Master Luthier Chris Eccleshall said that Rory's Strat neck was the best he'd ever worked on. All his Strat/Tele builds had copies of that neck, including the Electric Lady models we built together
It was my dad's. First instrument I started learning as a kid because my hands wouldnt fit round a guitar neck then! Not custom built, but the same model @electricladyguitarsdevonuk1414
@@danadams8649 I did enjoy their 2nd album, but the whole thing now feels like typical music industry marketing strategy to reach the “mainstream”. Perfectly fine if they wanna roll with that, I just don’t buy it.
I don‘t get the condescending comments on Carlos… he might not be the greatest player technically but you should listen to his work in Fontaines DC! The way these guys are writing such unique songs and bringing guitar driven rock music to a younger audience internationally is just great. For a young guitar player as myself I think it‘s so inspiring to see musicians like Carlos appreciating their Irish heritage and getting the chance to witness what these guitars must have been like to play. In my opinion it is much more interesting to watch a guy like him play and react to these guitars than Joe Bonamassa (who is admittedly one of the best players in the world) shred some Eric Johnsony Blues licks and tell you all about the history of slab board fenders.
Love Rory’s Strat obviously but my fave is that green Epiphone; love the bat wing head stock. Thinking first saw Danny Kustow playing one with Tom Robinson Band and wanted one then. What a treat to be able to play those great guitars 👍
If you think about the fact that Rory has never stopped using it since he bought it, his Stratocaster is surely the most played Stratocaster in the world. In fact, the most played guitar, because I can't think of any other guitarist who has been so faithful to a single instrument.
@arthurdevoghel1426 There's no comparison, Rory played practically all year round and many of his concerts lasted three hours, not to mention their intensity. The peeling guitars on both of them aren't the only sign that they've been used a lot, as other factors can also indicate this, such as Rory's well-known acid sweat. I myself have a strange kind of sweat and I've already peeled the varnish off a Stratocaster... and what's worse, I had to pay for the repair because it wasn't mine. Frank Zappa had a Strat that belonged to Hendrix and it was in that condition and it clearly wasn't from use, not least because it was a pre CBS Stratocaster, so much more recent.
@-Pol- Electric guitar, specifically the Fender Stratocaster. Not to mention, did Willy Nelson tour as much as he did and play as long and intense shows as Rory did? I find that difficult.
Loved this. I'm a big fan of Carlos and Fontaines, so great to see them getting some exposure in Guitarist. Would love to see an article in the magazine about Carlos and Curley
That's an iconic Strat. On the album cover of most of Rory's albums. And was even the solo cover star of Rory's Against the Grain album. When I first learned the electric guitar as a teenager it was learning his licks, on a 1960s reissue MIJ burst strat. I was almost tempted to relic that. In a way I wish I did, because then I mightn't be regretting selling my first good electric guitar. I didn't know SRV that well, more Jimi Hendrix, Rory, Thin Lizzy & ... MBV. Because Carlos is right, there is a local focus to music in Ireland, and I grew up near Rory's neck of the woods. Noel Redding, bass player of the Jimi Hendrix even settled around there too. So there was a lot of interest in blues and psych/classic rock. Fontaine's D.C. have been doing great recently too, well done boys, proud of ye. Seems like despite everything, every decade Ireland is still able to give birth to some great heavy guitar-driven music.
By far, the most uncomfortable “interview” I’ve ever watched. I actually felt sorry for the interviewer. The dude didn’t even really play any of those guitars.

@@millennialanimalhe’s definitely speechless all right. Judging by the body language and tone of voice Carlos looks like he woukd be more interested in going back to bed. Maybe a long hard night in the recording studio or exhausted from an intense gigging schedule?
Carlos is a perfectly fine representative of ireland to do this. You're not even from Ireland I'd say. This is down to earth Ireland reacting to a global Irish icons prized possessions. Exactly what should be done
But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right-the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.
You are right, I’ve been playing for 3 years and by no means am I an amazing player but after a few weeks of playing you could easily do better than this
Irish people help me out here. Never heard of a genuine Irishman named Carlos. Very interesting. Is this more common than me, a 46 year old guy from Texas named George, is aware of??? Very puzzling to me.
Great stuff. A brave video. Good to see lots of love in the comments.
As someone who is newer to their music, it’s been a treat to see this
Great player and segment. I love that he plays the reissue strat live!
Carlos is such an underrated player, this was a real treat of a segment. well done
I wouldn't put him in the top 760,000 guitarists, Jesus Christ man, people today praise anybody for being average.

There's nothing unique about Fontaines. The alternative thing has been done since the 80s... by much better bands.
