Awesome channel! I'm also a huge tropical fruit enthusiast in the Bay Area. What part of the Bay Area are you located in? I'm in the East Bay close to the water and have seen banana trees growing out here for many years. I'm growing one indoors right now. Do you have any pups for sale? Great work!
Can you recommend a place to buy banana plants in SF Bay Area? Thank you! Seems they are not in stock at nurseries in early spring, late winter. I know Costco will carry them eventually. Nice channel! Thank you!
Where are you in the Bay Area? I am in Redwood City and my Goldfinger banana is just blooming and it is September 23rd. My ice cream banana did the same thing last year and it got very beat up by the winter we had. Once I harvested them, they were all black but still tasty. Is there a way to get the banana to bloom in the Spring? My first one did but these last two bloomed very late so getting them through the crazy winter is a challenge. Not sure if I should be doing something to protect the banana stalk through the winter or if there is a way to get it to bloom in the Spring. Any ideas?
We’re in Sunnyvale, so not that far from you. Unfortunately we don’t know of any ways to delay the blooming :(. We don’t protect the banana plants but they are against 2 walls so that may protect them somewhat. Best of luck to your 🍌 🌴 this winter!
We’re in the San Francisco Bay Area. We’re usually 5 degrees Fahrenheit below you so we’re jealous of your weather. Bananas are nutrient hogs so make sure you pile the compost!!
@@practicalorganicliving Amazing! Subscribed. Also do you ever sell any of your pups? If you are ever in need of thinning some plants out, I would love to buy one!:)

No pups for sale…pups are too easy to get :). We’re in South Bay so slightly colder in winter. But, bananas don’t seem to mind!
@@practicalorganicliving thank you! I'm going to do the best I can for my banana and I'll keep watching your progress!
@@MarkT923 Thanks! Means a lot to our channel :)

We’ve seen them at Home Depot’s in late spring and early summer. Hope this helps and thank you for the very kind words!!
Also some places will have them on sale towards the fall and cooler weather, so it may be a good idea to start hunting in a few months!

Wow! They look amazing. Where do you live? I’m here in La, and I do get bananas, but not that many, and they are fairly small.
