YES! I have been searching for one of these, can't believe it's taken this long for somebody to come up with one.... Couplers exist for Female connections, but none like this. My use is going to be slightly different, mine is for using with a VHS player, but still this is good. I thought I was going to have to make one myself
HOW were these things not a thing yet? I desperately need a coupler like this, CMG doesn't stock these yet and the shipping to Europe is more than for the little item...
it is all open source, you can have the pcb custom printed from services like oshpark, the scart connectors are available for people who roll their own cables, and laserbear makes their print files available for download, so you can have them printed by shapeways or equivalent if you don't own or have access to a printer. I went that route even though I live in the US because castlemania wasn't expecting to ship orders till january and I can get one faster (and a couple spares for not that much more cost) that way.
I guess this is to keep the run of the analog signal as short as possible, cool. it would be neat to maybe get a revision of a 3d print to make side clasps that would marry to a standard like a gscart. Then I thought it would be sweet to have version of the gscart that has an ossc built into it.... Make it happen boys
I'm just getting it because I have a PVM-14n6u that does RGB only, so I'll be using it for my female BNC to SCART breakout so I can plug it to my retrotink Comp2RGB to get component video out of my RGB only PVM I know there's a Male BNC to SCART breakout cable but it would costed a bit of t he same so I personally prefer the conveniente way.
Wow, great idea TBH! I want one. However, no money since analogue nt mini noir tax customs ate all my christmas money. maybe I can pre-order end of december!
So I'm looking for a product to output HDMI signal from a modern computer to a consumer TV with SCART sadly the only adapters I'm able to find are composite and not RGB. Understandably this is the reverse use case of many people :P but i figured this would be the place to ask for such a thing
This is called "downscaling". The two best devices for this today are the GBS-Control and the RetroTINK 5x: ruclips.net/video/fmfR0XI5czI/видео.html ruclips.net/video/nwNrqIjxBaA/видео.html
Hey mate, Just wondered on an update vid on latest news for hooking up SNES to HDMI or HDTV? I know its prob been done to death but anything new out there we should know about or could be worthwhile now moving into 2021? Or nothing as yet? My optimal solution IMO to this is actually for an (tho expensive) Analogue Super NT when they are open for pre-order.
Same as usual: SNES via RGB or HD Retrovision cable to either the OSSC or RetroTINK products. The RAD2x is good as well, but I'm not sure if they're in stock.
@@RetroRGB Yep cool. So i think i have it figured now. I'll go RetroTINK 2x (rca to hdmi conversion - also does N64, NES) for my PAL snes. It's up on Amazon and not too expensive. Ill grab a HD Retrovision cable (snes multi out to hdmi) and i should be set. (I could buy more and setup my N64 too ... ) Now, the OSSC option looks alot better a setup for ALL my consoles (snes, 64, GC, wii etc depending on what im playing, one device only, too costly otherwise) and RGB scart too! .. so conceivably its a snes multiout to RGB, then HDMI to TV, I think would be great and better quality? But not available and looks expensive atm.
1:22 why is there a ground pad if you can basically jump them with 1 wire(by running it straight across)? And from what I've noticed myself is that it's pretty easy to solder to the ground with flux and the right iron tip(I used a BC3), did this with several scart cables I made myself and haven't got any cold joints with it
@RetroRGB another great video, thanks. Any idea if this is tall enough for a gscartsw + the "AV Component to Scart Passthrough Adapter + Audio" adapter that RetroFixes were doing a few years ago (...and as an aside, do you know any place currently still selling these SCART/component adapters)?
You can order the pcb from oshpark or similar, then you just need to order a couple male scart connectors, discard the hoods and solder it together. The case can be 3d printed, Laserbear sells them and makes the print files publicly available, and everything is linked in the description (besides the scart connectors)
If only our hobby moved to DSub and away from SHART we could use any of the countless "VGA" couplers out there. And avoid tons of other SCART-related headaches along the way.

I love the RGB and retro community. Such awesome work you guys
I reeeeally like the idea of this. Also, old intro back? The new one was cool but I loved the old one
This video was made before I started the new intro :) I just wanted to wait to post it until pre-orders were open.
Been waiting for you to talk about this. Saw it on a video of yours but could not find it. Just ordered!!!
I've been looking for something like this for my ultimate scart adapter! Perfect timing !!
best intro song in all of the tubes
Thank you for all your contributions to the community!

Fantastic idea. Could add a larger base to the 3d print to try and stabilise the coupler
This would've been exactly what I needed about 2 weeks ago lol I'll probably still end up getting one to clear some cable clutter
Love your channel, keep up the great work.
fantastic! I've been excited about these
That Voultar sticker ...
Yeah he sucks😀
I need like 3 of these. Nice!
I like my stuff flat on the shelf😀but every option and contribution is great!

Was about to order one then came the shipping\custom charges to the UK. Hopefully we get some suppliers in the EU soon

I’m going to make some soon, you’re not EU anymore though, but we’ll probably figure something out if you want one

Thats nice! I would like to use it ... but I have cats ... and they jump on and against everything. Maybe someday I can use this too ^^

Nice
I see Bob likes Bad Snacks. ;D
Neat little thingy! I'm happy with my 0,5m high quality SCART cable though :-)

It's just there if you need it. 99.9% of setups don't.
fair

Totally a newbie question, but are those bi-directional?
Yup!
Could one make a female-to-female coupler with this board and case as well?
Can you still control the ossc with the remote with this if it's in a cabinet
Is there a preferred male connector that is recommended? I'd rather not grab an Aliexpress special.
A 90 degree would be awesome
I'd be really sad to put that 3D printed case over that RetroRGB board. Is there an acrylic case in the future?
Was wondering if this coupler would be able to bridge something like a VGA2SCART to a RGB2COMP?
That should work fine.
What's the screw size for the 3D printed case?
Exactly what I want to know, can’t find it anywhere.
In the end I went with m2.5x12mm tapping screws and they fit snuggly.
Great content as usual! Do you know if this is a nice acquisition - scart switcher directly to RCA ? (from aliexpress)

Where do I get one of those soldering exhaust fans. 🤣😂
LOL, a friend made that for me as a joke.

Any chance you have a link for that start switch?

Is there a European distributor on the horizon? How about the usual suspect Videogameperfection? :)
It's open source, so yeah I think Matt will probably carry them too.
