This is good news, I've had one of these light guns for years, but I've never actually been able to get it to work due to how complicated the instructions are. I already have a mister, so hopefully the install will work without a lot of messing around. EDIT: It does look to be working.
I'm so appreciative that the hard work was done to make the Sinden compatible with the MiSTer. Both of these projects just keep getting better! Thank you!
Nice setup. FPGA does everything, even set the speed of the core to exact frequency as was a actual chip. Everything can be pixel perfect with flawless sound because you can write code to even replicate the processor, graphics chip and sound chip !
Yeah mine has been sitting on the shelf for years cause they were terrible to use and keep accurate. I assumed he just sort of took off like a lot of crowd funding campaigns since there were no new developments . Maybe I will get some use out of them yet.
Hi thanks for the video , is just not a natter of running “update all” option directly on the mister , for this then to be added to the cores list ? Or is this too new , in beta stage for now
Does this work on a modern DLP projector, or are they too flickery? And does screen size start to become a real issue if I can't keep all of the border visible? Edit: per FAQ, seems the answers are, yes to lamp projectors, and stay 1.5x game width back 👍
I feel like a more modern implementation of Sinden would probably have a 4K 120fps capable camera, the processing would be inside the gun rather than off loaded. The display detection would also work like AR/VR were you would just define the TV location in 3D space and not require a white border. Master System has a lot more gun games than NES, SMD, SNES combined.
@@Reprogrammed_By_SEGA bullshit. often even highend phones can't do 4k 120fps, then what can process 4k 120 as AR? what hw???? a highend sbc, costing hundreds, especially in such low quantities sinden would buy.... then power requirements.... attach a 5V 3A brick on top of the standard usb.... would be very convinient :D or maybe even add wireless module and battery pack, right? :D you have no idea....
I think the issue there is you're moving the processing of 4K120 video into the gun, that combined with the increase in camera res and framerate could cause heat issues as many 4K cameras overheat at 60FPS after an hour, making it less suitable for gaming, or making it much heavier due to heatsinks etc. There's the potential for the processing to take longer as well which could add lag. This also comes with a cost increase and given the Sinden is a niche product they aren't going to get the same economies of scale that mass market stuff, even VR headsets are likely less niche than this. The Sinden gun works great for me, while inside-out tracking like you suggest would be nice, I'm not sure I'd pay more for it - I certainly wouldn't replace my current Sindens. Using an existing inside-out headset (on a stand, not your head) with tracked controller to define the TV and controller in 3D space could be a cool additional use for a VR headset though.
Yeah, my Sindens are nowhere near that accurate. The problem is you have to be so far away from your screen for these to work. I have mine in an old House of the Dead cabinet and its just not accurate unless I am 15 feet away.
I’ve been waiting for MiSTer support for a while now. Can’t wait to try it out. Does recoil currently work? If not, are there plans to include it in the future?
So excited to finally have Sinden on MiSTer but there's a problem. Not sure if it's due to the custom MiSTer file but my Asus Bluetooth adapter is not recognized so my BT gamepad doesn't work. It works correctly using the official release.
Hi Andy, would MiSTer CRT filters work with Sinden cores at the same time? So the CRT shaders dont cover the Sinden white border? How about using MiSTer Sinden cores with CRT filters aplied on RetroTink 4K via MiSTer HDMI output? I simply can't play raw pixel output.
i've a Tink 4K and with auto crop DV1 the white border disappears and it's not working. With BFI neither. Will try CRT filters later. In my first trys the overall experince is medicore: crosshair dissapeears, moves very shaky and so on. But i'm still trying to finde the best configuration.
How well do these work with arcade machine emulators? I really would love to be able to play the original House of the Dead with a light gun on my biggest TV
Looks like this needs forked cores - meaning someone needs to maintain these separate from the creators of the core. Don’t think we would expect to see many updates to the main cores but I generally hate the concept of forked cores.
It will get merged into the main branch sooner or later. Don't shit on a project when it is in early stages. Just use a sperate SD card for the time being.
Has anybody had any kind of contact with this company? I have tried to contact them 3 times in the last 2 weeks with no response, customer service seems to be inexistent
Your TV does have a low latency game mode or sth. like it? When I tried this, the guns lagged considerably and I am pretty sure my TV was the culprit. Any advice on what to look out for when buying a new one?
This is cool if your into gaming, dont already have a collection of games, or are into tinkering i suppose. For me who owns most light guns/games for the north american market, and barely uses any of them. Mainly my ps1/2 stuff, and only once or twice a year these days. This product would be great for arcade games. Games I can't just buy and play on my crtv. Even then, the amount of learning how to set all that up, and mess around to get to work properly. Turns me off immediately. A younger me would do it, now I find my time is more valuable just playing what I have, versus diving in to another sub hobby of gaming. If there was a reasonably priced all in one console/gun. That you just have to load the arcade files into easily, I'd purchase that possibly.
Mines been in the box for 2 years. Would it work on my projector? I have a dedicated pc with hyperspin, been waiting on my seller to remotely install it to his settings.
Neil at RMC - The Cave has done some videos with Sinden on the guns, he also tried it out on a projector and it seemed to work. The issue is going to be how large the projected image will be and how far away you can stand/sit. Also If you're projecting onto a white wall or projector screen you'd either want to change the colour of the border or make sure you've got a bright projector and a dark room, otherwise it might not be able to pick up the border as being distinct from the wall/screen. I have a 48inch widescreen TV and I'd say I have to be at least 7 feet/2M+ away to get consistent aiming. There's a Sinden Discord and the people on there are probably able to give you more specifics and advice on using a projector.

