Especially with traction alopecia, because it's not genetic hair loss, it's hair lost from being pulled out. For these patients, the regrown self-confidence and improved self-image was worth the wait.

We advise our female patients to wear a silk or smooth head band or scarf. Please avoid any wool or cotton material.

The cost of each patient's procedure varies upon a few different things: model consents, FUT vs. FUE, use of injectable treatments, graft count, etc. A consultation would provide you with the most accurate quote for a hair transplant procedure. But, in short, hair transplant procedures are costly. This is why McGrath Medical chooses to educate and persuade our patients to first try low-cost medication which may stop and even reverse their hair loss without surgery.

How does one wear their hair after a procedure like this ?
Our patient wore her hair down for the video, but she was also able to pick it up and style it in many different ways. She explained that she tries not to braid it to avoid causing any further traction to the areas she had surgery on, but she definitely is more confident sporting her hair in both up and down fashions.

Why did she have stitches in the back of her head?
A patient who has an FUT (or strip procedure) will have a thin scar on the back of their head, as that is where the donor tissue sample was extracted from.
How much does this procedure cost?
This procedure is approximately $12,500. It may be a little less or more, depending on certain factors which would be covered in the consultation.

The standard pricing of grafts at McGrath Medical is currently: $5 for FUT - $6 for FUE. Each patient's cost will vary depending on graft count, model discounts, etc. The best way to get a correct estimate would be to speak with our inhouse hair consultant, who will give you a much clearer idea as to what would be your price.
Not necessarily; however, the first thing to remember is that hair transplant surgery is a cosmetic procedure and it is not inexpensive. Our team works with every patient suffering from hair loss, and usually start them on much lower-cost, non-surgical procedures before jumping into a hair transplant, sometimes up to a year before scheduling a hair transplant. There are also discounts that can be applied to a patient's case which helps lower cost as well.

It is not our common practice to move 6,000 grafts in one procedure. Dr. McGrath's belief is to for patients to take their time and prep their donor area to become the best candidate for a transplant, if they would ever need it at that point by using non-surgical means first. Generally speaking, hair transplant procedures can cost around $10,000 - sometimes more, sometimes less. It is an outpatient procedure, no overnight stay in a hospital. You'll be able to go home or back to your hotel the same day after the procedure.

Do you relax your hair after surgery
Many of our female patients who suffered from traction alopecia don't usually put their hair in tight braids after having surgery done; however, it can be done.

We advise waiting at least 10 days before wearing any hair wigs over the surgical area.
