Great playing...!! I think I will try that FR with a Tone Master Pro. I already love TMP with headphones. That FR should fit nice for practicing without headphones.
Awesome!!! The tone is great but your playing is amazing! And I know how the tone come from the playing and not just from the gear! (Strat and Fractal user here but I can't play like that! :)
My first question was whether the lack of bass was the angle of the speaker... then you moved it on the ground and answered my question! Nice licks, BTW.
Cheers - I've also got a treble bleed on my volume pot so it tends to thin out a touch when I roll that off. I believe I had the bass down a touch on the FR-12 as well.
Nice play Gary! I’m considering purchasing the FR-10 or FR-12 and can’t decide between both. Did you try the FR-10? I fear the 12 has too much low end to my taste and unfortunately I can’t test them as almost no shop has both in stock around me.
no I didn't try the 10 - I figured I'd go big! ;) I've heard nothing but good things them though - you can also dial in or out some low end with the on-board eq controls.
Hello Gary. For monitoring in stage Fender tone máster is enough power? And for have all modeler funcinality in live on stage, stereo efectos, etc, is best mono or two frfr in stereo??
Hi Juan - I found with the FM9 the FR-12 has plenty of power to keep up with a drummer on stage. I run just one, and have always run mono live. Stereo would be fun, but I'm not sure that it would translate well to a live situation. I'd like to try running two at some point! Cheers 🤘
cheers! I did turn up the cut knob just a slight bit and had the bass rolled down just a touch, but I like it with the bass at noon as well - not a big deal.
Wow!!! Great tones and playing. Been trying to get this sound in my FM9, any hints? Is that a Super Reverb or did you mix in another amp. I’d kill for that tone. Are you selling presets?
It's the Super Reverb only - check the Fractal Forums - I uploaded my preset that's basically this one ( I was tweaking it again today so it's slightly different now). With the Super I run it around B 2-3, M 5-6, T 8-9, and volume around 8-9. You can play with the input gain if you want to clean it up or get it dirtier. If you find some harshness happening try an EQ notch around 2-2.5 kHz that's usually where it lives. 🤘
@@darrinhowse2399 I've got a new album in the can, so once it's released I'm going to sell all the presets I used to record it so keep an eye out ;) Good luck - happy tone-hunting!
I A/B'd them and the FR-12 is a noticable improvement. Hard to describe audio, but I'd say it sounds more realistic and full. The EV has more extreme bottom end but that only comes into play with pitch-down fx. Volume -wise I think it should hang - I'm using it tonight but will bring the EV as backup.
@@GaryCainMusic It seems not to be as loud as the Powercab 1x12 or an EV ELX200 12P. But I do like the sound. Fuller with less harshness. Good luck tonight. Look forward to hearing your review after the gig.
@@angrybuzzy the current gen EV ELX are rated for 132 dB max, the Fender is 130, so not that much daylight between them. The Powercab 1x12 is 125 dB rated.
@@GaryCainMusic Right. But for some reason reason when playing with a full band it seemed like the FR-12 wasn’t s as loud as those others mentioned. I had considered getting a second as I do like the overall sound and run them wet dry. Looking forward to some good video and your review.
@@angrybuzzy oh you've got one? I didn't realize! I'm taking the EV along as backup tonight and will also be running into the PA - but yeah I think a second FR 12 might be in my future...
@@TheLadsBandLive cheers! No problem with the bottom end - there is onboard EQ but I leave it flat. If anything it would be nice if it had just a touch more extension into the lows for octave down effects, but other than that, it's pretty nicely balanced.
@@GaryCainMusic Thanks for the reply! Been chasing my tail a bit trying to decide between the 12 and 10. Mostly play outdoors so I suppose I can't have too much bottom end. 😬
So I'm ordering a FM3 this week and about 90% sure I'm pairing it with a FR10 or 12... Its for home only at this point. In your opinion am I making the best choice for my speaker? Was looking at the Red sound that Fractal sells as well but for 2x the price I cant imagine it being to 2x better if better at all...thanks, great playing man!
If it's solely for home at lower/bedroom levels, I'd look at a good pair of studio speakers. If you're cranking it up a bit, the FR-12 is the best bang for buck I've found so far. Have fun with the FM3!
There is a low-level hiss similar to what a tube amp sounds like at idle. For me it's not really an issue as my main use for it is live gigs, and the hiss doesn't change volume when you turn it up, so you can't hear it on a gig. If you are using it at bedroom levels then it would be a matter of how much it bothers you. It would be nice if it wasn't there, but it's not the end of the world. That said, if your primary use for it is playing at quieter volumes, I might look at some studio speakers as this thing is built to go loud so a bit of overkill if you're just using it quietly.
@@GaryCainMusic thank you! It would be for home use (loud home use ;)) because i only play in Ear on tour. I think i might try it! My studio monitors just sound too small for noodling around at home :D
Yes, it's really good sounding and close to half as expensive as other comparable PA speaker/wedge options. Also looks a lot better on stage and is quite light to carry!
1st. You play great and nice song choice. Tonewise, it sounds thin. I had a FM9 too. You need to 10 or 12" real amps. Get it on some carpet. That hard wood is too much. You need more base. Room is too big. It sounds decent just not epic. I have an epic set up. 5 cabinets in a semi-circle. Look into a Trio+ to add to the party- you will love it.
@@JuanPerez-xg6lt So what? I have played gigs and with large groups of 10+ and in bars before AND like him, I also play at home. In this video, he is also playing AT HOME. What is your point exactly?

came to see how Fractal and Fender sounds together, stayed for super awesome playing. I should get one to pair with my FM3. Thanks for the video.
Thanks! So far it's a keeper!
Nah- get two 12" amps like Fender Reverbs. Speaker choice matters and room treatment.

Which output settings?
Thanks for the great demo! Do you trust this for creating presets? How do they translate to FOH? Thanks!
