Microsoft’s PC Re-Invention, What We Really Think

- AI, AI.. And oh, did I also say AI? I think at this point, the whole concept of Artificial Intelligence has become a bit much. Google repeated it 120 times at IO, Apple also did a good amount at their recent iPad event, but props where props is due, the company that truly made it a buzzword is Microsoft with their Open AI collaboration. Clearly the guys at Redmond are on a mission to ensure they remain on-top in the trend, and Microsoft's Build 2024 keynote wasn't just about the theory, but instead about how they're planning to marry software with powerful hardware. Yes, there's a lot that you can already do with your current computers, but let's just say, the new computers that are coming will help you do so much more. I'm Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow and it's time for another deep dive into what we've learned, and why you should care.

Welcome back to RUclips! Used to watch you for 10 years and I'm really happy to see that you're still going!
Where have you been Jaime you haven't uploaded a video in weeks?
Haven’t really posted much lately
Creepy of you.to ask him that
Pocketnow got acquired by another company
Man that was OVER 2 Years ago. How is that relevant? @@Fals3Agent
You do know that Jaime doesn't own the channel, right?
Copilot is addicting because it’s so useful. It’s the first “assistant” that can display and share spot price gold. Explain calls and puts.
Also, Windows 11 is a polished, and finished product. It makes Windows 10 look like developer software in comparison.
Haime Rreverra is back 🎉
I missed the Riviera voice. 🥲
I really don't care about AI....I just want Windows laptop with Macbook Air's battery performance
True.
Soon
The requirement that chips have NPU is a big move. Once the hardware is mainstream, and every computer has a neural processor built in, developers would start to use it more to write more efficient apps by offloading some tasks to it.
Finally.. omg.. where have you been. Seriously...
I grew up last decade watching your content. Greetings
great video, and great to see you back, Jaime!
Nice to see you my brother love your videos always great reviews.
It feels like the "Information Superhighway" era again.
The first Microsoft AI was actually Clippy in my opinion. 🙂
Amen! 🤣🤣
Facts!
actually the ones in microsoft bob
All Hail Clippy!
Better get rid of intimate/creepy stuff from your HD before getting an AI PC. Welcome to the era of naked internet surfing.
Thanx Jamie good insight nice to see you...
6:48 Any idea on how big the battery is on the surface Laptop 7?
Good video! After watching multiple videos regarding Microsoft's new equipment, you approached it from fresh angles. Notably the focus on keeping the AI "on board" versus relying on cloud functions. The web access infrastructure is more critical than often admitted. Thanks for your efforts! Thumbs up!
So... I just bought 2 weeks ago a Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360. Should I return it and wait for the new generation of Microsoft laptops??
Absolutely. That will be a wiser choice
I'm selling my Galaxy Book 3 Pro, and pre-ordered the Surface Pro. I'm so over Intel's fan noise and subpar battery life.
100%, you got a laptop right on the cusp of a huge revamp in the PC landscape for high performance with high efficiency. It’s the Apple M series chip equivalent for Windows. Leaving Intel behind was one of the best things Apple did for their laptops, the same thing is happening for PC. I think you’ll surely regret it if you don’t while you still can
I would tbh
Definitely! I’m even selling my iPad M2 to get the Surface Pro
BIG changes coming in LUNAR LAKE though. Power Via backside power, Ribbon FET, 1.8 nanometer, AND, drum-roll, Power islands, also known as voltage islands, allow different areas of a single chip to operate at different voltage levels and frequencies. This concept can provide several advantages, including: Adaptive power management, Fine-grained control, and Minimal power and frequency.
Nice to see you back.
your latest logo is like Property Agent brand now. lol
We need a 15 inch surface pro
One A.I will replace you as well, my friend.
Has there been a video announcing the reduced output? What's happening Jaime?
Great to see you again, Jaime! Hope you've been well.
Looking forward to seeing folks running Linux on these new chips. As a guy who runs Asahi Linux on an M1 Mac, it's fun to see a new ARM computer. I'd buy one of these if I could run it Microsoft-free.
Linaro is working on Linux support and it's pretty much enabled :)
@@bharath2633 That's the best thing I've heard about this whole thing. I've been reading about how many folks having a bad time with some other brands of ARM processor. Some machines have only 4GB and yet are designed for developers to create software for Windows-on-ARM apps. Mahalo for making this known! I want to read up on Linaro. Much aloha to you!
