There's always been an interest in SBR's and SBS's mostly for their being compact and concealable and easily transported without people knowing you're carrying a firearm. The M1 Carbine was the compact "survivalist" gun for 50 years with pistol and folding stock versions. The Mini-14 with the folding stock in my profile pic was another popular choice for those people. There are a lot more "survivalist" people today than there ever have been and an AK/AR pistol and half a dozen mags makes for a great bug out/ truck gun. Even better when equipped with a brace. Because an H&K MP5 is too expensive. So build the AR 9mm variant. AR15 but in 9mm or 40 caliber. Any ar15 upper will work you just need the ar9mm lower receiver and the bolt carrier group and the barrel. The trigger group is the same.
Years ago, my uncle's best buddy (whom he would shoot with) had an OA-96 and let me shoot it. He bought it used, and I know that it must have been right around the time the OA-98 was released. See, this guy fit just about every stereotype of a hardcore handloader that you could fit into the book: he'd ask me for my spent brass if it was Boxer-primed, a chrono was part of his range bag, he'd have these little labels made from masking tape on his loads indicating what was what, etc., etc. Anyway, he tended to load slightly hot; not crazy, but a little on the hot side. I remember he picked up an OA-98, looked at the skeletonization, and told me he'd be stunned if it DIDN'T fail. So he wound up buying one of these, JB Weld and all. In perfect fairness, the OA-96 was accurate (in terms of the 20 rounds I put through it; I asked to go through the reloading procedure after firing my initial ten and he did say "sure"), but that was really the best you could say for it. I think anyone who has ever fired one of these or handled one of these (or an OA-93 or OA-98) will probably understand, but there was a certain "fiddlyness" to the charging handle where it was not at all smooth, it had this Rube Goldberg/cobbled together feel to it, and ironically, if you wanted to fire it off a sandbag (something my uncle's buddy loved then and to my knowledge still to this day loves doing), well, you needed to stack four or five sandbags because of the 30-round mag body. And it was that last point that really killed the fun of it for my uncle's buddy. One of the things I know he wanted to do (but never did...he wound up selling it and doing a pistol build on a DPMS receiver) was, after the AWB sunsetted, to try and see if he could get the mag out because it made more sense to run it with a 20-round mag off one large sandbag. Well, surprise surprise, all that effort to make the OA-96 ban-compliant made it impossible to remove the mag body and he just got rid of it. But firing it at fifty yards--especially with his precious handloads off 4-5 sandbags stacked one on top of another--is something I will not soon forget, even though we are talking all the way back in 2002.
Willem Defoe had one in Clear and Present Danger... I remember those being sold at a a California Firearms business called B&B Sales in Westminster Ca for around $500.00.. But, it didn't have a fixed magazine.
There's an experimental model of one of these for sale in the UK. Normally handguns and centre fire rifles are banned here, but there's an area of the law that allows you to own handguns for the base of collecting (such as military trials pistols or ones with value like that) so i may be able to buy it in the UK. will be great if i can

If I lived in the US I’d love to start a collection of weird AWB rifles and pistols. Their awfulness fascinates me and it would serve as a nice reminder like a ‘lest we forget’
Ah... JB-Weld... now I want to make an AR pistol of my own! But I'm not so hot on the permanent mag though... The good thing is that you will never forget to bring mags!
The LAR-15 up here in Canada also gives us Canadians a loophole. The magazine used in it is considered a pistol mag despite being compatible with any AR-15; it bypasses the restriction we have on rifle magazines having a 5 round capacity.
A loophole in the AWB? Say it ain't so! seriously, though, that thing's got more holes in it than a sieve. At least this gun doesn't look as ridiculous as every other AR pistol does.
I've seen this gun in Tom Clancy's film, 'Clear and Present Danger' from 1994. The gun that the Clark (William Defoe) used, if I'm not mistaken. At first I thought this weapon was only a modification of the M4 because it looks similar.
Great review! I wish you added some clips of shooting. With your knowledge and some shooting content, your channel would be unmatched! Thumbs up this guy everyone!
Big question: With the assault weapon ban having sunsetted, could you get one of these and legally punch the magazine out and drill a mag catch/release into the lower? I know it would probably be more work than it's worth, but I happen to live in Washington state and I've seen quite a few of these around. My father even lives in Olympia and I've considered applying for a job at OA.
There are plenty of AR 15s with folding stocks, just a part with a hinge and a piece that holds the bolt carrier inside when it's folded. Big disadvantage however compared to this is that you can't shoot when it's folded. I don't know if it would not fire, or just launch the BCG back in your face.
“For the safety of you and the safety of others.” And then someone tries to shoot me in the back and 2012 is supposed to be the end of the world. Just remember your purpose, remember who really is supposed to be corrected by jail, and accept this victory you are capable of.
I had to stop at the JB weld. That was just comedy gold. The tactical advantage of it suddenly became almost null compared to just a handgun you can reload repeatedly and it's like they were in court and they said no and someone just had some glue and was like "hand me the thing, HOW ABOUT NOW!?"
My dad has an Olympic arms ar-15 pistol that is registered but it’s newer. Maybe bought 10 years ago. It does have a detachable mags though. Did something change
Weird how they changed their lower receiver to have no mag-release button, yet there's still the raised fence that guards the mag-release button from being accidentally pressed.
For years I wanted to know about a specific movie gun and stumbled about the imfdb... In the Lethal Weapon 4 intro is that crazy armoured guy with the flame thrower and a full auto OA-93. It got a buffer tube so it would cycle with blanks.

