- All the restoration is done, now it's time to take it for a test run to see the punch list things that will need adjustment. The boat floats, but we experience some problems with the motor. Watch and see what happens as we strive to modify it and get it ready for a camping trip.

If the boat still did not plane with the jack plate to raise the motor, then it might be water inside the hull that is preventing you from getting on plane.
You can get water over the back like that when the motor is sitting too low in the water.

Hope you have this issue fixed they make a jack plate. Looks like a long shaft on a 15" transom. Vs a 20"

We did, a jack plate and it is runs like a gem.
I knew would....loving my little Gheenoe...plan on going up to sherin harris this week ..me and nate maybe Wednesday when there not quite so much boat traffic..

Ron most anytime I'm retired...so i don't do too much...i went up to jordan where i seen in your video and caught a few crappie and bass...
Cavitation plate is to low. It should be even with the bottom of the boat or no more than a half inch higher than the bottom. Unless it is set back. Splash guards can be installed to help slow down the intake of water over the transom.

Whats the leg size on the outboard and what size transom? Make sure it's not a 20" motor on a 15" transom. The cavitation plate should be about level with the bottom hull
Appreciate the questions! It was a long shaft, but my transom is 17”, I think it could have had a short shaft amd been fine, but I got a Jack plate

dude , you have a weight displacement issue. also can happen if engine is set too low. water shouldn't be coming in . i hope you got it fixed.

I had the same problem with my J-14 when I put a new motor on then I watched the RUclips video and it said that it was porpoising because it didn't have the hydrofoils on the motor the motor I just took off the boat had hydrofoil so I took those off added two new ones on Bada Boom Bada Bing

@@outdoorheretic8232 it's a good solid boat it has served me well I'm waiting to take it to the mechanic because my impeller stopped working I took everything off I stripped it down I'm sanding it I'm going to paint it very light seafoam green I'm going to put foam down in the areas where I walk

I did a similar project my console was a little more forward my console was of a G3 That. Was a little bigger also.. I went from mercury 2 stroke 25 short shaft put ln 5 inch transoom elevator put on f
30 hp mercury elopt.wiyh A 4 blade 10 1/4.d ×13 pitch prop. ..but it's taking me 15 seconds to get on plane but after that it runs out very nice wot about 30 knots I need to install a tach to fine tunn

Just put bennet trim tabs on my j12 .. boat couldnt plane out now it planes instantly

How do you feel about the boat? I think that flat bottom is rough, in rough water.
I ended up selling it, it did ok, just didn't like the waves once you stop, much better bay, river, or small lake boat.