The new logo on channel is Not you guys! Please change it
I am curious about Snapdragon compatibility. The Surface Pro X was beautiful, but some apps were not optimal or didn’t run at all. Let see if this is improved. Windows on ARM needs to be performant.
Everyone who doesn't want to have the new creepy Windows features with those Snapdragon Elite laptops: Qualcomm is bringing FULL and unaltered Linux support for all the new chipset lines and with that, the new laptops. They already started working on this with kernel developers and the wider Linux community.
Our company is switching all systems to Linux now since the news of the recall feature. It's a security risk and as engineers we don't feel comfortable with the idea of a foreign corporation recording our data. There is no guarantee against corporate espionage.
@@tiaanbasson9092 Well, that is a nice and understandable decision.
@@tiaanbasson9092 If you are afraid of Recall you can just turn it off.
great video man
Great! Finally, competition. Woohoo!🎉
With this jump to Windows on arm do you think they'll push hard for another Windows phone now that there will actually be some developer support?
I was wondering where you've been. Great to have you back.
AI is kinda oversaturated now...
There's an AI tool which will let you desaturate it.
@@KetoJesus I see what you did there 😂
Have not had chance to check out the New Surface .Need to do so.Thanks so much for sharing Enjoyed.💯✌️
What about the Surface Go?
I haven't seen anything, or anybody covering these GREAT devices.
I still use my 1st Gen Surface Go regularly .
sir how this compare to powerfull gaming laptop ? if snapdragon processor want to make gaming laptop is this comparable to ROG g16 Lenovo legion kind laptop ?
I think that recall thing is gimmicky very rarely would I need to remember what I was doing. I usually know what I’m doing, but I think what it does do is it gives the AI context of what you’ve been working on when you ask it questions in the future. So that you don’t have to explain everything each time to ask it questions.
The new logo is cool
Please bring back Pocketnow daily videos :)
What smart ring are you wearing?
Ultrahuman Ring Air
I have missed you Jaime. After watching a lot of tech videos, I can say , you and POCKET NOW are in the top 3. ❤❤
Does the snapdragon elite/plus PC's support native window apps?
As in Win32/Winform/WPF apps? Yes for sure. It supports all types of windows apps.
Just like the word elite, this is not affordable for a teacher like me.
Stay tuned 😜
Every year Apple does some small tweaks and use their IT wing to promote their products.
Interesting concept, but to me it reminds me of the BIG computer vs. my little computer….. But now AI is everywhere .
It’s only starting up, and it’ll be interesting to see where it goes.
5 Gpedit > User Config > Admin Templates > windows Components > Windows Copilot >
I don't care that much about the AI. I am interested in performance and longer battery life.
Why is no one asking the question how much storage space is the recall function going to take up and how much will it slow down the cpu and drain the battery?
But…..third party software support for ARM based Windows any better??
OLED displays suck your battery dry, quickly!
Hey your back!
I for one have been waiting for a true digital assistant to partner with me for anything and everything I can think of for work and play. I was one of the first to opt in for Copilot Pro for Office 365 and Copilot Preview in Windows 11 along with Copilot for Bing/Edge. From a productivity perspective, the improvements I have experienced has been in a word, transforming. And this is all being performed from the cloud services of Microsoft. I would love to have a lot of power on my Windows PC. I have not been this excited to consider a new Windows PC sooner rather than later in a long time. In my case, I would rather wait until Intel provides their solution and compare x86 Intel vs AMD and ARM.
I am so excited to see these new Copilot + PC models from Samsung. And in my view while all these advancements are outstanding for the PC, it is only a piece of the answer for me. I want a seamless experience with my Samsung Galaxy S smartphone and Tab S tablet as well. I think Apple will make this integration before Windows and Android can. Come to think about it, Samsung may just surprise everyone and integrate this into the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem. Go Samsung!
Also, new logo after a long damn time. I feel like some channel I followed also change their logos as well🤔
please give us more on the product that best take advantage of AI power
where are type A, HDMI ports, storage less than mobile phones and no numpad keys separately but expensive?
I just want my handy printer to have driver support. Arm64 doesn’t have drivers yet.
