It's a bigger shame that she had to give up her seat to run for it in a Primary. You don't have to do that if you run for President, why do you have to do it for the Senate?

@@debbiedoodiedandiShe wasn’t required to resign to RUN for senate. If she had won the senate seat, she would have then been required to resign her House seat.
However, Katie resigned her House seat (2-year election cycle) to run for the Senate (6-year election cycle) because when she ran for Senate, she was up for re-election in the House, and would have had to run two simultaneous campaigns just in case. That’s expensive, time consuming, and she’s a single mom, and not at all wealthy since she doesn’t engage in the insider trading and backroom political corruption that so many others in Congress do.
If every member of Congress, both House and Senate were as smart and thoughtful about what they were doing as Katie Porter is it would probably solve about 95% of the problems we now have. Unfortunately, we elect morons to represent us and if they’re not morons they’re probably being paid off by lobbyists.
The difference isn’t even about smarts. It’s purely about priorities - average Americans or their wallets.
Or both, we elect paid off morons.
This is exactly why it is so critical for people who actually do the work, who actually partisapate and are affected be a part of the leadership. No rich "professional" politician can ever understand what actual working people need and why they need it.
And Ms. Porter does? She is wrong on what it cost to run a dishwasher and her attempt to simply clown another member of Congress I assume is approved by you. She could simple vote against the measure if it isnt her cup of tea.
But she didnt explain what the bill was for. Just giving out misinformation on what it costs to run a dishwasher
How about urging our Republicans friends TO ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING! Write a bill? Save some seniors? Get a kid a damn lunch?

"He was the kind of guy who would give a hungry child his bag lunch without hesitation then go on to cut food assistance and school lunch programs without ever seeing the cause and effect or the contradiction." There is one man in my house (me) and 3 women (my wife and two "border-line adult" daughters. I assure you - I am the dishwasher loading expert in my house and it's not even close. More dishes, more clean/less rejects, no upside down "whaevers" filled with semi-dirty water. I can go to a "full" dishwasher, reorganize it, and fit in another 30% stuff that will come out cleaner than the smaller amount of stuff that was there in the first place. Cutlery tray or basket, adjustable or ridged tongs... doesn't matter. There are SO many other things in life I'd like to be good at... even competent at (playing a guitar, mudding dry-wall, Texas hold em) ... but this is the gift I was given. So, Ms. Porter; First, I hope you continue to serve in whatever capacity you see fit, and otherwise, I dare you to a dishwasher loading contest.

I don’t know the exact context but it looks house republicans voted to roll back some updated appliance related efficiency standards announced by the dept of energy back in April. A couple weeks back a lawsuit was also filed by forumshopping right wingers in Americas favorite federal court. So there’s something about this that they want scotus to review
