The garden design is a dream. I would put espalier fruit trees along with the pergola - on the sunny side. 🍏🍐 and perhaps some small fruit trees along the walls - depending on the amount of sun you get 🍑🫐🍒. And a lot of native flowers for the insects 🐝 🐞

Definitely go for the greenhouse and shed. You will not regret having the storage for tools etc, and the greenhouse will make it possible to expand your growing season to year-round if you care to get seeds started in January/February! You’ll love it!

Hope you're okay. The way you're feeling is justified. It's hard to always stay positive and have direction. I think you have to try and see the positive in the smaller things in life like looking forward to a bath or treating yourself to your favourite food. Try and break things in to manageable amounts and set small goals that are achievable, this can help give you a boost.
Trick for socks - when you take them off, roll them together (the way you do when you put them away after laundering) and put them in laundry. Then when you do laundry pull them apart and throw in machine. That way you know every sock had a match when it went into the washing machine.
Buy laundry bags - basically mesh with zips (John Lewis/Amazon). Usually come in packs of 3 sizes. Socks inside, then into your regular laundry. They can't go astray

Best thing we ever did was getting a garden designer. She recommended someone to carry out the work and even came back to plant flowers. After not using it much before,we spend as much time as we can out there. Scottish weather allowing.

And the grass is awesome, I'm sure you will get lots of use out of it like Botcha in summer, sunbathing, playing with kids and dogs.

ANd it is very good at the beginning to get a bit of expert knowlegde, if you never had a garden before, like when do you cut things, back, how much, which plants need a bit more care, ecofriendly protection of vegetables. And definetly side with Marks Idea about wildlife. It doesn't need to be traditional, you can get very modern elements with traditional flowers. I currently planning for beefriendly flowerpatches and something that blooms over the whole year, with herbs and flowers in combination - plus I can use it in the kitchen.

As a landscape architect, I also design gardens and I'm so happy that you've hired a professional! That's going to be worth it so much and I'm sure you're gonna have a high-quality garden with the perfect plants that is gonna be long-lasting :) With some native plants, I think it mixes well the modern and the natural line, too!

As a plant biologist, a potting area seems great I would keep some kind of greenhouse to germinate all the plants for the veg patch except if you have a winter garden that acts as a greenhouse basically.
Love the garden plans. The triangular orientation seems very modern. If this is the end plan, I’d love to know how she envisions the garden in stages. What comes first, etc. This is going to be very exciting!

Your garden designer did a beautiful job! I love the potting area and greenhouse for your veggie planting, and flowers too! My only concern is with the triangular veg area against two tall fences and the pergola on the third side, will it get enough full sun? I saw a little dappled sun on one of your other fences away from the veg patch, but without seeing directions notated on the plans, it’s difficult to tell from this video, but definitely something to consider when growing veggies that tend to like full sun! I love how she created entertaining, relaxation, and practical zones for a very versatile space! I’m so excited for you both to start planing what will be planted where! And a big woo Hoo on the recovered sock! 😉😁👍🏻