Thanks so much. I love my Sinden and had lost hope Mister would ever get support! But here we are 👍
Great to see this working well done!

Wonder if it will be compatible with PS5 in the near future? House of the Dead Remake & HOTD2 Remake desperately need Siden support.
This had to come together! Love to see the progress.
Great stuff, hope it gets put into Mister main soon
Just purchased one of these just bare bones one to play with light gun games on the Mister. Thanks guys!

Yessss. I've been waiting for this before my purchase!!
Hope you get a ton more sales with the release of a MiSTer driver. Incredible!
What about Sega Saturn light gun titles?! Hopefully support for that core is in the works
Same question here
So excited this us the implementation I was wanting years for ❤️
Love it, and so glad this finally came about. Appreciate the nod amigo, teamwork makes the dream work.
Now its time for some MiSTer pew pew!
The day has come! Congrats! Great job!
Great to see this new development - good work mate!
Just done the Mike Hunt in my head with Duck Hunt. Surprised I never saw the fun in the name years ago.
Awesome to see this on MiSTer! Sweet that you have a matching Sinden and MultiSystem setup for it here 🙂
Great to see. Any support for the Master System core, Operation Wolf port on the MS is very good!!
Great news & timing to hear! Looking forward to trying out the new GRS Sinden Target Pro on the MiSTer
❤nice 😊
Absolutely amazing! 👌🏽
Oh hell yeah we been waiting for this one Im so happy ❤️😍😊
Nice, a new video, never heard of the MiSTer before.
Welcome. Down the rabbit hole you go!
@@retroreplay1980 Looks pretty cool but should be ok with my PC aha.
@@shaunmatthewcpoetry come to the dark side.. we have cookies... and lag free retro games!
Ohhhh damn, been waiting for this for a long time. Additional custom cores in the works?
Been waiting for this for a long time! Going to try this out tonight
Awesome!
Im angry, just sold mine after years of no developments. This is what I wanted as a day one pre orderer

Will arcade cores eventually work with this gun?
Hoping for this too. The arcade versions are definitely the best way to play these games
Jotego's working on a sinden compatible Laser Ghost core right now.
Doe the gun have issues with bias lighting behind the tv? I notice the tv in your example doesn’t have lights on. I can turn mine off but good to know
This is the greatest news ever! Thank you for making my dreams a reality

yeah, all we need is a gun with a 599$ pricetag :D

you're saying that if I buy these for my 23'' IPS, I would have a bad time?
@@Vospi Depends on how close you are. You have to have a full view of the entore screen on the cameras for the guns.

Stiffy activated. Now we need a Point Blank core.
Does the arcade pedal work with the mister fpga for the time crisis game in the PS1 core ?
我應該來購買一支了
Does the pedal work with Mister FPGA?
can I use GRS Sinden shotgun ?
Where is the link to the system? You only have a link to the gun and the driver
does it work with CRTs too?

I might be wrong, but I think his company make them.

Same for me unfortunately. Stumbled across this video and I've got a mister, I'll be digging out my sindeb.

It is clearly HDMI ta modern screen. No mention if this will work on an analogue screen in this video.
