Told my band mates this time and time again and they keep buying crap. I have XLR cables and guitar cables that I've had since the 80s and there still going strong. Don't waste your money on junk! Rob
A little food for though about ear buds. As you said inexpensive buds are so for a reason. Good buds cost for a reason. Here in my area we have a local audiologist who is also a musician and she is a big believer in working with a hearing professional to get the right buds for each individual. She believes the correct buds and correct processing before the transmitter can protect a prefomers hearing but poor quality equipment can cause more harm qucker than preforming in front of excessively loud weges.
Thanks for sharing some of the horror stories (so I don't have to experience it!)
Learned this the hard way. Found you can still get the Mid level stuff without going to the poor house and have it last.
Signed,
Boo
SOLID WISDOM
That is subjective in many ways. As a musician in the third world we have to be thrifty. The cloned equipment may just be the difference to being profitable. Lets be honest. When a band gets on average of $500.00 usd for a 5 member group buyimg expensive gear just does not bode well for profitability. There some brands that gives the same value in respect to performance without the huge price tag.
While I hear you side of the conversation in terms of turning a profit. I have yet to see one price of cloned/copied gear that offer the same quality for a cheaper price. They offer cheap quality for a cheap price. Period! If that works for your clients then rock on my friend, I’m not mad at you. Do what you must to survive.
@@thegrumpysoundguy got some chinese speakers that has given good service for the last 7 years or so at a fraction of the cost of brand named speakers. I guess it comes down to how cared for. To think I have not had to replace speakers or horns in that period of time, with high traffic . The exception being the covid era.
Keyboards are another area of concern. Most of these boards break down within a year. I am speaking Yamaha, Korg etc. They are just not road worthy. I am from the Caribbean and the sea blast does havoc on electronics. Still those speakers have lasted 7+ years. I do not even think the brand is sold for use in America. Therefore I see the matter as a subjective one. Still I love your content and in many ways i see similarity in your circumstances in other issues in spite of our geological locations.
