does even the normal protection work against this ringworm? normal ringworm could be transmitted by skin contact alone.
Same with this strain of the fungus. It can be transmitted casually. Just so happened a gay dude got it on his penis too, after traveling and having sex with other men in several other countries so the news includes those salient facts.

It's highly contagious just like regular ringworm (a fungal infection), but this strain is resistant to treatment and wasn't seen in the US before 2023. It's common in India.