Almost though this was a reupload.
Me too, of that bizzaro lightweight "carbon 16" thing
That's a fun looking gun and what a collection piece
Do you know that Olympic Arms also makes the first 9 mm AR-15 because it predates the Colt 9 mm SMG, according to Tim from MAC :)
Found your channel thru Bizarre Bazaar of Bootleg gunz group, I really like your tone of speaking & presentation man! ill definitely be purveying your vids at work! very very interesting stuff
I've lived in Olympia my entire life and I *never* would have guessed there's a firearms manufacturer here.
They'd announced they were going out of business in January 2017, but as of March 2018, are still apparently working through new ownership and possibly still doing business locally.
I'd stopped in there on a couple different occasions over years past.
Wake up and smell the gun oil. Sadly they are a shell of their former self.
@@allenentsminger4181 Sad, all the actual awesome companies and inventors are not praised till they are dead :(
If I lived in the US I’d love to start a collection of weird AWB rifles and pistols. Their awfulness fascinates me and it would serve as a nice reminder like a ‘lest we forget’
Ah... JB-Weld... now I want to make an AR pistol of my own! But I'm not so hot on the permanent mag though...
The good thing is that you will never forget to bring mags!
Assault Weapons ban expired, you can build an ar15 pistol with a detachable mag as long as it doesn’t violate your state laws.
You won't even want to bring mags. You'll be fine with mag. :(
tommydeadwood: What if I'm not in a state?
The LAR-15 up here in Canada also gives us Canadians a loophole. The magazine used in it is considered a pistol mag despite being compatible with any AR-15; it bypasses the restriction we have on rifle magazines having a 5 round capacity.
This looks like something Shadow the Hedgehog would use
That is spot on
Thanks for the info on SBRs and SBSs
"Magazine can't be removed" starts putting Jb weld on drum mag...jk lol
Once again the master of Forgotten weapons blows my mind
Another chibi AR-15.
"Olympic didn't want to just FOLD UP and go away"
Wah wah wah
Yeah I was like “ how do you reload it? “ then he flipped the damn thing open and I was like “ oh shit!”
I've got the same fore grip on my AR as this thing only it is a longer version that goes on a rifle, they balance the rifle really nicely.
Mk.1 Bolt Pistol.
I was thinking an early prototype.
Kinda does look like a bolter really XD. Just figure out how to combine it with one of those 50s/60s gyro rocket pistols and there ya go.

A loophole in the AWB? Say it ain't so! seriously, though, that thing's got more holes in it than a sieve. At least this gun doesn't look as ridiculous as every other AR pistol does.
This man will show off some of the coolest guns I’ve ever seen but he will not once let off a round
Someone should have introduced some law makers to a 32 pounder. As the founding fathers intended.
I've seen this gun in Tom Clancy's film, 'Clear and Present Danger' from 1994. The gun that the Clark (William Defoe) used, if I'm not mistaken. At first I thought this weapon was only a modification of the M4 because it looks similar.
They should make a Barrett .50 pistol conversion
I want one! 😭 beautiful piece of work.
All I imagine is some guy pulling out a lasersighted acog extended mag out of his pocket
Great review! I wish you added some clips of shooting. With your knowledge and some shooting content, your channel would be unmatched! Thumbs up this guy everyone!
California: Ight bois we're banning assault pistols so cough em up
Olympic: Who gone tell em
Big question:
With the assault weapon ban having sunsetted, could you get one of these and legally punch the magazine out and drill a mag catch/release into the lower?
I know it would probably be more work than it's worth, but I happen to live in Washington state and I've seen quite a few of these around. My father even lives in Olympia and I've considered applying for a job at OA.
Yes you could, there is nothing stopping you
This gun screams, " INFRINGEMENT"
Praise be to Gun Jesus, for he has praised us with more Olympic Arms!
My dad has an Olympic arms ar-15 pistol that is registered but it’s newer. Maybe bought 10 years ago. It does have a detachable mags though. Did something change
3:32 next time warn me with a heads up, I was eating and almost threw up.
Looks like I found the inspiration for the Ruger Mark 4 take down! Very interesting! I would love to own that beauty! Great video! Thanks!
This is stupid clever.
Weird how they changed their lower receiver to have no mag-release button, yet there's still the raised fence that guards the mag-release button from being accidentally pressed.
That hurts to look at...
For years I wanted to know about a specific movie gun and stumbled about the imfdb...
In the Lethal Weapon 4 intro is that crazy armoured guy with the flame thrower and a full auto OA-93.
It got a buffer tube so it would cycle with blanks.
When he talked about reducing the weight I just started laughing oml.
This is one of the most unique guns I have ever seen
Ian should do a video on the Southern Gun Company's Lever Release ARs, because they are another engineering solution to a political problem (in this case, the complete ban on civilian centerfire semi-auto rifles in the UK).
any idea if you can loophole centerfire by making the site of impact a few mm off of center or...?
@@pupinator98 No, you can't. It's typically described as "centerfire semi-auto" that is banned, but actually it's not; it's _all_ semi-autos _except_ for .22LR (other rimfires are _not_ exempt).
