Whenever I visit kolkata from Mumbai, Chennai or Delhi I feel things have slowed. Compared to other cities you can notice there’s a lack aspiration among people of kolkata.

At a time Bengal was the backbone of Indian economy but nowadays this city is going to be bad to worst conditions in terms of investment. One of the foremost reason is Politics. We are currently witnessing that the cities like Gurugram ,Noida are growing very fast this is due to good administration and security to investors and good understanding between the central government and that particular State.
As a northeastern I hoped Kolkata will rise up again or maybe some cities in WB especially Siliguri and Durgapur. This will boost growth in Northeast when a vibrant megapolis is very close.
Being a resident of this city and avid observer for last fifty years I am sorry to say that no reason is there which could not be overcome .It is no body but we itself residents of Kolkata who have to take blame for this pessimism prevalent here.we have made so many self goal which cannot be counted. We taught our labours wrong theory of not working and coercing salary without giving back any production.wectaughtvourvteachers to attend just the party meeting and do not teach.we taught our government employee to seek their own benifit and not to serve the public.we downed education by lowering the standard of education and not teaching proper education.we removed english in early years to make students unemployed. We let student unions to creat anarchy into educational institutions. We led politics led violence against industry and entrepreneur .we created cut money and extortion system in soceity. Last but not least we harbour xenophobia against our own linguistic diffrent indians. So none other we are the architect of our doomed future. It is just hoping against hope that this will be saved

What said Bengal is poor? Bengal doesn't even figure in top 10 poorest states and Bengal is officially declared as middle income state. UP, MP are among the poorest states of India. But you won't see StudyIQ make videos about their failed economy or law and order.

Why do people hate and defamed Kolkata I visited once and my feeling is that this city is a city of joy. It's the best city for poor as well as rich citizens. Recently achrya prasant released a video on female foeticide, he showed through evidence that 1crore hindu women have been killed in womb in last 10 years in bihar up Rajasthan Gujarat delhi haryana Punjab. And sex ratio at birth show that it is still happening. But our study iq is uninterested to show when people commit this crime. Because they are kattar hindu so their mistake are ok. Infrastructure of Kolkata is improving a lot currently with metro connectivity and better roads and flyovers, but that doesn't mean that roads and flyovers are good all over the city, even few years back waterlogging during rainy season was a problem in my area, but now it's been solved, still illegal construction and unaccounted hawkers all over the city are a major problem, recently many IT companies have come to Kolkata but what Bengal needs mainly right now is heavy industry
After all that I can say that lots of political desicion made this state or city very poor. But look into the new Kolkata West Bengal. Today's Kolkata West Bengal has changed after 2011 to till date.
Bengal's own political situation is a big reason, but also shifting of important institute from Kolkata to Delhi and Mumbai is a very big contributor. Political drama is very high in west bengal, in industrial sector we see high political drama. You can't run your business here freely, you have to pay gunda tax of every work. Now Bengal has hired civic police they collect money forcefully from truck owners.
This is due to the "service" mentality of Bengalis. Today, most of the capital is in the hands of non-bengalis. Lack of "entrepreneur" mentality among Bengalis make Kolkata poor. Although, we achieved freedom more than 75 years ago, but we are still hostile against Central government, capital and capitalism, landlords, entrepreneurs, industries & industrialists. This happens mostly due to the people of Bangladesh.
I stay in Gurgaon now, staying in Kolkata for couples of years I say, the government machines at least work better in Kolkata than Gurgaon. Villages are much better off than my birth state UP and people are much more civilised that most of the other states.

We taught our labours wrong theory of not working and coercing salary without giving back any production.wectaughtvourvteachers to attend just the party meeting and do not teach.we taught our government employee to seek their own benifit and not to serve the public.we downed education by lowering the standard of education and not teaching proper education.we removed english in early years to make students unemployed. Infrastructure of Kolkata is improving a lot currently with metro connectivity and better roads and flyovers, but that doesn't mean that roads and flyovers are good all over the city, even few years back waterlogging during rainy season was a problem in my area, but now it's been solved, still illegal construction and unaccounted hawkers all over the city are a major problem, recently many IT companies have come to Kolkata but what Bengal needs mainly right now is heavy industry

This is due to the "service" mentality of Bengalis. Today, most of the capital is in the hands of non-bengalis. Lack of "entrepreneur" mentality among Bengalis make Kolkata poor. Although, we achieved freedom more than 75 years ago, but we are still hostile against Central government, capital and capitalism, landlords, entrepreneurs, industries & industrialists. This happens mostly due to the people of Bangladesh.
I stay in Gurgaon now, staying in Kolkata for couples of years I say, the government machines at least work better in Kolkata than Gurgaon. Villages are much better off than my birth state UP and people are much more civilised that most of the other states.
