    these Melinda episodes have been SO insightful into what it really looks like to grow in a design business, being able to listen in on your conversations about Melindas struggles and growth is helpful to me and I'm not anywhere near where I want to be but I'm making moves and this really helped!

      Maybe people are looking for substance and not easy answers. When something this long turns into a sales pitch, people might feel manipulated. There's a lot of talking, little substance.

      @@BAwesomeDesign lol a sale pitch? I must have missed something... You have two people that make enough money that don't to share their expertise for free, spending their time to help educate and some how theirs not enough substance or not enough that someone would give the content a thumbs down?

    Im speaking for myself here but I don't think its reciprocity why people purchase your products... We have learned so much from you guys to the point where you have established yourself as the expert through sharing all this information with us. So when we purchase a product from you, we already have the expectation of learning so much more and now that were paying for it, the information will be even better and more focused. Not only that but you have already shown proof of concept through the type of business your already doing so we know we are learning the correct way to do it to get those kind of results. Love this channel!

    Chris was spot on in discerning that there is a distinction between the designer and strategist and that by interchanging the two terms confuses the clarity of each solution.

    "sprinkle lessons throughout the timeline" On page 149 of “Creative Strategy and the Business of Design” Douglas Davis says “Target Audiences are becoming more dynamic everyday.”
    On page 150 he talks about listing the barriers to buy in the brief. The four examples he uses are: Aren’t aware, Don’t understand, Don’t believe, Don’t think the brand is for them.
    That’s actually enough to use for most projects. Melinda’s comment about going back into her own user journey gave me the idea that we should map onto the user journey those 4 objections listed above from page 150.
    Print out the map and post on our wall so we are reminded of our barriers and solutions.
    So let’s call it “The User Journey Objection Map” or just the “Objection/Solution Map”.
    Aaron Fletcher probably already has a framework for this. He’s vying to be the Framework King! If the insights from the Davis book can’t be translated into a framework then it’s not actionable or memorable in my view.

    I love these videos! A lot of time was spent here clarifying what offers, but I don't remember a lot on the outreach part of finding customers (I watched in small bits, so maybe I missed it). Would love to see a video that breaks down how you put teach to the funnel. You probably do this with your course, but maybe a taste would help us viewers and also move people a notch on your funnel towards buying that course.

I am currently struggling with how to start a graphic design business from home in terms of finding my niche, finding clients/ how to market correctly and just overall how to even start. I can relate with Melinda in that I get overwhelmed easily. I just recently found your channel and was wondering do you offer to consult ppl like me that need help getting themselves off the ground so to speak? If so what is the package/ pricing like? Thanks!!!

    I think Chris had a unspoken lesson in this one. If you want to make a product for a less trained “you” then we need to also make ourselves a Persona of what we looked like 5-10 years earlier to keep reminding ourselves that we are not selling to how we feel now but also remember when we didn’t know.

    Hi Chris! When you are talking about how funnels work, there's something you said that got me a bit confused: "every time you ask people to do something else you lose a % of them". I know that funnels are incredibly useful tools, and I know they work, but maybe is because I still don't completely understand the idea behind them, when I hear you say that, I think: "Well, then why ask them to do those extra steps? Why add all those extra steps that make you lose people instead of trying to convert them into sales earlier on the process?"

    • @thefutur
      @thefutur  5 лет назад +1

      When I ask you to watch a video, some of you will. you experience drop off. Then in that video, I ask you to hit like and subscribe. fewer do. that's the drop off. but complex, high ticket sales can't be had in one go. this is why it's important to have a large top of the funnel awareness.

    when you are sitting with your clients in the discovery phase, and you've identified the brand attributes, figured out their user, etc, i still don't understand how you make the connections between the direction your sales funnel should go? like how you know what to do with that information? I guess i''m really asking for myself. I'm trying to come up with my own brand strategy and i know my voice, and my ideal user but i don't know the direction to take or how to make my website reflect it without being all over the place and not disconnected. also melinda, how has twitter ended up for you? and pinterest?
