Im a former Ford-Lincoln dealer. We sold our last location 13 years ago, and retired. When the price of the vehicles outpaced the buyers income, and Manufacturer's placed tech ahead of serviceability, we bailed. We had been in the business since 1955.
Smart man you are
After a bad experience 2 yrs before, i turned the tables for buying my next new truck. I phoned three of the nearest Ford dealerships and, told each salesman what I was doing, what I wanted, it was up to them to win my business. This took 4 days of the dealerships bettering each other until finally I was happy & made my choice. I put a deposit down, signed here & here, 10 weeks later the truck arrived. It was such a good experience I bought a new tractor the same way, good again. All you need is a phone connection, nothing else.
I have always called around to all the dealers in a 300 mile radius got them to give me the out the door price . The ones that would not passed on them . The last new Tacoma I bought saved $3,500 from my local dealer OTDP as compared to the one 3.5 hours away . And they even delivered it right to my home .
Shopping around is the best bet. I did that with my last car purchase, contacted a number of dealers some responded with an OTD price and others asked me to come in for it. Overall, I got a great price by contacting multiple dealers.
Your very reliable, I can always count on you to give me the truth. I really appreciate your informative videos Mark. Very helpful info 👌 👍
Thanks Vincent. I appreciate your support as well. Cheers
After the horror stories about carvana, i was leary. They had a specific car with the right color and packages. Week later, it's delivered to the town over, and i go in and inspect the whole thing and take it for a test drive before i even had to sign paperwork. Salesman knew just to be friendly and excited for me. Went to Ford the day after and verified the vin and codes. Great experience, honestly. Wish more salespeople would treat me like they are earning business.
Me too
You will always be better off buying a used car from a dealer or private party where you can test drive, not an online store. Used cars are not created equal like new cars. It is shocking how many people buy from Carvana, who don't realize you can't simply buy a used car by comparing prices. I have been in the car business more than 25 years. When you buy a new car you can shop multiple dealers and compare apples to apples.
When buying used, you can not do that, because every car owner takes care of their cars differently. Most people buying online like at Carvana don't realize this. Most people don't understand how many used rental cars are in the used car market. I currently work for a rental car company, and I will tell you, NEVER buy a used rental car. So if you go to Carvana to buy a used car, do you know if it was a used rental car, or was it a car traded in from someone who takes care of their car like Grandma, or a car enthusiast? Not a hot rod car enthusiast, because they probably drove their car hard.
The existing dealer model will eventually drive themselves out of business. Especially as more manufacturers want to sell direct like Tesla. The constant price gouging, price addendums, the games the new and used care managers play, and the add-on's in finance, all make people loath the dealer experience. Then there's the service department where ALL service advisors are paid on commission, which feels like a conflict of interest, which creates a lack of trust with the service department.
Plan to spend over 6 hours at a dealership. Dinner time tell the salesperson your hungry. Go to a fast food place and bring it back to the dealership. Eat it very slowly to show your fir the best price. The food you purchased smells up the sales floor. The aroma last for hours making other workers pissed off.
😂😂😂😂
We've all got bad experience stories, mine was in Kelowna BC. I sat down and, let the sales do their sales/manager dance, each time they came back I'd tap away on my calculater, eventually we agreed a price. I & the wife are walking out of the dealership when the saesman rushes up to say he had a family to feed. Needless to say i never shopped there again.
We had a good experience with our last purchase. Took 4 hours but they were busy. Last day of the month. We had trim level and vin picked out and told sales men take off add on and get me odp. Then got trade in price knew what my truck was worth did all this ahead of time. Knew days on lot was 79 days. Due you home work ahead of time and you will have a good experience.
Good strategy!
Since 1955 … when models changed and were showcased every October.
I have been shopping for a 2025 Tundra 1794 in SE region and these Toyota dealers are terrible down here.
I kinda gave up buying a Tundra at the moment.
One salesperson wanted to charge me $899 for trade in reconditioning fee (2021 RST with 35k miles) and not even $1 off $72k MSRP!!!! This was 1 week before the new year.
Nonetheless, he will never get my money.
That was the wrong way to start a negotiation.
Subscription based services are only as good as long as the wireless service exists. Since Verizon cut off wireless to Genesis, those of us who have wireless remote start get disconnected permanently . Back to running out in February in our tshirt, in the winter to warm it. Just like we did with 1975 Fords
A big deal for me was getting the price that everyone would pay the same. Yes they can have sales or what not but the price is the price. I don’t like negotiating. That’s was one reason why I stick with Toyota. I remember my brother pushed a high end American model and the sales guy took over 20,000 off 🤷🏻♂️I will never buy from that company ever and I can see why that one company I’m talking about might go under now. If I remember they took 30,000 off in the end. That’s no way of doing business.
I still dont understand the point of spending all day jut to purchase a vehicle.
Yeah, too much hassle.
Dealers are nuts I 'aamn looking at 2022 off lease bmw x3xdrives they are priced at around 34 35 or 36,000 I put offer in of 32,000 out the door an nobody wants to deal there are tons of these suvs on the market an not selling you would think if they have someone wanting to buy they would do a deal move the dam suv i'am not paying to much for a 3 yr old suv an 32,000 out the door isn't trying to buy it for nothing talk about stupid greed they will never sell all these with the market flooded with them a lot of them are forsale for months not moving its called priced to high idiots
I would rather go to the car lot and look at the vehicle I'm interested in, than going online, and I would rather go to a used car lot not the new vehicle stealerships, because I don't trust the new cars
Stealerships: Online!? We must ALWAYS be the middlemen, we must markup the car so much that it's REASONABLE to us!
Online Shoppers: They took away direct buying from Manufacturer? Guess I'll just buy an Electric Bicycle then...
