Larry the bags are back I was in from 2015-2019 and we got them every December but they weren't much maybe just some chips and tuna and a couple honey buns no clothes or cups or anything. It was purchased through the trust fund.

It’s originally a quote from a letter from St. Augustine, modernized in Ghandi’s autobiography as “hate the sin and not the sinner”. Larry knows all of the best sayings.

Larry is a different breed. Most people stay in and out of prision for their whole lives. Laryy got out and solved all his problems and now makes great RUclips videos which help me and other people get throughout life. Thank you larry.

In prison a transistor radio would be preferable over say an MP3 player. Hard and expensive to load up an MP3 player with music. Radio you just change the station

yes even holidays at home can be tricky. just got to stay patient and sometimes stop talking and stay silent. good way to keep the peace
I feel you my brother has beef with my step mom and gets in a fight with her every time they talk. Needless to say they ruined thanks giving.

When I grew up in the 90s I still got just 1 or 2 presents. Christmas wasn't about presents it was about family. When I became a big dealer in my city I was able to afford good Christmas for my family .. when I got put into jail for the first time for my first DUI it really humbled me. It really taught me the truth of Christmas. I lost both of my boys when I was locked up and I almost killed myself.. believe it or not, my celly saved my life. There was no being a tough guy when I called my mother to ask about my family, and finding out my fiance was smoking crack around my children and ended up killing them. She's serving 2 life sentences for double murder. How could a mother do this to her son's?? I literally crumpled at the phone and cried my eyes out.. once the guys in my pod realized what happened I got several I'm so sorry man, there anything I can do? I know jail/prison that is a hard place to be, but once they learned what had happened they came together to try and help me anyway they could. We deserve prison and jail reform badly.. just because your a inmate/convict doesn't mean your not a human being

Sheesh.. they took away the Christmas bags? Even in Canada, with a large movement towards hard on crime approach, they still get Christmas bags. I have some friends inside Fed Pens here, and even the most hard ass guards hand out something at Christmas, even its its only a candy bar or something small, even in the hole, or solitary as its called here, you get your bag and guard handout.
yes - even the littlest thing could help make it a little better.

Im not a bleeding heart for inmates by any means, you did what you did and got what you got.. but, there's no reason why, especially when its all donated, at least ONCE per year you can't bring yourself to treat them like human beings. And I think thats often forgotten, yes, they did what they did, but at the end of the day they are still human beings

I don't know you but I love you're energy. Depression is real. I've been no further than county jail but after my wife left me 2 years ago I spent over a year sleeping in my car and trying to drink myself to death. But my little guy on my profile pic kept me going and I got another house and im getting to be happy again. Salute to you Mr. Lawton. Merry Christmas

Lol, if you're locked up on your birthday dont let anybody know it lol (at least where I've been). You're gonna get your licks and a blistered ass. One thing about it though, if that happens, it's just fun and games. If the cell, pod, or dorm doesnt do that to you, then pretty much nobody likes you lol. Then you usually get another beating the night before or the day you get out.

One thing I can say as a retired Federal Prison Counselor is Larry takes responsibility for being in prison. If you only knew how many inmates say they were completely innocent. Larry does not, he admits his criminal past. As a staff member. We liked inmates like him.

I never really thought about what it would be like in prison for Christmas and it's sad that they took away the gift bags that could make prisoners feel human for a second

@CMS Gaming isn't the point of prison to rehab people. To break them of the bad habits of crime not turn them into animals
It makes you realize the things you take for granted. Simple things. Even when you think your life sucks, you can still be treated like a human on the outside. That’s not a trivial thing.
You’d only realize how much it means when it gets taken away.
You are truly a profound, inspirational human being. So much knowledge through experience. As well as willingness to help. The world needs more Larry Lawtons

My wife had a lifelong friend who went to prison for (I believe) 5 yrs. and she would write to him and always wanted to send money and paper. I would tell her no. He had food and they gave him paper. I feel awful now. I didn't have any idea how bad it was. He's dead now. He had a kidney disease that ran in his family. When he got out, I had an old truck that was in great condition and I sold it to him and let him make payments and I also threw a fishing pole in the back. I think he was more excited about the fishing pole than that truck. Evidently, before he went to prison, if you wanted to find Ray he would be fishing down at the river. I even gave him a box with tackle. I hope I somehow made up for my ignorance when he was in prison. You have definitely opened my eyes with these vlogs Larry. Take care and thanks.

i have a uncle that's in prison. He has been in their for 13 years and still has a couple more to go. Its rough but he calls and for xmas the prison he is at you can pay for a gift package that's on there site and make a basket up with food, candy, socks stuff like that. He really enjoys it
sorry to hear your uncle is in but that gift sounds wonderful. he is very lucky to have support and love from the family outside. try to keep it up now and then - it means so much

This vid got my tears going like the Niagara. Seven kids with the same lady and I had just lost them all for my first Christmas locked up. Thank you for what you do Mr. Lawton. Just opening one persons eyes to hopefully save him or her to change direction in life makes you a saint in the Church of S.K.P. Never stop

This reminds me when I was real little my mom sent a letter and a book to the drunk driver that hit her and left nearly killing her. She forgave him in that letter and honestly she is stronger than me I don’t think I would have ever been able to do that.

@@LarryLawtonJewelThief Were they good guards or cool guards who turned their heads to institutional violations?. Good is subjective. Good guards are ones who performed their duties with honor and intergrity. They don't harass or curse inmates or other staff. They don't bring in contraband or take out contraband and they don't allow inmates to hide hooch in elevators. They don't have spagetti dinners with inmates and stolen food from food service. They bring their own food in fom home and they don't eat food from food service without paying for it.

I see you have a badge, how many cops or deputies have you witnessed do something against the regulations and turn your head or look the other way. It is all subjective for sure. I think I mean good to me or at least human to inmates. But I respect everyone's opinion and views, no matter what they are. We can agree to disagree.
@@cldyicyylol2847 Oscar, I doubt everyone can be a good person but then good is subjective Herr Hitler was probably very good to those he liked but if they disagreed with him or betrayed him, he could show is evil. Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel found out by being forced to poision himself and many of his Brownshirts ( Sturmabteilung) found out how evil he was towards them during the Night of the Long Knives. He purged them (betrayed them) by murdring them. These were the ones who put him ito power. I hope you are correct but history does not show it. Just an opinion about good people.

The way I see it, being locked up is the punishment for your crime, no part of that includes torture, abuse and dehumanisation. Taking away presents that don't cost the prison any money is a joke. You are a great inspiration Larry to everyone. Another great video.

Love watching your videos, I wanted to know if it is a good idea to call up my uncle whos been in prison for almost 6 years, I haven't talked to him since he got locked up. I'm not sure if it is a great idea because he was an addict and he betrayed my aunt whom i'm very close to. If you could tell me what would be best I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
it's great that you are giving it thought. I'd write first to test the waters. you may want to establish a relationship again since you both have been through so much over 6 years. let him know you'll all if he wants so you give him the choice to tell you when he's ready. like I said best to do regular communications if you can. thank you for being considerate!
