I joined in 1989, I had no idea what was in store for me, no idea what I had signed up for. I knew I was wanting out of the small town I grew up in, wasn't ready for college or a commitment such as the armed forces. I simply was out there, freshly graduated high school and that was that. I went to a meeting, next thing I knew I got a phone call, and they asked if I would be willing to go to San Luis Obispo, from there it was the Tahoe center. Young people listen... Joining was the absolute best decision I made of my young life, and so grateful to my counselor who pointed it out for me. At the time, I couldn't believe I was going to be leaving home, it was scary, and the training center was no joke! But again, it was the best experience, and ultimately led to my dream career. The people I met, the places I saw, and all I did will be in my memories for the rest of my life, the reforestation and trail work will be there beyond me, that means a lot.
Joined in 1988 became a crewleader and then a backcountry crewleader in 89 best thing that I ever did. Saved me from me glad I got off the streets and was able to turn myself around ccc was a life saver for me
years ago i worked for ccc . for the most part it was great , i loved it . it was short lived though . i had the poor luck of working with a person that acted like a 4th grade bully . the more i ignored him the worse it got . finally this person started falsely accusing people of racial behavior , this cost several people their jobs and put these people on a no hire list for all state and federal jobs . ccc is great but be careful who work with it might cost you your future . great video by the way .
The CCC is stupid and doesn’t do any investigations on claims by people because like most places they assume these problems will fix themselves. Sad that the people that run a lot of centers are ignorant and only go to get a check and clock out and not even care about the young adults that theyre supposed to protect, inspire , and progress