AI, AI, AI…. seems to be more of a rallying call for investor optimism and marketing. A decade ago, it was all “quantum this and quantum that”. And what has quantum been able to offer human progress thus far?
I want the Copilot + Zune! Just kidding. 🤣 Microsoft is rolling out amazing AI software with some very attractive hardware. I barely touch my Mac anymore and its only to use Final Cut Pro X and iMessage. Great to see Microsoft crushing it on the consumer hardware once more!
I agree - I was deep in the Apple eco system but now my iPad is enough to get my media stuff done so to add to my iPad I look forward to adding a co-pilot machine (Surface Pro 9 maybe). As you say it is good to see them shine now and we have some balance in the consumer market
Zune: welcome to the social. Yes I remember the oddest and stupidest thing.
Copilot is the end of privacy. No, thanks.
I cannot put these laptops into my pocket now
What’s wrong with using the back as a camera and why would anyone ever care?
Nice video señor Rivera. +1
cortana is still the best name for AI of microsoft
It’s only a month away
Next AI Soda to make you robotic
So fyi I spoke with MS today cannot buy surface pro in Saffire with 32GB ram and 1TB HD. That spec only on platinum color for some reason. So far
The price is too much.
But what about A.I.?
Just wait for WWDC, all these neural engines aren't in Apple devices for no reason …
Meaning?
@@ForgingMyLife Apple is also said to introduce a lot AI stuff at WWDC on June 10th.
"The whole concept of AI is getting a bit much". Seriously Jaime? You better strap in.
AI? Never heard of her.
now it's time to bring back the windows phone. Do it Microsoft
Jamie is my favorite RUclipsr ❤
Beo where is the ONEPLUS 12 review??
Sergio Rivera, I’m not sure Apple, are going against AI, at 40 tops, in AI, the M4, is actually sufficiently ai prioritised, to run ai as well as a Microsoft Surface AI, at 40 Tops. They haven’t been slouches, my iPad mini 6, Apple TV, runs at 16 tops, my Mac mini M1, runs at 8 tops in ai. My AMD Ryzen 5 8600, only runs at 16 tops and that’s the only windows AI computer, I could buy, at a reasonable price.
AI AI, where is my skynet?
I don't want AI.. I also don't want a computer that doesn't run the software I need and "prism" seems about as capable as E.T. on Atari was at being fun.
So is the pocket now site dead or something?
June 18th is less than 3 weeks away. That's not a long time
Jaime Rrrrrrrrrrrrivera
POCKET NOW IS BAAAACK :-)
my computer just got a big updtae. i've just turned copliot off
Microsoft needs to shove CoPilot somewhere the sun don't shine.
No LG laptops?
The newest approach to JAVA like functionality, server and end-point co-operation, nothing new just a new flavor for modern times. The idea is valid but nothing new!
The new MSFT Recall app in the new MSFT PC's will record **everything** I would do, every web site I look up, every email I send, every Chat I have, .. everything. Oh ... Redmond's lost it. Seriously considering another non-Windows platform. There are serious consumer options to Windows at that MSFT price to my privacy.
You do realize you can turn it off or adjust what it sees right?
@@onlysublime I live in Redmond, worked on Main Campus for 15 yrs, retired now and worked on the dev side of the main platforms. I kind of know how it works on the inside. No thanks ...

Windows taking screenshots of my desktop and using AI to look at it is a big no from me. I’m most likely going to switch to Apple because of this, depending on what Apple does at WWDC, or switching to Linux.
crapple says they are gonna go deep in AI
I just want a Windows PC that doesn't burn my legs while using it on my lap and kill the battery in 4 hours.
excelente laptop
I still think if they paid a royalty, they could rename it TOTAL RECALL
Good
It's going to be an absolute privacy and ethical nightmare coming from Microsoft. I love that the media is lapping up their marketing around this. Don't fall for the hype.
Microsoft, the best company!
I reject Microsoft's "PC Re-invention"
I reject an OS that records everything I do.
I reject losing my computing freedom.
I reject Microsoft Windows. I don't trust them. They could move Recall to online "for security" and then it'll be a privacy nightmare when it gets hacked.
I'm running Linux. The last bastion of computing freedom it seems like.
Not AI 😦
