will help the growth of VR massively.

@@epoch151 I don't know what kind of phones you have been using but I haven't seen any that I strap to my head personally. Quest 3 has the power to Rival a Minimum Spec PCVR setup. You non- developers don't know or understand that. If this was Quest 2 I would agree but it isn't. This is Quest 3 and that has some serious power behind it.

As a VR fan, I'm excited. But I can see why people would be pissed at this announcement after so many years and Suicide Squad.

Meta is funding the game. You should've just gotten a Quest 3 or wait for the cheaper Quest Lite. If you wanted to play great AAA games then buying the PSVR2 was not the right decision
@ConsumingTheChess A standalone headset without DFR vs a Headset powered by a console to play a AAA Batman game. I think I know which I'd rather play this on. This won't even be half of the game it could have been.
@@DissTrackTed Quest does have foveated rendering and has some serious power behind it for being a standalone device. It is about equivalent to a PCVR minimum Spec computer. It isn't comparable to PS5 but that's not what I was saying. It however will not at all be a smaller or worse game than it would've been on PSVR because of that. It's far more like a Game on Very Low VS Max settings. It would obviously be the better graphical experience on PSVR2 but that isn't feasible for Mainstream adoption whatsoever. This is the far better overall choice for VR as whole.

@@kwayneboy1524 no. It’ll likely be a 7-15 hour game. Depending on how open the game is. VR has plenty of games that stretch to the 30 hour + mark now including another first party meta studio game that pushes 80+ hours with a Asgards Wrath II.
I hope it isn’t that long. I’m hoping for about 15-20 like Assassins Creed Nexus length.

New Arkham Game: Pretty cool, not sure it can live up to lofty expectations but it's exciting.
It's in VR: Not the first time they've done this so it can work. It will definitely make this a niche game though.
It's only on Quest: This sucks. It limits the audience even more and means it'll probably be overpriced.

I'm buying a stand alone VR headset this year.
Suggestions welcome.
I've been out of the loop for a while. Future proof and compatibility with Steam is top priority. (got a 4080 laptop so no need for on board power)
If you want a great headset and want to be able to keep it for relatively long you should definitely get a Quest 3 (consider getting a better Headstrap for it as well as it may be uncomfortable at first). If you want a cheaper alternative you should wait and get a Quest Lite. It should be released sometime this year. It won't be as future proof however as it's made to be cheaper.
I get that you want to play it safe after KTJL, but do i seriously need to sell my soul to get DC to make a game about someone who isn't Batman or Batman adjacent?
